Anyone around here play Warzone, around the evenings, central timezone?
I'm having fun playing alone but sometimes get tired of running with the randomest of randoms.
Downside is, I'm not using a mic as I need to stay quiet around that time but I do use in-game markers and listen to directions from team mates.

I'm at the beginning of the end of Outer Worlds and IDK if I want to finish it or wait till the next DLC and move on to Destroy All Humans.

They haven't released any DLC for that game yet? Wow.. I feel like it's been a year since I played it.JRE84 likes this.

Outer worlds definitely felt a lot like Fallout 4 for me too but MUCH less content, I have not gone back to it after finishing the main story and most side missions. I'm waiting for, I think, the two total DLC's to be put into an ultimate or goty edition before going back. Still midway through my replay of FO4 with both DLCs in the mix at the same time. One of my top 5 games, I really wish they had done an offline single player mode to Fallout 76 I'd be all over it. I fear for future FO series with M$ in charge.

Also playing The Outer World at the moment. Really love it's characters, dialogues and story, but open world component is really weak... Reminds me too much of Ubisoft copy pasted open worlds... Still a fun game though

I can't really complain much, it was in MS Game Pass so I essentially played it "for free". But they seem to not ever include DLC for free in the gamepass versions unless it's old GOTY something something.
I really enjoyed it as well, but I was about ready for it to be over by the time I finished it. I could actually probably say that about most games, it seems like it's a rare breed when I'm like I WANT MOAR.JRE84 likes this. -

I will say that it's better to have a feeling of wanting more instead of waiting the game to be over.
I'm so tempted to restart Cyberpunk 2077, but I must resist the urge until the game gets some more fixes and maybe some features get added by devs or via mods.
On the other hand, I had enough of AC Valhalla... I was playing one part of the game and waiting for it to be over, but it was just going on and on until I dropped the game... Please stop... I beg you... Stop...
So far I'm getting a pretty good length in The Outer Worlds. I'm 28 hours in. Have a bunch of secondary quests queued up and still some planets left unvisited.
However, like previously mentioned, like the game overall except for open world. Sometimes I have a strong urge just to fast travel everywhere. Planets all look the same with different shades of paint slapped on them. -
I don't want to say too much but there are not that many planets, it's not a big game.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Looks enough to me. Not all games need to be 100 hour behemoths.
Checked the number of main quests, I'm halfway through. If combined with other side quests I get around 20 hours more I will be perfectly fine. -
I started Outer Worlds but accidently clicked on cyberpunk last night. No really, total accident.
Regardless I'm finishing up the playthrough I abandoned at the point of no return.

I haven't played FO3/FNV since switching to win10 and the GOG version install went ok but it has crashed a couple of times already, ugh into the forums I go.

LOL yeah I know and I knew there were most likely going to be issues and have applied a couple of ini and compatibility fixes so we'll see. I figure if I can get fo3 working fine then fnv should work better. It's really dumb that GOG and Steam sell these old games but there is little proofing of modern OS issues other than all the patches, removing GFWL etckillkenny1 likes this.

Finished The Outer Worlds, so it's back to shooting Nazis in their balls (Sniper Elite 4).
The Outer Worlds, well, I really liked it. A great game. Only few developers can make such AA/AAA game these days with branching quests, interesting characters with their quirky dialogues and companion story arcs, and rich lore. Gameplay was pretty good, excepted a bit worse, but turned out to be quite enjoyable. Biggest let down were the outer worlds. Most locations were pretty bland. Also a lot of loading. Most of the quests send you to different places. So you get the quest, go to your ship <loading> travel to the planet <loading> land on the planet, reach the destination i.e. some building <loading> inside that building there is another area <loading> you do the objective, get another one i.e. maybe to talks to someone, go outside <loading> <loading> go to a different location (pray to spaghetti monster it's on the same map <loading> talk, go back to the quest giver to finish the quest on a different planet <loading> <loading> <loading>
Gah! Afterwards playing something like CP2077 or AC Valhalla makes you really appreciate actual open world games.
Game length was fine for me, took 40 hours to finish the game, which actually is my preferred length for open world games (40-60 hours). I don't have time to mess around in your artificially stretched out games (looking at you, Ubisoft). Unless it's something good, I usually get bored, drop the game, and despite spending 100 of hours still think I wasted money on the game, because I didn't get to see the ending (or used Youtube to see it).
I suppose criticism can be made that TOW is a short game if you only do main story. That's correct, it's probably something like 15 hours just for the main quest, but come on, you buy an open world game and don't do any of the side quests? You are doing it wrong! And those side quests are pretty good.
So yeah, played the game, finished the game, and loved it, including the ending.
After a downer yet still kinda hopeful ending in Cyberpunk 2077, received the best possible ending you could in TOW. feelsgoodman.jpg

Oh it's a good game and plenty long, even better now with the dlc which I have not played. Waiting for GOTY with both planned DLC included. It doesn't have the amount of side stories/activities etc as FO4 though, nor the exploration amount which I enjoy, FO4 has all that underground real estate as well.
I've noticed all these yakuza remasters lately and decided to try 0 since it seems to be the recommended starting point and man what a gem, normally not my kind of game, beatemup, but it has so much more and the whacky side skits are hilarious, totally recommended. Not too expensive and will play on a potato since they're old games but still great. So with all the games out I'm set for a long while. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
So far people say first add-on for TOW is not very good. Waiting for the second one, maybe it's gonna be better.
Oh, Fallout 4, such a huge let down... Was a bit hyped for the game and then I played it... Since then I don't hype myself for the game releases...
I expected Beth to take notes from wonderful New Vegas, but alas it didn't happen...
Since MS has now Zenimax and Obsidian, my wish is that they give the development of the next Fallout game to Obsidian. They can do great games with proper budget and time. Or remake/remaster of Fallout 1 and 2 would also be nice. -
FNV is way overrated to me, it didn't feature any new gameplay types and the whole "choices matter" argument just falls flat. What? so you can go back to your previous save and see other endings? The dlc were a huge plus, FO4 could have used another DLC that had a separate map. From your POV don't hold your breath on the FO series with the new owners. I don't get it either since TOW is very FO4 inspired but ok.

The recently leaked beta of Goldeneye 007 that was supposed to be released on Xbox Live Arcade for the 360. I haven't played this game since the N64, and it feels strange using an Xbox controller to do it since you can't move while aiming. While there are bugs and slowdowns (some of which I would attribute to using the Xenia emulator), it's been a very fun experience. Wish the rights holders would pull their collective craniums from their backsides and allow this amazing game to get its proper due.

Yeah, I know, wishful thinking... Sad to see how Beth ruined Fallout... FO3 was a decent start, and Obsidian showed how it's done.
Had big hopes Beth would take the template and add a better gameplay. They did add a better gunplay in FO4, but overall it was a downgrade all around...
Anyway, decided to play a bit of ETS2. Delivering COVID-19 vaccines. First one is done!

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Yup, it’s the best one in oversimplification and dumbing down...
No karma, removed skills, crap writing and dialogues, lazy (has the same exact music as FO3) and so forth... -
Story is subjective I didn't find it more or less better/worse than the other 3d FO's tbh. Gameplay was vastly better and I liked the graphics. The Perks were overwhelming to me, too many with too many levels, I never use VATS either. The add ons of settlements really drew me in, I can't remember if you can have companions in the other 3d FO's but I liked that. I didn't notice the same music as FO3 but liked it until I just got sick of it after a while and turned it off altogether. Dialogues were fine, maybe not as complex I guess, but it's been a while since I played the other ones, still haven't quite got back into FO3, it's, so muddy color wise and of course buggy. I usually just go on my opinion hands on, not what is parroted endlessly YMMV obviously.Last edited: Feb 5, 2021

Yeah, that's true.
I was expecting to get a game with proper RPG mechanics and branching dialogues and quests lines, but instead got an open world building sandbox...
This is why I dislike FO4 so much. It was stripped of things I liked in the series.
Never cared about building TBH. Tried it a couple of times, the UI was horrible (played with keyboard and mouse) and forgot about it.
VATS was a good improvement, one of the few things I actually liked in FO4. It went into slowmo instead of freezing time.
Companions were there since the very first Fallout game, albeit with less character.
Anyway... On my third COVID-19 vaccine delivery in ETS2

I didn't get on with Fallout 4 at all. Hated the gameplay it felt really boring compared to 3/nv and the whole base building was a dumb addition.
-
I agree. I did like Fallout 4 and enjoyed my time in it, but the crafting and building thing just seemed to get in the way of the stuff I really wanted to do. I understand some people really liked the building mechanic, I just don't care about that stuff.
-
Played the crap out of FO4, didn't craft at all. A common dynamic for me in games is that if I don't need to craft I usually don't. For me one of the biggest drags on my enjoyment with the series has been the relentlessly drab game world. If you look at events at a certain place in Ukraine and what it looked like even just a few years later you don't see trash covering every surface, it isn't for some inexplicable reason dark and uniformly ugly.
About upcoming games, I'm going to be a day one buy on the Mass Effect remaster; I played the bejesus out of all 3 of them back in their day. I little disconcerting that they felt the need to rework cameras so as not to spend as much time doing things like admiring Miranda's butt; I suppose in this day and age it was inevitable. Evidently the also reduced the male Shep man-spreading. I don't know what man-spreading is; have to remember to look that up. In any event it's less.JRE84 likes this. -

It can be ok at times but for the most part I find the look depressing and I fully admit that's strictly subjective. Still; I'm not the only one who thinks so: several reviewers said as much. However that may be it takes all kind, if it worked for you, great!

On topic - Ubisoft release a demo for Immortals Fenyx Rising, so I gave it a go. A bit of the nix between Odyssey and Zelda, and it's a bit of fun. Now a bit salty, should have bought it instead of AC Valhalla as it's way better...Last edited: Feb 6, 2021 -
Compared to FO3/FNV, FO4 was a color explosion, really well done and I still love the techno-50's theme and the graphics have a softness to them that still amazes me on my second playthrough now. It's depressing but not as much as CP77 to me. It does have less complexity than the other ones as far as dialogue choices I guess, but for me just the gaming part of it is way better. There are tons of different avenues to go in, it just isn't so much for the end game cutscenes. I've discovered a few different avenues years later that I had no idea about etc
I didn't notice/care about the missing systems that were in the other games. The power armor is fantastic as well as the verticality that that unlocks. I liked both DLC but Nuka World with the settlements was just too late, I don't want to attack my own settlements to finish a DLC story or do the rigamarole to empty them out etc I mean I'm the new raider leader I should have ultimate say. There needed to be a choice to say, hey these are my settlements we'll just skim off the top no need for violence etc but nope. I played with KBM first now with xbone gamepad, both work fine.

Doing different FO4 endings/radiant faction quests/DLC. Still on Yakuza 0 which does drag with a lot of dialogue at times but generally a really good game.Last edited: Feb 7, 2021JRE84 likes this. -

+1. It truly is a zombie masterpiece. I played it so much and now that I think about it, I've started The Following but I've never got too far with it. Most likely it's time to start a new playthrough.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Having grown up in eastern Europe, that home base apartment building with small rooms, full of furniture brought back lots of memories. They did their homework very well.
I still remember the Korek Machete and how good friends we were after I unlocked the grappling hook
A fun little tidbit from my first playthrough: right at the beginning, I vaguely remember some sort of a tutorial mission and at one point it starts getting dark and they're calling you back to the apartment building. For whatever reason I did not rush back and to my surprise, night never came. I think it's the only point in game where you can relatively safely free roam and take your time, it stays dusk forever. Of course it's right at the start of the game so you don't have almost any skills or good weapons but still, I made quite a lot of experience, I remember exploring that bridge full of zombies... it gave me a really nice head start in the game.
Oh yeah, I remember where I stopped playing The Following... there was a mission which takes you to a dark cave and you find a screaming zombie baby. I hate screaming zombie babies. Gave me the creeps.hertzian56 likes this. -
I actually haven't started from the beginning I have various state saves of it but I'll have to do that. The Following not as good but a nice add on to the main map, didn't use the buggy much since it's faster to just use a speedwalker trainer option lol Pretty much the only game that can still get my hairs up and make me nervous it's so immersive. Can't wait for DL2, hopefully this year.

Well, good job Ubisoft. I was so impressed with the demo that I decided to grab the game. they had a -30% sale plus I used my points to get another -20%, though sadly not together but on top.
Anyway, really like it. Can't believe Ubi made this, only MTX store reminds me that Ubisoft has something to do with this game. In comparison AC Valhalla looks so stale to Immortals. This game is simply fun. Familiar gameplay is refreshed by adding gliding, stamina mechanic and puzzles/challenges. And cartoony graphics complement silly and lighthearted characters/story perfectly.
Spent most of the week playing it.
Otherwise some truckin' in Euro Truck Simulator 2, some freight hauling in Derail Valley, and some staby-staby in Age Of Empires II DE. -
Finished Yakuza 0 last night and it was a crazy ride, totally recommended. I'm kinda sad about the lack of majima in most of the yakuza games though and the turn he takes from y0 to kiwami which is what I started last night. Was also just wandering in RDR2 because it's such a pretty game to look at. I'm wishing they would do a full remake of RDR1 for next gen and pc they have huge parts of the map redone already in RDR2 obviously.

This game gets so much hate. Yes, it’s not a perfect or amazing but at least it is very fun for me and got it for free.

RAGE 2 is a good shooting game to play after work. I love they brought combat mechanic from DOOM. I don’t care much about the story though.

Yeah I played this originally when it came out a lot with no mods. I have tried to come back to it a few times over the years and just get bored. Maybe modding would help, I never got into heavy modding.
Tried Rage 2 and it is pretty nice looking, I've read the story is pretty short and one dimensional. Finishing Yakuza Kiwami 1 today, much shorter than Yakuza 0 but still fun, can't wait to dive into YK2. -
Cold War Zombies is free for a while (I think 2 weeks but I may be wrong). This thing is cool, I may even buy it at some point.

Yeah Rage 2 isn't going to win any writing awards, but it was good enough in service for the best part of the game which was the combat gameplay itself.hertzian56 likes this.
