    Hey guys, quick question, been searching but can't find any good info here or through google... Looking at a new tablet that's supposedly going to have the ATI mobility 3200 HD. Any ideas where that would fall perfomance wise compared to the current Nvidia 6150 they have now? Thanks for any info, wasn't sure where else to post.

    ATI says it is three times faster than competitor's cards, but they didn't specify exactly what the competing cards were. It's a good integrated graphics card no doubt, definitely one of the best on the market if not the best.

    For desktops, the new Intel X4500 is supposed to be on par with the AMD 780G; Intel says the X4500 gets 1100 marks in 3DMark06. Not bad for integrated, but they don't hold a candle to even an 8400M-GS.

    Hows the HD 3650 with recent games?

    and

    Could any one list laptops that have the 8800 gts config option?
    So far...
    Gateway's FX-series
    and HP's "Dragon (HDX) has the 8800gts...are there more?
    need to get a laptop with the 8800gts that [reseller/retailer] ships to canada.

    it works pretty good with new games. Im currently playing gears of war on it at 1440x900 at high settings with shadows on medium, getting 30fps+, also plays age of conan at 1280x800 on medium with 35-60 frames, this is without my overclock on the GPU

    he doesnt have the $$ , and since everyone in this forum are convincing people that the 8800GTS is just like the GTX performance if the game isnt so "Shader Intensive"

    keep in mind the resolution and settings im at...1440x900 is pretty demanding on any laptop, at 1280x800 i see 40 lowest and mainly 50-60 frames on high settings

    almost all new games are shader intensive, especially crysis. I would go for a 8800m gtx if you like nice frames on a laptop

    Most of the games released in the last 2 years will see great improvement from more shader power; more stream processors and higher shader clocks.
    Even oblivion is shader intensive :p

    @HaloGod2007:
    Well, it is good but aren't the ATI HD cards meant for 3d modeling and processing?...thats why I find it normal not to choose the ATI HDxxxx if you wanna game.
    Yes thats exactly what I'm aiming for, because this desktop has a Sapphire 9600pro 256mb(lol hehe) and I realized I do more gaming or just the random theory-browse..on the go with my PSP. So now I want to go portable. and I wanted a laptop that would fit my budget of 2000. and the gts fell right in there.. :)
    dont worry I can wait, I only plan to buy in Sept. because the 2000 comes from my summer job atm....so yea I can/will wait..hoping the Montevina makes the 8800gtx Sager 5793 config drop below 2k ;).

    @Nirvana:
    ..that really blows...because HP HDX is not available to Canadians, except through eBay same with Gateway's FX-series. T_T...
    And I can't really go for the gtx because my budget is exactly $2000 CAD....and every config that includes the gtx has always gone over my budget. :(

    Like what brainer said
    And of course games will be more shader intense in the future...have you realized that games are elevating towards becoming more realistic and.. pretty! and shaders really make that goal possible with soft shadows in Crysis and ...lol crysis is the only example you need, being in the forest with the trees..and the sun it looks realistically beautiful...btw (I've played Crysis before, on my PC, that I use to have, had a 8500gt installed, by me, and playing crysis was hectic. lol with shaders it looked pretty but without the shadows looked like any other game....and no...I do not have my PC anymore...download limit exceeded...went 150gb over limit...had to pay for it with comp refund....PC banned in room T_T.

    that's why gfx card life-span is a great deal in a laptop.

    I don't get it. Obviously the 8800GTS > 8700. Are you asking whether two 8700s in SLI are faster than one 8800GTS?

    Hello everyone. I have read most of this thread... 200+ pages.... WOW. I skipped some because I realized it was started in 2006! So i read a bit in 2007 and then had to jump farther to get to 2008 to start reading recent things :)

    Anyway, I am in the market for a computer which I will be gaming on primarily but won't be using the latest and greatest FPS games. I will however be playing GPU intensive games like Company of Heroes, Age of Conan, and easier games like World of Warcraft and Age of Empires III. Some other RTS and RPG type games. Perhaps a game like Battlefield 2142. I'd like to run these games at high settings when I play them so I can see their beauty, but the resolution doesn't matter.

    The intention of this computer is to use mostly as a desktop replacement but also bring to my friends house for gaming, pick up and use in another room of this house, and perhaps bring to school on occasion. I'd like to take notes on it in class, but this is not an essential thing.

    In a year or two I will use this laptop for mobile gaming of older games and build a new gaming desktop.

    The question is if I need to focus on getting the 8800m card GTS or GTX for these types of games I've listed, or will the 8600 GT 256 DDR3 card do alright for my needs of these types of games in the next year or so? (I'm thinking maybe Age of Empires IV if it came out, as in a next generation RTS game or so).

    I am using a Geforce4200Ti and 1.4GHz processor atm so anything will be a substancial upgrade :D (This computer hardly runs wow at minimum settings tho.)

    i would get a 8800m gts (gtx is better) so it will last u sometime
    y get the 8600m gt(its a fine card though) and 1-2 years down the line you'll be saying "you know maybe the 8800 wasnt a bad choice"

    company of hero is a cpu intensive game

    whatcomputer u have in mind

    I was really wondering if the m1530 with the 6800GT would last me long enough. I see your point about wanting a 8800 in a 1-2 years, but by then I will build a desktop for gaming and use the laptop for sub gaming and most everything else.

    The other option was the Gateway 6860FX, and I could upgrade that computers CPU decently, but I'm not sure the size of it is good (even tho most of the time I'll be using this as a desktop replacement for at least a year or two).

    I am very into gaming and use the PC primarily for gaming, but also FPS games are the more intense on the system and those are the types of games I usually don't find too fun. If I wanted to play Crysis or something I'd make sure to get the 8800, but I am thinking maybe the 8600 will suffice for a year or two since I play mostly RTS and RPG.

    Thanks for the help dondadah, :)

    HD3650 = ddr3.
    512MB or 1GB...not really much of a difference, it`s a 128 bit card , so most of the times it won`t use more than 256 MB anyway...

    The best from the above is the 8600M GT DDR 3 .

    I'm looking to buy a Dell XPS1330, and I still haven't decided which graphic card to get. I'm buying this laptop for college, and I'm not planning to use for any hardcore gaming, perhaps some light games once in a while, such as Europa Universalis, Company of Heroes, and maybe some Call of Duty. I don't mind lowering the graphic settings, as long as it's smooth.
    Do you think the 8400M GS would be enough for me?

    If it's light gaming, then the 8400M GS is more than enough. I haven't personally played anything on my laptop yet, as I'm too busy nowadays. The 8600GT is almost twice as powerful as the GS.

    Company Of Heroes, Call Of Duty = 8600M GT. The 8400 is barely a gaming card in 2008.

    8400GS is less than half the 8600M GT.
    However, it's better for battery life,less heat and it's enough for light gaming...

    Benchmarks or scores?
    8800M GTX SLI scores anywhere from 11.5k to 14000,depending on the CPU.

    I have a 1530 with 8400gs. The only games i have right now is orange box. It plays all of games very well. I did not realize the 1330 came with the 8600gt. Hey your in collage, you should not be gaming anyways. Between drinking and partying there is very little time left in the day( and that time should be used for sleep).
