It's an excellent game, well worth playing through. As for the soundtrack, look for "Reign of the Septims", it's the title piece, and pretty awesome.

 

Geez, this is a very nice piece.

All I remember is the king nattling at me and driving me nuts.

 

Haha yeah, the intro tutorial bit where you have to escort the Emperor and escape through the sewers is tedious (in fact, one of the worst ways to start a video game, ever). But once you actually get out into the world it's awesome. It was quite amazing the first time I finished the tutorial and stepped out of the dark gray sewers into the bright sunlit world of Cyrodiil. If your computer can afford the pretty visuals, it's quite a sight.

 

I'm a major fan of the Modern Warfare 2 Boneyard Soundtrack, and also the music from the very end of the game.

The soundtracks from tomb raider series have always been my most favorite, and the main theme song from Tomb Raider: Legend is my #1 of all the time!!

erig007, most people were doing original soundtracks. But now that you mention it, Need for Speed games have had some great soundtracks.

Some of my favorites were from NFS: Underground, also the best game in the series imo. The songs blend so seamlessly into the racing and get your adrenaline pumping especially in a tight race!

If you play the game on expert mode, the swirling, martial music makes the level insanely intense.

Been listening to Shin Contra and Guilty Gear X Heavy Metal Tracks the most of the late I think. But I like to que up my entire Final Fantasy music collection on random when I go to bed.

 

also, it's kind of annoying to put the 25 pixel videos, there's no PAUSE BUTTON!

the soundtrack for Carmageddon 1 was all instrumental songs by Fear Factory.

You could play the game CD on a stereo to hear just the sountrack. I still have that CD somewhere. It was very good.

 

Um, the pause/play button at the very start of the bar?

And the quality on that first track is terrible, but I love the song. Awesome as a bass tester too. I'll bet it sounds awesome on the Klipsch ProMedia set of yours - it sounds awesome on my Z-2300's.

Yeah, Hans Zimmer did a great job with the MW2 soundtrack. I can't wait for it to be released on its own.

I'll also mention the Unreal Tournament 2004 soundtrack. It's all fairly ordinary-sounding upbeat electronic music with some electric guitar thrown in, but it fits the gameplay's frantic pacing and futuristic settings perfectly.

Zelda has been mentioned before, but I think Ocarina of Time has not. It has some REALLY catchy tunes. Here's some:

Kokiri Forest -- where you start. I think the best description is one of the comments on youtube: "I want this song to play when I walk out my front door for work every morning."

Lost Woods, a.k.a. Saria's Song. My personal favorite. There's people on Youtube playing in on the piano too. WARNING: It's really catchy, you'll whistle it before you know it!

Windmill hut. This one is for a small hut with a windmill that's always going around, so the "merry-go-round-like" theme suits it perfectly.

Lon Lon Ranch, a really quiet place where you get your horse.

Ocarina of Time has some really catchy tunes. The music alone is worth the 10 euros I paid for it on the Wii. And the fact that you must learn (simplified) the songs and play them to solve puzzles... brilliant. Those guys at SEGA and Nintendo were really kings of game music back in the day.

Also, Metroid Prime has a really nice tune for the Magmoor Caverns (a lava level), and for the Phendrana Drifts (an ice level), which afterwards has a remixed version when you get to the harder parts of the level.

I just LOVE it when games have several songs with the same melody underneath. Ristar was king for this.

 

More Zelda remixes than you can shake a stick at.

 

Oblivion had such an epic soundtrack.

 

Newer games can have good music too!

You just reminded me of the only thing MG2 is missing that MG1 had... Rosalina! She was so much better than a fat purple dude.

As for topic, I think I already posted it but I like pretty much any Nobuo Uematsu music, known primarily for his Final Fantasy games and other Squaresoft titles.

I am a HUGE video game music aficionado. I enjoy all kinds of VGM, especially from the 8-bit and 16-bit gaming eras.
