The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Thats for masterc. I'll have yours up in like 2 min.
-
About to install them! Thanks guys for the driver, and the modded .inf!
-
What is the best way to install new driver?
I've been using Driver cleaner Pro.
I just login into safemode and run the program. Am I doing it right? -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Heres yours. Change .doc to .inf .
Alright, that INF was for vista 32 I believe. The 8400m gt INF posted a few pages ago. Enjoy!
Heres the recommended steps to installing drivers.
1. Uninstall old drivers by going to device manager and clicking on display, 8600mgt, then uninstall driver.
2. Then put your computer in safe mode by going to msconfig, boot, check safe mode.
3.Restart
4. Use a registry cleaner such as ccleaner or driver sweeper.

5. Install the new driver.
6. Go to msconfig and uncheck safe boot and restart.
7. Your done!Attached Files:

Yup, I am one of those guys who reads the whole thread, and I caught ya'lls 8400GT .inf's, along with how to turn on Extensions!
Thanks again guys! Already installed, will test performance on, of course, Age of Conan here in a minute. -

Dude seriously whatever script you're running to do that to your font, it's really freaking hard to read and annoying on top of that.
-
ok, i just have like one or two questions before i go through this file.... just what do you mean by "shader optimizations"? did you just mod an inf file or did you actually take some of the dll files and re write them? or did you just turn on & off some sampling and trilinear settings?
not sure if re working an inf file constitutes making it a new driver....
and using the 177.35 drivers straight off of nvidia's site..... if you have a g92, then your best bet is just to add your strings to the original inf. the driver it self has the correct timings for down clocking your card right after the app closes. and works fine on battery. the inf is stripped of all that extra nonsense (which tends to get mixed up in copy & paste) LOL and from what i have seen...looks like all you really need are the basic strings for each card.
i tried a few that we're tweaked already and they clashed with my tweaks and that was not good for game play... -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Its not me. I just modified the infs for people. The shader optimizations are nvidia's own doing.
Thx mi3x. Is your inf for vista 32 bit? -
can someone make a modded inf for 8400m GS Vista 32? thanks in advance
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Here you go. Remove the 2 after disp and change .doc to .inf .

thank you so much! now lemme try out the drivers
-
You deserved it. And yes, it's for V32.
-
Thanks Forerunner! Pretty damn cool of you. Repped!

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
NP!
No prob. Welcome back to the forums!
Alright updated the first post. Thanks again.
Thanks! You have the inf you need? First page has the list. -
im having a problem. when i run the .exe for the driver it starts up and immediately tels me that my operating system is not vista 32-bit and that this software needs vista 32-bit............ but ive always had 32-bit
i have vista home premium. can someone help me here?
can anyone help me out here. -
May I have me some assistance please?
-
I picked 8 series, Windows vista 32-bit, 8600GT and left all other options the same. It should show up right at the top of the list with an nvidia logo next to the link.
-
When you run the .exe it will ask you where to unzip some files and then automatically will try to attempt to install them. Keep going and it will give you an error. Then go to where you unzipped the files and replace the .inf file with the moddified file (from laptopvideo2go or the Forerunner's files) and then run the setup.exe in that folder.
Hope it can help. -
so your saying to stop the install program after it extracts? it seems like as soon as i hit "i accept" for their terms it wants me to choose a save location and just goes right into the setup thing.... ;\
-
And that's correct. Do not stop, just keep going until it will tell you you don't have the right software. Then go to the location where you selected to extract the files and replace the .inf file. Then run the setup.exe file on that folder.

Any performance gains guys?
-
Question on this driver: I seem to have lost the ability to display 1280x800 resolution (I could on 174.74 and now running the DMC4 demo is like watching a widescreen movie even though the aspect ratios are exactly the same).
Update: Had to add 1280x800 as a custom resolution to fix this. Benchmark for DMC4 showed improvement in some areas and little to no change in others. Benchmark will be redone with the new supported custom resolution to recheck. -
maybe this is off topic but.. was the improvment in Scene2 ? since it was the shader intensive scene
-
I second that, some resolutions seem to have gone, but overall performance has increased here.
-
-
That's what I'd like to know as well. If it only adds 1-2 fps compared to 177.35, then I'm probably not going to bother.
-
Looking good! I come from the 174.31 and got a nearly 300 point [3Dmark06] increase with 175.19. Temperatures were equal.
665 / 1330 / 920 => from 6205 to 6492 points
I'm gonna check some ingame stuff later this day. -
I wonder if it helps with Crysis, Ima have to check it out.
-
Saw a 3-5FPS improvement in AoC! (Now in the 40's in 1440x900!) Also saw ANOTHER temp drop, after an hour and a half of AoC, temps maxed at 72. Haven't tried any other game yet.
-
too lazy to install it lol..
-
Played an hour of Bioshock; it shows a higher, more stable framerate => appears to be a great & stable driver for my config!
-
Hmm now i'm gonna Convince Semp Over tweakforce to XG it
-
If you do that, I want a link
-
The increase in image quality was instantly recognizable when I booted up Mass Effect. I noticed it because the details in guns on the back were bothering me yesterday, but now they look great (playing on ultra-high btw).
I had gone from 177.35 -> 174.74 because of an issue in Dawn Of War, and I'm happy to report that this driver seems to run new and old games very well.
Great driver overall. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Glad to see the improvement, since it was unclear for me. I definitely notice it in grid though.
Satdog heres the vista 32 inf for your 8600m gs. Just change the .doc to .inf . Happy gaming!Attached Files:

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i'm gonna report back and see if grid runs any better - been playing tf2 and css
-
MAJOR fps improve in UT3, min.fps went very noticeable up by about 7!
Also little improvement in Grid, but only minor 2-3fps.
(Although I have the feeling that my G1S runs hotter with these than before) -
The Forerunner, please make me a .inf for 8700m GT for xp 32bits. I can't get it to work. Thx in advance.
-
Just check it with Rivatuner - I always keep an eye on my GPU core temp.
-
May I get a modded inf file for my 8600m GT on Vista 64-bit please? Thanks!!
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Okie dokie smokey!
On it. -
Someone post 3Dmark06 benchmarks yet? comparison?
Im waiting lol -
hahha you opened the floodgates Forerunner.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
There you go buddy. yours is top.
No problem. Delete the 3 and replace .doc with .inf . Your is 2nd one. Happy gaming!
Quick the lifepreserver!! Throw it!!Attached Files:

Thanks forerunner! +Rep

Thank you dear, I downgraded from vista, I have serious system freezes due to a storage driver!
-
Eh, my 3dmark dropped sixty points from 177.35 (4666 -> 4602 @ 1280x800), but the real world performance is better in the games I've tested. Fortunately, chasing 3Dmark points isn't my priority.
Another plus that I've noticed in my extended Mass Effect session is that the stuttering I was experiencing with other drivers has decreased considerably.
