Oh, that. Yes, I did, but I won't be getting anything new for probably another year.
-
BFBC2 runs very nicely on my Laptop, the p-7805u that I bought last year. It has the WUXGA screen so I run @ 1920x1200 instead of 1400x900. I get 35-40 fps average with High settings on everything except Medium shadows and no AA or AF. It can get a bit lower in fps in some scenes with a lot of smoke or a lot of action going on especially in the Force Multiplayer single player level. Otherwise it's extremely smooth and ejoyable on my system. Watch the videos I posted and judge for yourself.
-
anyone playing on a P8400? let me know..
-
I probably will be soon. But mine has a 3650, not a 9800M.
-
how does the 3650 compare to a 9800m gts? I would love to see your results! I'm still on the fence about purchasing this game...
-
I think the 3650 is about half the power.
I think you should purchase it anyway. From what I hear, it's well worth the price, and at any rate, you should be able to run it at medium detail at 1440 x 900, maybe a littler bit higher if you're lucky. -
I feel you, i'm fairly confident it'll run fine, but after my experiences with purchasing GTA4 and getting a POS, i'm waiting to know 100% that it'll run
Maybe i'm just being picky but $50 is $50 -
Yeah Singleplayer really has no performance issues. Try to play Multiplayer with those settings on a 32 man server, and I bet you wont get over 25 FPS.
-
Just bought the game for $20 as part of the sale that ended about 15 minutes ago. I'll be playing it on my desktop with a Q9550 and a HD 4890, so hopefully I'll be able to max it out.
-
Sale is still on, just purchased it myself.

Running on max settings without AA on native 1920x1200 resolution on my 24" external monitor as well, didn't check the FPS, but it's more than smooth enough, specs in my sig.

Come on 5870 price drops!!!
-
Not likely going to see a 5870 price drop anytime soon, it's already cheaper than the most powerful nvidia mobile offering, and nvidia is not going to come up with any respectable competition to 5870M in months or even a year to come.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I was talking about the desktop version.
-
Is anyone else experiencing tearing of the picture? It seems as though no matter what i do, VSYNC just wont come on... and i see a lot of jagged lines as well meaning that AA is not on... i max everything out in game and then even force AA and VSYNC through the catalyst control panel but to no avail. what am i doing wrong? (this is for a desktop 5850)
Oh and on a UL30Vt-A1 the game is totally unplayable
-
I have the 5870 card with 10.2 drivers (desktop) and i had to use D3Doverrider (comes with rivatuner, but can be used seperate) to force vsync.
As to why aa isn't working i dunno, seems to work fine for me.
Try updating drivers/installing new profiles (as discussed earlier in the thread) and see if it fixes the problem. -
i'd say 3650 is a 1/3 as powerful as 9800M GTS...
-
yea so far so good on my rig! i'll post settings/fps soon...
-
I play it on PS3....it was cheap
-
booo... computer gaming is the best
-
high settings except for shadows medium , no AA or hsao, 16x af
30 to 25 fps on 1280x768 resolution. -
I use he G73JH at 1280x720 resolution with 2x AA and HIGH everything and its silky smooth. I dont think I use HSAO... come to think of it... what is that?
-
do you really have to lower the res with the 5870?
-
LOL!!! AT THAT G73 running low native.
4850, Q9000, 4gb DDR2800 running 1080p max settings with no AA and no hbao?
testing native now.
Running full at native 1440 x 900 with 4xaa and hbao on.
CPU usage at 50% though, it refuses to go over, i thought it was meant to be a pretty CPU intense game? -
Using my C90S with an external monitor: 1280x720, medium textures, everything else low or off. I get between 17 and 40 fps which feels surprisingly smooth enough. Lowering the resolution didn't seem to help increase fps though.
-
Maxed at 1920x1200, but had to turn AA to x2 instead of x8
lol
-
For those of you bellow 30 fps, I enjoy fragging you guys
Thank you very much for the kills haha.
-
No... unless you demand silky smooth frame rates that never drop below 60. I normally game on my desktop that I put together myself with 2 Nvidia 285's OC'd connected to a 40" samsung 1080p 120hz. If I could have brought my rig with me to Iraq I would have trust me. This laptop is a beast for laptop but cannot come close to that performance of my desktop.

Just went 28-3 on BC2, 6 of which were knifes. sweet. Gotta love RUSH -
yeah rush is my favorite mode also.
-
I had to use D3DOverrider to fix that for me. It's probably part of that "only works correctly on Nvidia GPUs" bull manufacturers are pulling now. I still haven't figured out how to get AA enabled, but I game ob a 40" TV and sit far enough back that I don't notice.
-
Ok I got this game and it runs great. I run it with all medium settings, DX9, HBAO and Vsync off, and 4x AS. My screen resolution is 1280x800, and I run the game at 1024x768 but stretch it but with the same aspect ratio. Therefore, it looks like I have AA on when I have 0 MSAA. The game looks amazing (IMO), and it runs and feels great.
My setup: Sager NP2096 with Intel C2D P8400 (2.26ghz), 4GB Ram, Nvidia 9600M GT with everything at stock speeds. I'm thinking about maybe OC'ing my CPU/GPU some day. I might be able to use even higher settings then.
Just sharing my 2 cents. -
BF BC2 runs awesome with a [email protected] and 260m gtx overclocked.
All maxed everything on, I get 25-32 in intense action scenes. and 35-50 in most areas without action. -
I get around 25-30 frames per second on my 8800GT.
-
Hey guys.. Good Thread. Thinking about getting this game.
Do you think I will be disappointed with the performance running it on Core 2 T9300 @ 2.50Ghz and an 8800M 512 GTX?
Loved both BF2 & 2142 so It's almost a done deal.
Cheers. -
If anyone wants their game to run smoothly on their laptop just go into the gamesettings.ini file the BFBC2 folder in Doccuments and change dxversion=auto to dxversion=9
On cards that are lower than nVidia GT200 mobile cards or lower than Ati 5xxx mobile this will make your game so much better it is ridiculous. It will obviously still boost performance for the top tier nVidia and Ati users, it is just that the gens below the current ones have a terrible time with DX10 and this game defaults to it.
You can thank me later
Also if you want real widescreen FOV as the game looks ridiculous on a widescreen monitor in the same file change FOV to 75 from 55 and the game will actually look like a PC game and not a crappy zoomed in console game.
Like I said... you can thank me later. -

Here are some handy adjustments you may try if you need more performance.

I play this on my desktop Quad Core Q9550 @ 3.4GHz, eVGA GTX 260 Core 216 (overclocked), 8GB DDR2 (4x2GB), 80GB Intel G2 SSD and at 1920x1200 with max detail it runs very well.
I also play quite a bit on my Sager in my sig: Quad core Q9200 2.4GHz, GTX 260m 4GB DDR2, 500GB 7200RPM, and at 1680x1050 with medium detail it runs very well ~ 30FPS
And finally, periodically on my M11x with DX9 and detail mix of low/medium it plays very well at ~ 30fps. -
I finished the game pretty much maxed out 1920*1200. It was very smooth and a great looking game. I love blowing up buildings - way better than Red Faction.
-
is there any visual diff between dx11, 10, or 9 (except for the machine gun bug on dx9) ???
I turned off bloom and I might dropped down to dx10 if there sisnt much visual diff just for an fps boost -
Sup Sobek.
No their is no visual difference between and DX versions in this game. The engine is built on DX9, so the game runs better, and is more efficient when using dx9.
DICE has given more graphic options to the user if you are using DX10 + 11, but other than those two options their is no visual difference. Even when AA is applied to DX10, it only applies to the gun model and anything in the AF range --- screams of a console port. -
cool, thnx chev
-
I need a rig that can play this without dipping bellow 50 fps..
-
for goodness sakes , u can play any game at 24-30fps.. don't complain so much.. u already got something good.. and better than me .
-
Actually that is not true Sean. There is significant mouse lag at 30 fps.
-
My laptop plays 30-40 fps and I don't get any mouse lag.
-
i get 50/60 fps online with 32 players. all max and 1x msaa and 4xfsa 1440x900
see sig for specs/ -

HTWingnut - Which notebook do you utilize for BFBC2? Is it possible to get 30-40 with m11x and look decent in multiplayer?
Thanks,
