Officially decided I'm going to steer clear of the Beta because I don't want to prematurely label or judge the game before it's finished.
Not that I have a PC to handle it, anyway.![]()

Yesterday we 3-manned the hospital mission on hard difficulty. It was fun and also nice to note that the open world random encounters seemed to have more npcs compared to running solo. Therefore it would make sense to do the pve content in a group for much more fun gameplay.

Doesn't sound very reasonable to me. These days we don't get demos often, so at least betas like that give you a chance to try it out for yourself. IMO it's way better than watch a video on Youtube. Sure end product will have some differences, but at least you know what kind of things to expect.
As for myself, still undecided. Ubi doesn't give a lot of details what sort of content there will be in the final product. Sounds even more dumb when they try to sell you a season pass without even providing most of the details about it.TomJGX likes this. -
If it looked more like the e3 demo a few years back I'd be more interested. It totally blew me away back then. But graphics aside, Total biscuit makes this game sound like a real snore fest. I'll might grab this one under $20 - I'm not impressed from what I've seen so far.
-
I haven't put too much thought into modding yet but I might try something like that when game releases. If my desktop can handle it in the first place.
The world was lacking action when I ran it solo but when we had 3 man team even the random encounters had more enemies. Still there could have been more, random encounter/side missions should respawn faster.
Running the field hospital quest on hard mode 3 man was not challenging or hard but entertaining. It was no run-and-gun deal. Jumping over the wrong cover or otherwise bad placement could result in fast death. I tried
I did solo that three man version later that day almost to the end, so it was manageable but I used a lot of ammo. Unfortunately my teammates left squad just before the boss fight so the difficulty dropped automatically
It's hard to say so far when the only boss mechanic is a dude with a huge health pool walking around and sometimes he places machine gun down and shoots at ya. On the 3-man version there was three of them though
I expect variety though.

I saw it too. There are a few things I agree on, and a few I disagree. Also, why can't a Borderlands/Destiny type of game be set in modern/near future. IMO, I think it's what distinguishes this game from the others - most of them have sci-fi setting.
What I liked:
- The city, it looks gorgeous. Even with downgraded graphics, the snow, the city, weather effects, they look awesome! I also like that it isn't just few streets with cardboard building. There are few interiors you can go into as well as subway/sewers. Adds another sort of "dimension" to the whole thing.
- Overall gunplay. For TPS it's one of the best I've tried. Cover system also feels fluid.
- Bulletsponge enemies don't feel very tyresome, except maybe "bosses" aka guys with thick ass shields.
- DZ was also fun, even alone, though some tweaks are necessary (i.e. a sort of reputation would be nice).
What I didn't like:
- Map size looks kinda small. I know, it was just beta, but you could actually see the entire map borders, and it doesn't look big.
- I predict very repetitive missions.
- Would love to see a bit more weapon customization. I mean, you can't have a grip and a laser sight on your gun at the same time. Also handguns have somewhat restrictive customization as well. I know it works in a different way than say MGS V or R6 Siege, but it would be nice if customization would be extended a bit more.
- Another thing I see this game having are DLCs and microtransactions. Free DLCs as well as paid were confirmed, but so far nothing else. Why all the secrecy, Ubi?
How I felt after playing it for the entire weekend:
I won't lie, it was fun. And I think I put more hours in it than in some other full games I bought. Unfortunately Ubi's unwillingness to tell us what the end product will have keeps me from buying this game. Can't make the decision without knowing what kind of **** I'm stepping in first
.
For now I will keep an eye on it as well as Escape From Tarkov and Wildlands.
EDIT: forgot to add one other thing - no stealth option. Would be nice to have it.Last edited: Feb 4, 2016TBoneSan, i_pk_pjers_i and hmscott like this. -

For once Logitech releases a keyboard I can not say "looks like a plastic POS".
-
I personally liked the G910 when I saw it in person and would love to get it but yes, price is a bit steep for the quality of it... Razer Blackwidow Chroma seems much better built for a similar price and just a better keyboard overall.. Keys feel more mechanical too lol

Just gonna leave a little fuel here and see what happens..
The Division's PC version had to be kept "in check with consoles" or it would be "unfair"
according to unnamed dev.

Yeah, saw that too.
So much wrong with that statement that I can't even... It's also funny how various devs say different things about graphics. During closed beta I watched some of the streams they had on Twitch, and those "community devs" (lol at the title) said that there was no such thing as downgraded graphics. And now you hear a different story. You would think that there would be a unified BS corporate statement in case someone asks them that sort of question, but then some devs comes and says a completely different stuff from what we usually hear.
Of course if you are not blind and compare the two yourself, you will see that there's clearly a difference between the current and E3 footage. The game doesn't look that bad, but once you compare E3 2013 footage with it, you kinda become disappointed. Kind of like with The Witcher 3. Or some other games which did the same. The blame for this goes to both, devs and Sony/Microsoft. Devs were fed all these high expectations on how powerful new gen of consoles will be, that they went out of the line when creating those games. And then Sony and Microsoft dropped a deuce... I actually think that we all should forget about the E3 2013 with supergraphics, because it's not happening...
On the other hand, dev unwillingness for some reasons (money/bribes/laziness) to make/upgrade games for PCs to look better is beyond me. Then again, I shouldn't be so surprised. Very often they treat PC as a second grade platform (any of you remember the crap Watch Doges devs wrote in the code?), despite some of the slogans they like to use (i.e. "our dev team consists of hardcore PC gamers" and crap like that). Freakin' poseurs!
Now, after watching that E3 footage again, I kinda wonder. Was all that stuff pre-rendered or played live? What kind of hardware did they use? And why, even after downgrade, doesn't this game "fly" on my machine? Isn't the 970 more, or at least as much as powerful as the GPUs they had back then?
OK OK, it was a beta, not final product, I didn't use the latest game ready drivers, etc. But somehow I doubt there will be any significant performance increases once the game will be released.
And I'm still interested in the game, dunno why... I mean, it was fun and I sunk a lot of hours into beta. It just sucks that companies like Ubi develop them. They haven't even released the game, but are already splitting the community. All that special stuff for SP owners. You don't own one? FU!
I also read an article where some dev said that he was proud that there are no microtransactions in The Division. *facepalm* What would you call that cosmetic stuff you will be selling? -

Just a speculation, but if it's indeed true I hope that there will be more content this time around.hmscott likes this. -
How is it "unfair"??? I don't get it. You buy a $400 console you get $400 graphics. You have a $2000 PC, you shouldn't get same as that of a $400 console. There should be no limit. Crysis it all the way! Let users determine the level of detail they want by the hardware they have. It would encourage more PC and component sales too.

I think if they did that a lot of 12yo VHS and toaster owners would get butthurt. -
Scalability is the key. As long as you can play it and it looks good, great! If your hobby allows for deeper pockets, so be it. I'm not saying design for best graphics possible because that would severely limit your potential sales, but offer high end graphics for those that can run it.

No, what I mean is, let PC users turn UP details not turn them off on consoles (although that is nice to have). Not artificially limit what it looks like because it's "not fair" for consoles. That's just dumb.
-
I got it and I agree. Just failed at being funny in my response.

This game went a different direction than I wanted or expected it to. Thought it would be more survivalist oriented in a modern post-apocalyptic era.
Probably won't buy it until it goes on sale. I'll have to wait until the hype dies down... Oh well. -
My issue with the game is the amount of shots it takes to get a kill from game footage I've seen. Looks cool but the lack of realism a turn off for me.

It depends what you shoot at and what with. I oneshotted non-elites easily with a sniper rifle.
If something feels too hard for you, you need better gear or lower level enemies
Besides, it would suck bigtime if you died everytime someone hit you two, three times. -
In the closed beta, AI with same lvl went down pretty fast. Going up against lvl 8s when you were lvl 6 was very different.
Looks like it´ll get bundled with Nvidia-cards and notebooks:

With three coworkers we spent about 8 hours last night, a quick grind from lvl 4 to 6-7 and then few runs of the medical quest whatever on hard mode. Then we took the mortuary couple times, sadly it's difficult level could not be upped.
After we got the last guy on lvl8, we went to the DZ to hunt named mobs. Compared to the closed beta there was considerably less pvp jerks around so the gameplay was actually fun instead of grind. Not saying we didn't run into pvp situations but it wasn't plain chainganking as the previous one. I believe it will be soon when more people lvl to max and they have nothing else to do than kill others.
Edit: i7 quadcore, 16GB ram and quadro 3000m = 15fps.
I'll stick to my desktop, tyvm.Last edited: Feb 20, 2016hmscott likes this. -
Uh, just downloaded and tried it a bit... All settings maxed with all sliders enabled and all the silly nvidia extra settings... I got between 42 and 70 fps around the initial areas, shooting etc. Will probably tank harder when there is more happening on screen.
But all in all, it doesn't look impressive graphically, but it is somewhat fun. I will keep an eye on it. And probably dial down settings as it doesn't look that good anyways. It did use my CPU to 100% at some points though. -
I ended up buying the gold edition preorder for about $74. Beta ran great. All settings on ultra / high with 121fps
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The 970m seems to perform okay on high settings but I am seeing fps in the 30s at times....but usually around 45fps. Games is cool. But you really need to play with people or it gets boring quick running from mission to mission for me. I don't quite understand the matchmaking system. I couldn't seem to get in a random open group. And when going from mission to mission I don't see anyone else online any more. I only see people in that first room, hudson's bay I think it was.
-
So I'm running an i7-3840QM and a 680M. Both the closed beta and open beta are getting about 25-35fps for me averaging around 28. I have all settings at the lowest possible. In the closed beta I was using the latest Nvidia driver but for the open beta I decided to stick with 350.12 since that other driver gave me issues with other programs. Does this seem right or should I be able to push out more fps at low settings with this hardware?
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Yeah, that's unfortunate that you can't up the difficulty on that second quest. We completed it with zizimonzter relatively low level (5 and 6), and it wasn't that hard at all.
But I gotta say, teaming up with random people in DZ is fun. And NPC thugs this time around are a bit more engaging to fight, due to increase of their numbers.
Thing that I still dislike is how easy it's to go Rogue by accident. The team I was in had been marked Rogue a couple of times by accident.
I do like that some people are cool about it, and don't try to kill you on spot if you have a brief cooldown timer on you. On the other hand there are some people who shoot you even if you use "surrender" emote... Well, at least that's true to life.
I think graphically it's OK, but what I think is really missing is all that clutter on the streets it had in 2013 E3 demo.
This:
vs this:
I know those are different locations, but it doesn't get much better elsewhere on the Beta map. Some places have more trash bags, etc., but the clutter detail, which once was there, is now gone... Some underground locations look nice though.
Hudson Bay is a Hub, once you step out of it without a team, you are on your own in PVE area, until venturing into DZ.
Matchmaking system is a bit convoluted, the way it controls (have to select it, then you see a list with your name, press Spacebar to Matchmake, it searches for players, and once it found something have to hold Tab), but it works, at least for me.
How I like to play this game is to roam alone on map, looking for stuff, exploring, and do side missions (while listening to some jams
). Then I usually matchmake to play missions, and once in DZ I'm alone again, though without music, because you have to be kinda on alert there. I walk around, sometimes I find some people to team up with (or they find me), sometimes don't.
