Thank you, Johnkss, I actually got the 177.19 drivers to work with the "Have Disc" method.
-
cool! so is your system 32 or 64 bit?
-
64bit. Haven't noticed any big change... what is the difference between 32 and 64? I never quite figured it out... You guys are smarter than me, so I trust ya'll a lot more than I trust myself!
-
64 bit is generally faster and your able to better utilize your memory,( short version of the story) still not compatible with a lot of programs yet.
-
Yeah, I noticed a little speed increase, and it does show my 4Gb of RAM.
Man, I've had this bad boy for 4 hours, and haven't even gotten to play a game yet! (Crysis patch downloading as we speak) -
lol
i know thats right!! i was lucky. i had most of the stuff on my other laptop and stored on my network.
so loading up was fast and easy.
-
Don't rub it in my face!
I at least got to try Crysis. I ran it without the patch, while downloading the patch in the background. DX10, all high ran fantastic, so I can't imagine what it will do with no processes in the background, the new patch, and a better CPU! -
oh no...never that!
now your up on me...what is this patch about? -
The 1.2 patch just fixed some performance issues.
Jeez this game is beautiful. I thought it was beautiful at 1024x768, low with textures on medium... but on high... man. You should try the patch, it gave me a small performance boost, but fixed a bug I had in the menu. -
send the link.. i will trying anything once...and some things twice...lol

Did you enjoy Crysis? It also adds some pretty cool effects. I'm actually playing through it for the 3rd time... this time, just for the pretty visuals.
-
just tried it again. the original one you posted (from the day you posted it) first still works but that one on the front page will not install same as i posted.. ive tried three times now since i posted that
-
ok ran some tests and yep for sure it loses fps when I unplug and use battery power. I tried running same level on Cod4 single player same scene, with notebook plugged in I get 50-60 fps, then I die and run through same scene, and check out fps, it's at 20-30. I keep my eye on it a put the plug back in and yep frames shoot back up. I did this several times to confirm.
Then I did what you did zfactor, which was to run 3dmark06 with it unplugged and I went from 7555 with it plugged to 7012 just running on 25% battery power. That sucks.
I also tried messing with the power options settings tweaking everything on High performance setting to 100% on battery and still the same results.
I don't know if same thing was happening with 174.31 drivers. I just might roll back and test to see if same thing. If it is I'll come back to these just because of the 7555 score and the shader fix.
One other thing, I timed how long my battery lasts before it hits 10%, with these drivers I got 40 measley minutes testing Cod4 single player. I think I got an extra 20 with 174.31. I'll find out soon enough when I test those drivers. -
ok I rolled back to 174.31 to see if they would lose fps if running just on battery power and for sure it does, and 3d mark loses 200+ pts so went back to 175.19. These are keepers just for the higher score the shader fix and easier to install than using have disk method. And if I ain't mistaken I had 40 mins worth of gaming as opposed to 35 with 174.31. I found a replacement for my beloved 174.31. Staying with these until something else can better it.

Oh I seen another post on how to disable powermizer but when I got to the registery edit in the video folder I don't have that file that was mentioned. Can someone familiar with the Toshiba x205 sli1 run me through disabling powermizer so my fps don't drop when running just on battery, or is this normal when running on battery and there is no remedy.

So John, when I download the 175.19 driver you linked me to from Laptopvideo2go, I can still use the 8800GTS .inf on the front page, correct?
177.41's performance isn't too sweet... -
wait...aren't you 64 bit?
-
Yes sir, I downloaded the 64bit driver you linked on laptopvideo2go, and used the .inf from the front page. It still says it's incompatible. The .inf was named "nv_disp175.19.inf", so I thought that was the problem at first. (I was getting the "Windows cannot find hardware compatible with this driver) Then I renamed it to "nv_disp.inf", to over-write the original, and it gave me the "32bit" error.
-
yeah, that's not a 64 bit inf.
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/175series/17741_vista64/nv_disp.inf -
Error 403 "Forbidden". And Laptopvideo2go didn't have an .inf with the driver.
-
http://www.say-it-loud.com/nv_disp_175.19V64bit.inf
it's a laptopvideo2go inf
edit: forgot the inf at the end. -
That link is dead, but I did download the other 64bit .inf and it still gave me that error.
-
try it now
-
Ok, with that .inf, the install "looked" like it was working, but never asked me about the "Verify Publisher" thing, it just completed. After the restart, resolution was set to 800x600, and sure enough, no Nvidia driver was installed. I tried the "Have Disc" method, which came back with an error that said it was "Unable to install driver for 'Nvidia 8800GTS'". I just reverted back to 177.41 for now. Sad thing is, I really liked the 175.19 drivers on my 8400GT...
-
is that a typo o? 8800gts or did you try 8800m gts? i just tried it right now on a 64 bit system and it worked...
-
Typo, it's an 8800m GTS. Doesn't work for me... don't know why.
-
Uhh, I kind of need a little bit of help here, I need to download nVIDIA ForceWare X 175.19 for Windows XP, for my nVidia Geforce Go 7800 GTX, but they dont support the Mobile Version or the "Go" part, in the inf, anyone think they can help me?
-
Hey, I have a XPS 1330 with 8400M GS and I play mass effect and CoD4. I haven't been checking the forums regularly and am I running Nvidia Driver 169.04. Is it worth it performance wise to upgrade drivers and to which ones?
-
hey, I have a 8600 gt, I recently downloaded the 175.19 from Nvidia's website, when trying to install, it says the application could not locate compatible hardware? Has anyone else had this problem, do I need an inf? I had this installed before however, I recently re-installed vista.
-
check the inf file for the 8600m gt card.....
-
anyone have the link to the laptopvideotogo 175.19 drivers? You can't insert the inf in the one from Nvidias webite.
-

Thanks for ur INF dude....I owe u bigtime...I have a dell vostro running 32 bit vista with 8600 GT
-
Is this likely to fix the 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered' problem on a Vostro 1500 8600m GT? Also, does it give any problems with Sleep/Hibernate?
-
Hi,
I read most of the (long) thread before asking, just for making sure it was not answered already, but could someone kindly make for me a modded inf for a 8400gt for Vista64? moreover, do these modded inf apply to just any driver or to a particular one? and if that is the case, could you post as well the link to the driver (or infos on what driver to look for and where)?
Thanks in advance
Renato
