Really? I've lost count of how many times I've played through each campaign in its entirety, in co-op and Versus modes, not to mention individual map playthroughs, and I have never seen them anywhere but the gun store. Hmm...
-
-
Yeah, I've gotten it a couple of times on the carnival, as well.

What a spoiled brat!
Yeah the others are right, they spawn in all maps, I've seen it on a shelf in a room in hard rain too so their locations can be obscure.

I dont like the character cast at all in the 2nd game, the original was way better in that aspect.
Im just not a big L4D fan, I told myself I would not get the 2nd one but I did anyways and now already I am not really playing it.
I got Serious Sam HD today though and that game is really fun to me. -

I like Nick. It's like separating Francis' snarkiness/deadpan and his stupidity, and putting the stupidity into Ellis while Nick gets all the jerk. "Ten bucks says [the Jockey] takes him to the right."
Speaking of Ellis, he seems to have gotten Louis' optimism. Stupidity and optimism isn't a good combination. Maybe that's why he's the buttmonkey. -
Nick is my favorite as well. He's got all the witty comments.
-
My copy should get here tomorrow or monday (I hope) been watching all sorts of videos of the gameplay, it shall be epic. Sucks that they removed the l4d2 demo.
-
How well will this game perform on a Nvidia GT 230M ? It has 1 GB DDR3.
-
Depends on your resolution and settings. I imagine if your res is 720p/1366x768 or less, you can pretty much max it out. Higher than that and you may have to adjust some settings like AA, shaders, effects, etc.

AK-47. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherer in the room, accept no substitutes.

The weapons stats thread on the Steam Forums have been updated with Versus stats. -
Well yeah, Im used to games running @ 1280x1024 max..
Dont know if that will be the case when my notebook arrives but 1366x768 or less sounds pretty good!
Another question.. is it recommendable to play and finish L4D 1 before playing part 2? How is the storyline etc? -
There's really little to no plot in the original L4D. There's basically the intro video which sets you up at the beginning of the No Mercy campaign, and beyond that there's really no continuity, just gameplay. L4D2 gives you a little more background and continuity between campaigns, but not a whole lot; it's still focused primarily on the gameplay itself.
-
I couldn't care less about the plot/story. The quotes are quite entertaining, but even better than that is more maps.
-
got my copy just a few minutes ago, installing now =D plan to have some fun later tonight.
-
Start in advanced. It is more fun.
-
I know, when I first started l4d1 I jumped into advanced with Forge and Soviet Sunrise, so advanced is what I'm used to doing now. Won't be any different with l4d2
-
Too bad there isnt a storyline, kinda hoped it was more than addicting hack'n'slash gameplay. Will look into The Saboteur.
Does someone have some other recommendable games with a good story to it? -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Well, there is continuity/storyline in the sense the campaigns flow into one another. I.e., you escape in a car in one campaign, and you start the next campaign with the same car stuck behind a car-wrecked highway. And also your final destination (Naw'Lins) is something you pick from the beginning, and not a random bunch of rescues.
And you should play just for Nick's and Ellis' quotes -
just played through 3 campaigns on advanced with forge, and I have to say it is definitely awesome. those chargers can be a pain tho. 'specially with my newfound sniper rifle attraction =P
-
You guys should add me on Steam some time, same name as here on the forum.
-
You don't want to play l4d with me lol, I suck. horribly. am surprised forge puts up with it xD
-
I don't know what it is about Ellis and his dialog... but every time I hear that 'Help! Help!' from Ellis when he is incapacitated I have to just LOL. Too funny. Rochelle has some great lines as well.

"You know what suck the head means?"
Meh, I play because it's fun and you actually do things I tell you to do, haha. If I wanted to be hardcore competitive, I'd play on Expert+Realism or Versus. -
ive been trying expert+realism for the 4th time, after complete failure after failure. we just...cant get past the 2nd or sometimes 3rd lvl of dead center, the first lvl is a piece of cake, the second one CAN be very tedious if u do a wrong start off (my rec. is biling the area, then quickly running away as zombies dont chase after you). then u approach this area where tank kept on getting us, the time we did make it past the 2nd lvl of dead center, we didnt encounter a tank? on the third lvl, we just got tired of restarting so much, and my friend ping was already so high (~450ms), so he quit out, shortly followed by me.
anyways, l4d2 is much moer fun than l4d1, versus mode is intense. i played for like 2-3hrs yesterday on same server, me + friend + 2 random ppl owned the hell out of the opposing team, they were often rage-quiting till the very end were opposing team got a stable amount of pplz. -
The third level of Dead Center is horrible, even on "normal" Expert. If you ask me, Swamp Fever is significantly easier on Expert, and presumably on Realism as well.
EIement, don't even worry about it. I'm not exactly pro either.
-
I can't wait, I just purchased this game for 30 bucks at gamestop and I'm downloading now on steam. I was playing l4d last night in anticipation hahaha.
-
I'm not the most satisfied with l4d2. I think they should have waited another 6 months to perfect it a bit more.
-
What exactly do you think needs another 6 months of perfecting?
-
-Amadeus Excello- Notebook Evangelist
That cannot be improved via DLC. -
That still doesn't answer my question. I was wondering what exactly he wasn't satisfied with that he feels another 6 months of development would have fixed?
-
Go play team-versus, and you will find out a lot of things you won't like about the game
. Not like its bad, but... the fact that sometimes you hit an
invisible ceiling when pouncing gives a pretty bad impression about quality assurance. You can't mortar-throw molotovs or rocks either, because they disappear into the sky :l You can have those things happen on the third level of The Parish.
-
Simple bugs, That can be fixed
-
I've been playing Versus since day 1, and I've found it incredibly fun. And yeah, the invisible ceiling can be annoying, but it's pretty rare.
-
A lot of "simple" bugs weren't fixed for Left 4 Dead 1, and I won't expect many to be fixed for the sequel. They might be fixing bugs now with regular updates, but they might stop after a while as they did with Left 4 Dead 1. Examples are crouch glitch for infected (fixed only for L4D2), spawning right in front of a survivor as infected (also only fixed for L4D2), and many map-specific bugs.
-
Oh it is fun indeed, I did never say it is not, but those little things really happen every now and then, and, as I said, don't give a good impression about QA. It just makes you think was simply rushed for the christmas season... but then again, Valve needs some incentive to not take 3+ years to make a game, so so be it.
-
Ah crouch glitching, my favorite pasttime.

I'm more looking forward to when fan-mad content gets released.
-
i must say, im loving the new scavenger mode, it's really fun to and intense when it comes the moment to collect the last gas can to beat hte team. + two ppl teams are a lot of fun, 2 guy are the backup members, always watching your back while the other two either collect or fill. it also adds a good element of gameplay to spitter, where its about strategically placing urself to not be found then spitting on the fuel refill area + destroying the teams gas cans.
-
manwithmustache Notebook Evangelist
Yeah I've been playing a ton of that for achievements, a lot more strategy involved rather than just "kill all the survivors!!" -
So after so many tries I finally got the gnome achievement on advance today! Anybody get it yet?
So many lives lost.... -
manwithmustache Notebook Evangelist
Yup, did it in easy so it was... easy!
-
ya, easy peezy. actually got it on my first time playin carni-level. i got 42/50 achievements. not gonna do the expert level or expert + realism ....those are hard. unless ppl who aere GOOD want to do it with me??

Carnival was one of the first levels I played in L4D2 the day it came out; I played through it with a few friends. We won the gnome after playing the shooting gallery game and took it all the way to the end, mostly as a joke. The whole time, we're wondering whether there was an award for it and wow, the amazement we all shared at the end when it actually counted for something.

Try to do Tank Burger on advanced. It's a scream.
Who is excited for L4D2!?!?
