No a bunch of us love it. I beat it like 4 times on expert and still loving the game.

ugh i played Zombie Panic for 10 hours today...my eyes are going to melt
i finally gave up when 2 guys barricaded themselves in the bathroom with a couch and for 10 minutes we couldnt talk 30 zombies into moving aside so we could tip it backwards away from the wall....stupid zombies
this isnt just the best mod ive ever played, its one of the best games ive ever come across, a brilliant mod, and its FREE
you just cannot do a great zombie game with AI, not on the level that you get with ALL HUMAN zombies AND survivors, the level design in this game is amazing, for anyone interested i suggest getting started with the Cabin map, maybe Subway too although subway is hard to grasp at first in terms of layout, its huge -
Left. 4. Dead. is the best ever. (imo)
CSS zombie mod don't have nothing on this
Zombie Panic has nothing on this -
Played Zombie Panic today, was awesome wven with 250 ping on the best possible server
-
Left 4 Dead definitely blows everything out of the water so far. And only the campaign is available right now.
-
zombie panic is a bit on the dull side ;\ tried playn again and just couldn't get into it..... i hope im not missing something
-
It's a bit linear. There are more options in Left 4 Dead. Especially teamwork-wise.
-
are you serious?! you really think left 4 dead is less linear than Zombie Panic?! thats exactly the opposite of what i think; i feel like im on rails when playing left 4 dead, moving from point a to point b in a straight unwavering path, not at all like Zombie Panic on an Objectives map
oh and if anyone has the stuttering you have to set CPU affinity to only 1 core, its a multi-core bug many people are having -
Based on what is intended to be released along with the full game, I really don't think it is. You're forgetting the demo is only the campaign. There will be other features, and with that an extended, or full rather, campaign. This is the best time to round up your 3 best friends and have a kick *** time to.
-
can anyone comment on cpu usage
it seems to max out both of my cores 100% i have a T5550 1.8Ghz
the stuttering is fixed by disabling one of the cores in task manager but your fps falls by 50% -
So far I'm having a blast with L4D, even tho its not even a full campaign I find my self playing it over and over, pretty addictive
-
Source Engine games are quite CPU intensive, but your GPU is still the bottleneck here i guess
-
I am playing the demo on my T5270 1.4Ghz 8600GT Laptop with no issues....runs silky smooth. What video card do you have? Also, try putting your settings a little lower (I am playing on all medium).
-
It's not your gpu. Try finding a dedicated server (does it stutter in sp?). Had some major stuttering myself on my first run through but a system reboot fixed that.
-
the stuttering is a confirmed issue with multi-core cpu's, but only some of them apparently, and no its not the GPU i have a 8800GTS and like i said both of the cores are maxed in task manager 100% with the game on
seriously considering getting a x7800 or x9000 -

I pre-ordered the game today and got the demo. Good stuff, very enjoyable and it has great replayability since the game is never the same.
No stuttering on my desktop. Haven't tried it on the laptop yet. -
Consider a T9300... I love mine; reasonably priced, cool, low power consumption, no stuttering in L4D
.
-
the stuttering is not a cpu problem its a valve problem, and it better be fixed pronto because alot of people are pissed
-
what stuttering?
-
I've played this on a few different PC's so far, no stuttering issue so far. This game does has a few problems related to the matchmaking that I haven't said before.
The stuttering might be the server lagging. I've noticed that almost every server I play on is very laggy, usually I won't find a server that's ever under 100ms, and has some stuttering and bursts of higher lag. I think the problem is that server hosts are trying to make more use of thier underpowered server computers and running multiple servers on a single server PC. Not only maxing out thier computer's CPU, but network as well. There's also very little incentive for server hosts to run servers for L4D because of the random matchmaking method. If the server host can't run a clan specific server for clan members only, or for recruitment etc. Why would they want to run a L4D server? Most people like myself also see it this way, Why should I run a server for this game if I myself will never benefit from it, not only that but I can't even use my own server for when I want to play because it fills up instantly with random people.
Now because people like myself who would normally run a server aren't doing it, there are faaaaar less servers. Many people will be trying to max out a single server PC with as many as 40+ servers per PC, Servers will be less local and games will be laggy like they are now.
There's a simple way to fix this though, to keep the matchmaking system, but also make it easier for server hosts to have fun on thier own servers, and make everyone less laggy!
First, make the matchmaking take about 5-10 seconds finding people who are also looking for a match, and put them in a room based on thier latency to one another. Also make a button that allows you to make a lobby with you as host and before the lobby is created you have the choice right there to connect to a reserved server you own, or host a listen one.
When you click Start the game in a lobby as leader, immediately give the options to host a listen server, find random server, or type in an IP & pass for a personal dedicated server you host/own.
Allow people to change an option that lets people only connect to a server under a certain ping limit rather than connecting to only the first available server when players choose the random server button a lobby leader. All too often I'll do find a random match, and the lobby leader finds a random server only for us all to have red bars, and my latency is over 200. I would rather wait another 5 minutes than to play a server with a 1/5th second delay. -
I believe they're just forgoing the matchmaking and switching back to the good ol' choose your server route. I hate matchmaking.
-
the stuttering is a cpu issue that is fixed by disabling the 2nd core in task manager, but like i said that destroys your fps since the game is very cpu intensive
this is in single player mode offline so i cant guarrantee it is present in multiplayer mode but logically it should be -
will it run on xps m1530 very good?
-
I've not encountered any stuttering myself. My specs are in my sig (Dual core). I run it on max settings 1920x1200 8xAA 8xAS.
-
Jus played through the demo and Ive got to say, i bloody love it. Reminds me a lot of the original AvP where you have a swarm mode, where its basically jus kill as many aliens as you can. Aint played it online yet but can imagine, playing it with mates would be brilliant. Also helps that im a massive zombie fan, so yus!, Im rather loving this game/demo
-
demo for everyone tomarrow
maybe online will work for me

It is multiplayer COOP, but in order to unlock this in the retail game, you must beat the single player campagn. -

Demo's out!! Installing now.
-
oh my god, thanks mate!
EDIT: got proper download mirrors? -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
I don't know of any mirrors - I'm just downloading through Steam.
Since it's a Valve game, you'd need to install Steam anyway.
EDIT: Playing it now. So...awesome...can't...breathe.... -
i have legit steam and everything (got Orange box and CSS) but my internet seems to be scr3w3d, the screen is stuck at updating.. 0%
-
i played the demo online with people...no server window where you can sort by map or ping etc, cant even see what your ping is in-game...its terrible
anyways the game is just as bad playing with other people as it is playing with AI, in fact this is the first time i can remember where i could hardly tell the difference whether i was playing with humans or AI...thats pretty sad
im done with this game...i really really hope that valve doesnt get large profits for this game because that would just encourage others to make these mindless games -
harsh criticism for a game thats a demo w/ only 1 level
ill hold my judgement till i get more from the game and not just this -
i just played it and it was fun but there was a lot of lag. dont know if i would spend that much money on the full game.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
One word. Awesome.
But...they need to fix the match making, there are a lot of problems with people and servers disconnecting. -
Haven't had a chance to play it.
But I've talked to a few friends that did, and everyone of them said it was awesome. Can't wait for the full release to come out -
someone was commenting on here about zombie panic!... well i tried it last night and was soooo dissapointed. whoever talked about it made it seem like it was going to be so much fun. instead i was bored out of my mind! so slow and the mod just seems "empty" .. anyone else get this impression? i think im going to uninstall it now
-
Ditto. Same exact thing happened to me. They must have ties to the devs because I thought the game was horrible. I uninstalled it already.
-
Waaaaay pretentious. The games not even out yet... seriously now?
