Seriously! I played the game for PS3... big disappointment if you are looking for a Falcon type simulator. The flight dynamics and physics are disgusting. Pulling a 4 second turn at an impossible 2500 knots, or stalling when going under 1500 knots and the like.

However, for a completely unrealistic arcade game, its not bad, and provides decent gameplay.

 

I think that's what most people are looking for. It's been a while since even a good arcade flyer was released. Last ones I remember on PC are the Blazing Angels series....

Yes, I also had a few crashes. I thought it was my PC since I just reformatted and had driver issues or something. Not only freezing, but BSoD.

Could MS have put something in a recent update to cause this? Hmmmm, no Microsoft would NEVER do anything like that!

 

well, gonna let it finish, for the second time ha... Gotta get some work done, link seems to be holding up well though, seems steady for me at about 1.2-1.3 this time. Curious to see how it runs on the PC compared to the 360.

 

So what controls is everyone going to use to play this? Keyboard/mouse? Or do you have a joystick or Xbox controller?

 

X360 controller. I feel like my joystick would be wasted on that game.

 

Game runs awesome on my system. All maxed inc. 4xAA with avg 29fps and 98fps max.

 

i didnt play with any settings but it shoudlnt run fine with my system

played for a couple of hours, the part in the trainning mission where you cant see in your ship or anything was bloody hard, the section where you have to shoot down the drone fighters that have missiles but i am playing on expert

didnt think it was too good then but after playing the mission i began to enjoy it alot more also on expert

 

Downloading now at just over 1MB/s, so excited!

 

so far I'm happy... translated just fine to the PC. It actually runs good on my Tablet as well, so in my opinion that means it's at least decently optimized.

And, after playing with it some more, I'm actually starting to like the unassisted camera thing... I always loved padlock views in my other sims, and this is essentially that concept, just tweaked a bit. Seems to fit the game though, and enhances the action feel I guess. Kind cool watching your plane and the vapor effects, along with the sonic boom ha, missiles flying everwhere with their smoke trails. Fun game, enjoying it. Glad it runs well and looks good on PC's as well.

 

god i hated the unassisted camera, it was so hard to get lock on enemies, maybe with more practice i might be able to get better with it.

yeah it was good, will be looking into getting the game - depending on price

 

I can't wait for the full release now.

 

Haven´t tested on laptop yet, but my desktop eats this game to breakfast 8xAA 60 fps constant, no drops whatsoever. Will throw in more AA there

 

My thoughts on the demo:

>I can't customize my joystick buttons meaning when in cockpit mode so I can't pan around using the HAT switch.

>All planes handle terribly unrealistically with assistance off.

>Flight dynamics suck, 90-degree turn at 1,500mph?

>Planes stall way too quickly.

>Getting out of a stall is horribly unrealistic.

>Enemy planes stick on your tail as if you were towing them with a line.

>All planes have the same speed?

>No cockpit mode with assistance off.

>No HUD when in cockpit mode.

>Planes seem to have no real advantages over each other.

Needless to say I'm about to cancel my preorder, I was horribly disappointed by the demo. Here's to waiting 8-months and getting a crappy game.

Your first mistake was downloading such a big file with Chrome, your second mistake was not using FireFox and DownloadThemAll.

I've just finished playing the demo and... nope the joystick just won't do it... Please Capcom, port Ace Combat on PC.

Runs well on my system, seemed fine even at 1080p high settings DX9. DX10 is atrocious... but controlling a plane with a keyboard is cumbersome, I'll have to try the 360 controller later...

 

I was hoping for H.A.W.X. to be not too arcady, but not too realistic. It's just terrible, F my life, these terrible days just get worse and worse and the one thing, the one game that looked cool and could have made me feel better, turned out to suck.

 

Too arcady...game seemed very "shallow".
