Hey, I'm getting my Asus Z71V on monday. I need a good game to play on it, and I LOVE MMORPG's (massive multiplayer online role playing game). I dont care if there is a monthly fee, I just want one that is popular, has decend races or classes, and that is VERY addicting. Can somone recommend a game? kthxbi

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic! The first one is great, I beat that four times.
The Second one you should only get if you already beat the first. The ending isn't that great for the second, although still an awesome game.
Yeah I'm a Star Wars freak -
anyways get World of Warcraft. I used to bug a couple of my friends that played it because i thought it was a weak game. Now that i bought it myself, i cant stop playing. Its like online crack. -
I've tried everquest I and II, WoW, and Guild Wars. Personally I like EQ1 the most, but that would be an extremely hard game to jump into seeing as all the people that play EQ1 have been playing for about 6 years, so they have ungodly equipment. The thing I like most about EQ1 is the amount of content it has. EQ1 is easily 4-5 times as large as any other MMoRPG out there. EQ1 is still going strong after all these years.
EQ2, what can I say? It really really sucks unless you love the grinding aspect of MMoRPG's. They removed all the things from EQ1 that made life easy, like the stones in PoK(yeah, I'm starting to speak another language here, sorry. If you need clarification just ask me), or ports. Also, leveling up is not trivial. EQ2 has been going for about a year and a half now and there are not that many people out there maxed out lvl. This means that if you like to raid at all you will have a hell of a hard time finding a guild powerful enough to do so. Usually there are only one or two raiding guilds per server, but don't expect to be able to join one of them anytime soon. Think more along the lines of a year or two from now when you get to a suitable lvl(I'm gonna guess that most people that are lvl 50+ have about 4months+ playtime on their characters), assuming you can keep up the grind that long. I know I couldn't.
WoW is by far the most popular MMoRPG out there at this time. They are constantly adding more servers every couple of months. Why is it so popular? I think it's because it's the lvling up process is so smooth and easy. That and there are a lot of people to group up with, though most people don't bother grouping until later lvls. You can get to the max lvl with about 2 weeks of playtime. One thing to consider when picking a server for WoW is whether to goto a PvE or PvP server. If you goto a PvP server be prepared to get ganked a lot. Another consequence of WoW being so wildly popular though is that the player community has more than its fair share of immature kids. If you like raiding there is not much content available yet. Molten Core and Onyxia are pretty much the only two options open atm for most guilds. Some really elite guilds can raid in BWL also. This won't be a problem in the future though as Blizzard releases more and more content. Also, they have Battlegrounds in WoW. These are pretty cool Horde vs Alliance zones where you have up to 40vs40 pvp battles. Fun stuff indeed.
I haven't spent much time with Guild Wars, but from what I've seen so far it's pretty cool. The meat of GW are the arenas. You form teams of players and duke it out with other teams until your team makes it to the top of the totem pole.
IMO get WoW and Guild Wars. WoW will be every bit as good as EQ1 as soon as more content gets rolled out and with the huge amounts of people that play WoW you can be sure that new content will come out. I believe they recently announced the first expansion pack for WoW. I tossed GW in also just cause there is no monthly fee. -
I would second Guild Wars. It's a fun game you don't have to keep paying for!

I heartily recommend WoW. I'm not really an MMORPG guy, but WoW got its talons in and sucked me in. All I wanted to do was see how it ran on my notebook so I installed my buddy's copy; now I play it.
In terms of graphics, Everquest II is by far the best looking out there, with effects that can't even be maxed out on my buddy's 6800GT. But again, WoW is pretty amazing in parts, too, just kind of lacking a high polycount (I'm assuming to support the myriad players who run it even on Intel GMA900 or worse, Extreme Graphics 2). -
WOW, the No.1~
-
WOW is very addictive until you hit level 60
-
Ragnarok Online is pretty good.
-
RO gfx are kinda bad
-
lol. they are not cutting edge high poligon but certainly not bad.
-
I think I'll get WoW.
Thanks guys
By the way, has anyone played Final Fantasy XI online? I have some friends that think that would be a better choice then WoW. -
I spent most of last year playing that game, doing quite well with my knight character. There's just something about it that makes you want to keep playing it. Though that's true with most MMORPGs.
Have fun playing WoW DHS1 -

WoW is significantly easier to just dive into than FFXI. Working in groups plays alot more of a role in FFXI, particularly when it comes to levelling. In fact, levelling solo in FFXI is mostly a viable option only for the first 10-15 levels, or with a specific Job class; after that, the amount of time and effort to level ramps up big time.
Not to say it's bad; still fun, but it really does require more group play to level. In WoW, you can easily level solo just by grinding and questing. -
Guildwars is fun, addictive and free with more than enough people willling to help "noobs" out.
Its great for people who have lots of time to spare, but especially good for people who dont have so much time to spare, or are just casual gamers because there are no ongoing fees like a lot of the other popular MMORPG, so you dont feel as if you are wasting money if you dont play at least 3 hours a day. -
I have yet to play an online RPG (well, not since back in the day of text-based MUD's - good times), but EverQuest has been known to break up families, ruin lives, and induce suicide:
1) Has created addictions that caused divorces, malnutrition, social problems, etc.
2) Heard of a married couple who bought a second computer just so the wife could spend time with her Everquest-addicted husband. Not kidding. The kid spent most of the time at his grandmother's house.
3) One teenager committed suicide when something bad happened to his character (it died or something).
So ... I guess it must be a good game.

"Best" can vary depending on person as each has their own taste.
Personally I like Maple Story. While some may dismiss it since it's a 2-D MMORPG. I like it because I actually have direct control over my character. I'm not too fond of mmorpgs where you simply just click somewhere when you want to walk, and fights are just a combination of clicking on the enemy and balancing your use of spells and item use.
in Maple Story, you have direct control, meaning when you press the left arrow, he/she will go left until you stop. you have platforms and ladders to jump up and down on. and enemies you are actively dodging (and depending on your class) aiming to hit. Party battles are pretty fun too. -
Guild Wars is okay, but it isn't an MMORPG. It's more like Diablo 2 set in 3d. If you are into PvP it is very good, but if you are into story and the alternate world type appeal of a true MMORPG, I'd stay away from it. This summer I was addicted to it but after a while it just gets really repetitive because you just do the same quests over and over again in the same areas you've been in a thousand times before, in order to get more skills and build characters for PvP.

I agree that WoW is one of the best RPG's out right now. I just can't wait until D&D online comes out in Febuary. The graphics look awsome and I will probably upgrady my video card in my I9300 once Dell comes out with a new on in the next few months.
-
for some reason guild wars is the online game that i cant stop playing i did get tired of it for a while but now i have started playing pvp and i am adicted again, i have also been playing on eve-online and city of villians but i have kinda given up on eve and i havnt played that much of cov.

Well I don't know how many people liked the game Baulder's Gate...but D&D Online will be almost the same concept except killer graphics and it's a MMORPG. Go to www.gamestop.com and search under the PC games for it. It looks awesome.
-
I used to love playing Star Wars Galaxies when it first came out, and I was a beta tester for that as well, however with the new self-entitled "game enhancements" it will drastically change the gameplay and dynamics. If you enjoy FPS, then you might want to try SWG. But as far as my personal choice, I think WoW is the best as it appeals to the casual gamers. If you can't imagine yourself playing for hours to days at a time, nor have the time to, then Guild Wars might suit you best. It all depends on your lifestyle, and what you enjoy.
-
the graphics are comparable to FFX in the ps2. I have not played WOW but met a lot of friends in FFXI that do play WOW. They say it takes longer to level up in FFXI than WOW. -
First of all, I agree with whoever it was who said every person likes a different MMO. I can see the advantages of each. Personally I don't even consider Guild Wars an MMO. I pre-ordered it and played through the betas and was so dissapointed I got a refund.
I was very impressed with Final Fantasy XI. The jobs were fun to play and it was relatively challenging. There were certain classes that you could solo in, Rangers, Beastmasters, & Dragoons but the game really shined in it's multi player aspect. The worst part of the game though was that the higher level you got the harder it became to find a party to adventure with. So you are talking about a major time commitment here.
I have been told WOW is different in that you can play it for any length of time and always make progress in the game, even if you only play for 5 minutes. I think this makes the game a lot more user friendly, although, I think the difficulty involved in FF XI made it more rewarding.
I am curious to hear more about this Maple Story game though. It sounds interesting. As far as Guild Wars goes, I do not recommend it unless you are looking for a weak version of Diablo 2. -

I said it before and i will say it again. In Feb...D&D online comes out. Check it out at www.gamestop.com...graphics are great and gameplay in beta I heard is excellant.

I've played many MMO's. Guild Wars is good, probably the best fantasy MMO out there now. WoW was ok at first, but it is too easy, there's not really that much to it. The players are the worst part. Sure, there are plenty of cool people there, but there are far too many immature goons running around. It only takes one to ruin your game. LEEEROY JENKINS!!!!!!!!
Right now I play Eve Online Maybe I'm just burned out on the "elves and fairies" thing, but this game rocks. It has a real death penalty, a real economy, kickass graphics, and a depth you won't find anywhere. Of course, it's not for everyone, and really requires a time commitment if you're going to get anything out of it. Because it is difficult, the playerbase, in general, is more mature. It's not a time sink like EQ (In fact, you don't have to "grind" at all).
Anyway, check out Eve -
Guild Wars is great. It looks fantastic, runs on modest hardware (laptops) and has a great online community. I bought it on boxing day for $30 CDN and it has been like crack ever since. I have not touched CS:Source or Civ4 since buying it.
-
yeah i cant wait for the second chapter of guild wars
-
I've played guild wars, lineage 2, and WoW. Right now I like WoW the best. I like lineage2, but the game has some major economic flaws, and more than it's fair share of immaturity. Also, the grind is probably the worst of any MMORPG out there. So I switched to WoW and have really liked it so far, I'll probably play it more in March. Guild wars seems ok, but I haven't gotten to indepth with it yet, it seems pretty basic though.

Before I got WoW, I had never played any MMORPG or even RPG. I had never played any Warcraft game, even heard about it. When I first heard about it from my friends, I thought it was really cheesy. The monthly fee also turned me away. But I decided to try it out for a month, and I was SUCKED in. This game is freaking addictive, I havn't stopped playing it since.
-
I like EQ2, but it's a power hog on the graphics department. It is a lot of grinding, but there is a lot of raiding also... lots of raiding guilds. It does need more content though. I hear they have another expansion coming out soon as well. If you wanna play it on a laptop with half decent graphics and in raids, you will most definately need nothing lower than a Go 6800U. The graphics can't be beat in this game though. Neither can all the ambient sound and voice acting.
-
You can d/l a free 14 day trial to see if you like it. -
WoW rocks - even with the monthly fee, I've "saved" money since I started playing it because I haven't bought a single game since :O
It's a good thing I have a young kiddo otherwise I'd probably never stop playing the stupid game. I'm even changing notebooks to be able to play it better...(so much for saving money - lol) -
I have not herad this one mentioned in here yet but I like "Eve-online" which is a space MMORPG. I have been playing since the beta and the game has come a long way since then.
I might have to give Guildwars a go as well -

WoW is fun now, raids are awesome
Everyone's level 17+ and I'm the lone lvl12, yet I can still help so much! It's a blast everytime -
yeah i played eve but kinda stoped playing it after a few weeks good idea but to 'free' for me realy, not enough direction, and also there is a lot of traverling to do which takes ages.
-
I meant Battlegrounds, not raid

Man...people get crazy in there...spending 100's of gold to get stats and don't even get me started on the Horde Shaman's.
-
LastChaos, not extremely high system reqs, GMs/admins who care, free to register, download and play, and a great community.
LastChaos site -
there is no way in hell you should spend 15 bucks a month for a game. I would go with Guild Wars. Its pretty fun, and you can play it WITHOUT PAYING MONTHLY!
-
Lord of the rings shadow of agmar is very good. They are constantly adding new stuff now and the graphics are amazing. The gameplay is also very interactive. I played WoW for a long time but trust me end game is probably the most boring thing out there and the pvp is repetitive and you can guess how a fight is going to go. I vote LoTro
.
-
if your really into extreme and hard games...try Final Fantasy 11. Great game but its too damm hard lols so i quit. you might like it though!
-
I'm playing 2Moons right now but Cabal is probably the best MMORPG I've ever seen in a while. Too bad right now it's for Europe and Asia only.
Oh both those are entirely F2P by the way (free to play). Just download and start playing. I can't believe the people who'd pay monthly to grind on an MMORPG. -
-
15 dollars a month is not alot. im sorry if you can't afford it then don't play. its only 50 cents a day, i guarentee you waste much more then 50 cents a day on useless stuff
-
2Moons is ok thus far. I'm only lv 20 though. I like the combat system a lot how there's pretty much knockback with everything and with varying levels and the fishing system is nicely done. Only cons ATM are that it's hard to level up at higher levels since I've heard there's an exp cap at lv 50 and there's not much you can do to change your appearance yet since there's no costumes yet, though those might be cash shop only or something. Oh and mounts only last for a certain time limit that you purchase them, but I guess if you're high level enough that probably wouldn't phase your gold collecting too much.
Ohhh, and Summoners are AFK gamers, which I don't really have an opinion about but some people seem pretty pissed off about it. (I'll probably choose that class after I'm bored with my knight)
And no, I don't toss change down the sewer every day; I'm not an idiot and know that every little bit of $$ adds up.
The thing is maybe I would have paid that $15 a month to play an MMORPG when they were these new-all-the-rage-things and only very crappy ones (with crappy servers) were free but now when there's a much larger list of free MMOs (check http://www.mmorpg.com ) which play on damn decent servers and aren't only limited to RPGs I don't understand why you'd pay for something you can [legally] get for free.
What's the BEST MMORPG game out?
