also for guns, imo SPAS12 is basically identical to the M4 auto, and SPAS12 sounds/looks awesome so that is my top pick. you arent going to notice the +7 DPS in the M4-auto vs the spas12 lol...

If I'm reading this correctly, the SPAS-12 is best for getting close in and dirty with tanks or witches while the Benelli is the gun for general crowd control. Since the combat shotgun has less pellets-per-shot, it has less of a chance of doing less damage than the Benelli.

Or I don't know what I'm talking about. You decide.

 

It's nine pellets v 11 pellets. But the combat shotty pellets do more dmg. They perform as equals overall.

But they both are far superior than the assualt rifles on higher difficulties.

Well, I'm starting to change my mind about the AK, but it doesn't stagger the zombies.

 

The AK def has some good stopping power... but im a shotty guy myself heh

 

The AK just doesn't provide any substantial advantage over the sniper rifles on adv/expert.

The AK's huge spread makes makes full auto a waste of ammo. Plus the scoped rifles take down zombies in one shot, making it far more efficient in taking down multiple targets.

It's great on versus though. It packs enough firepower to take down hordes with confidence.

Anyone notice how much weaker the tank is now? The melee weapons trash the tank on versus.

 

I am having so much fun with this game. I play it on my desktop with a 22in 1080p monitor which the game is maxed out on 1920 x 1080 and it is just beautiful. So much better than the first Left for Dead.

 

I enjoy this coop model far more than team deathmatch.

 

yeah but you have to be dumb enough to get next to the tank lol and he still has a significant melee advantage over you.

 

A skillful tank wouldn't even have the survivors close to it unless they are boomed or occupied doing something else. Granted, you can get lucky and get a few double-punches at them if you rush them, but that goes with a huge risk... try doing it with an organized group of survivors who aren't boomed or anything, and see what happens.

I agree that the tank has been nerfed even more though... now he does not only have to worry about fire, but also about bile jars, snipers, grenade launchers, incendiary and explosive ammo, melee weapons (does 10% health damage), and other stuff I will likely find out about.

 

So the tank is not so much nerfed as just at a higher disadavantage than he used to be.

You have snipers on there, I dont seem to do much dmg to a tank with a sniper rifle and you dont want to be all sniper mode where your far away and alone or your just easy pickings for the rest of the enemy team.

I still stand by what I said being close to the tank is the worst place to be because he has a much larger advantage than you do and the infected have infinity lifes the survivors do not so its all about conserving health and playing smart not kamikaze tank axing.

In L4D1 the skilled tank setup traps by getting environmental hazzards built up like cards and trash dumpsters and used those to attack often insta KO the entire enemy team, it was cheap but it worked. L4D2 doesnt seem to have as many of those about but I have not really played that much, just a few co-op complains and one versus match.

 

Wait until you see the bumper car portion of one of the Dark Carnival maps. Every single bumper car is a instant incapactitate if a tank bats it at you.

 

Ughh, the Bile jar sux for the tank. It use to be so much to be the tank. Now it is kind of lame.

It takes less than 10 hits to kill the tank on Versus BTW. I haven't counted, but in L4D1 the tank had 6K health on versus, and 8K on adv/expert. He takes roughly the same amount of shotgun shells like the first game. But it looks like sniper rifles do more dmg against him than in the first game.

On the other hand, it seems like it is easier to run the survivors out of ammo.

 

Now it's much harder for a tank to singlehandedly incapacitate an entire team. He requires his teammates to scatter and pick off stragglers while he concentrates and get them all incapacitated. As long as the survivors can stick together and put some firepower on the tank it's a done deal and tank will be nothing more than a nuisance.

The tank used to be a one man job, now it requires the other special infected as well.

 

It use to be noob teams would get owned by the tank. No, if you take all the survivors down as the tank, then you sir are 1337.

 

Yeah in the versus games I've been playing, I find people controlling as tank either being a lot more cautious or die quickly

I'm starting to adore the AK in versus.

 

What could have made the game more interesting is if they had introduced shotguns with removable magazines, like an AA12 or a Pancor. The MO for all shotguns is the same. You can fire whenever you want, but when you reload you only do it one shell at a time. Something with a removable magazine could have changed things up a bit.

 

I've been digging that sniper with the 30 round mag capacity, and I never used sniper in the first L4D

 

The Sniper rifles are more useful in versus since you got melee weapons to deal with zombies on the run.

 

Can anyone confirm or deny if this game scales well with crossfire? I've been reading conflicting reports all over the internet that there is very little difference in CF, to it scales wonderfully with crossfire.

Just completed a good VS. round on Dead Carnival. My team was solid however, the opposing team kept rage quitting (even though they were winning at first) so they really never had a solid team. Was still good fun though, they put up a good challenge and managed to kill us in a couple of rounds. One of our guys made it in the finale and we managed to kill em all when they had their chance in the finale.

L4D2 is lots of fun when you have decent teams and mics.

 

Me and my buddies were looking forward to the release of this for half a year, then when the release came we were and still are too addicted to playing MW2 to play it much lol

It is fun though from what I've played so far. Melee much appreciated. Want to try out the gnome thing for lulz and properly try out versus.

 

Coop play is always more fun with a decent team

 

I have dual Radeon HD 4670 512MB in my desktop - L4D2 is very smooth maxed out at 1920x1200. I tested CrossFireX support in the original L4D, and performance improved about 30% with CrossFireX enabled.

I'll need to do more testing with L4D2 and updated drivers.

 

I can confirm that L4D2 uses CrossFire. With a single HD 4670, I average around 45-58 FPS, but with CF enabled, that number is 85 to well over 100.

I've been on 9.7, the one "windows updates" installs automatically. I think that may be an issue. I've been hesitant to chance because this version has been the most stable for me.

 

I am using Catalyst 9.10. I noticed that I had to alt+tab in and out of L4D2 to get CrossFire to work . . . it was the same deal with the original L4D.

OK, I'm really loving the AK now. I'm come to the conclusion that since the levels are more open, a rifle has become more useful compared the the CQB that was prevalent through out L4D1.

 

I care because I am flat broke and every cent I earn goes to my parents for my new car they just bought me (inb4 spoiled brat and what not, I'm not) and the only way I'm going to be able to get l4d2 anytime soon is if I trade in games.....

The only thing I don't like about the AK is how inaccurate it is at long distance. I know it's for balancing, but still.

And I need to mod the sound files. An AK should not sound that puny.

Nah it can random spawn at other places too, the gun shop is the only "set" place you'll find it. I've seen it in pretty much all the other maps too beside dark carnival

 

yeah laser sights spawn in random places on all maps. one time it spawned on the coaster in dark carnival.
