I actually forgot all about those horrible integrated cards but you are correct in saying that they are CPU bound so in that case, a better CPU would probably increase performance but those cards are terrible for gaming in the first place.

The consensus is that many Real Time Strategy games are very CPU intensive and it is also very well known that GTA IV is very CPU bound too although that is a different case since it really needs a Quad Core.

Overclock rates vary within each card, even ones of the exact same make and model. The only way to find out whether that overclock rate is any good / stable is to monitor not just performance increase in games, but GPU temperatures during game play as well as artifacts (if any). I suggest you use Hardware Monitor running in the background while you have a gaming session, for example playing Crysis.

This way you can monitor your maximum temperatures to see if they are within a safe range. You can also use Ati tools testing modes but Hardware monitor should be ok for now.

    You are day dreaming.
I don't know how's C2D compare to P4 these days. But for P-M, you multiple the clocking by 1.8, so basically a P-M 2.0Ghz equals P4 3.6Ghz. And now C2D is much faster than P-M at the same clocking even with one core disabled.

Well I got that info from nvidia webpage where you can test your hardware compatibility.....if it can handle the game or not and there it was told that my c2d 2.oghz was rated at 4.0ghz..........Thats what I could think off and i taught it would be that way.........So what you say how do we calculate a c2d 2.0ghz to p4 in speed......

It said 4.0ghz, but did not say P4, correct?

Okay, okay. Let's get this straight.

You have a 6930G, with a T5800 and a DDR2 9600M GT. CPU upgrading will probably not be worth the money or the small (if any) performance increase. GPU upgrading is basically completely hopeless. Your motherboard doesn't support DDR3 but it does support the new Montevina CPUs. I know this as your laptop is the smaller sibling of mine and are both in the Montevina release generation. So, technically, you can use the T9900.

But the thing is, both the T9900 and QX9300 will fry your laptop and/or will not work without any proper BIOS support. The 6930 cant use quads, any way.

So, you want performance increases in games? There's still somethings you can do. You can always overclock, as you have with RivaTuner or you can overclock your CPU clock speed with SetFSB. You need to find your PLL for that and its quite risky if you don't know what your doing.

You can always purchase XP or download the Windows 7 RC as both OS' have shown a performance boost over Vista, though not much. This isn't really necessary but it might help.

The last thing you could do would be to purchase a high speed SSD, say an Intel X-25M or an OCZ Vertex. I dunno if they are available to your location but they are probably your last hope. The X-25 is especially fast, and can boost the speed of all the parts of your system. Maybe not more FPS, but faster loading and rendering (maybe).

That's probably it. Hope this has been a full answer. :)

Yeap......I got the answers now thanks and I have done the oc and gained performance and will definately check x-25 also........

Thank you all very much for your kind support in this thread

I have a similar question so i'll ask it here !

Currently i'm using an P7350 and i could use the virtualization technology

    It seems an TX00 cpu isn't advised in my laptop ( 6930G with 9600M), so i'd go for a P9500 or P9600.

Any problems with those cpu's ?
