Any driver with any sort of modded inf after 381.89 won't install on my machine no matter what I do. As soon as I go back to 381.89 or earlier it works. Dunno what's the problem

 

I still remember 15 years ago, before ForceWare and then GeForce, when Nvidia drivers used to be named Detonator. Now they just detonate your system LUL.

Might as well spend that time better. I tried it multiple times, my friends tried it multiple times. Same verdict.
That game is trying to do way too much at the same time. Its will fall off just like Evolve did.

Where are your benchmark tests? Already managed to fry your graphics?
And new is always better than old Windoze 7 and 8.1 issues ain't pointed out in ReleasedNotes

 

i should really learn to mod these drivers myself but i don't have the touch that j95 has. LOL

- DDU
- Disable driver signing
- 7-Zip  -> extracted driver package >> delete folders as shown above (don't skip this step) <<
- Display.Driver folder -> copy only the corresponding INF file(s) below -> run setup.exe -> custom -> clean install option -> "Installation Successful” -> close installer.
- nvidiaProfileInspector -> "import profile(s)" -> "refresh current profile".
- Reboot
- Nvidia Control Panel -> Change resolution -> "Use Nvidia color settings" -> Manage 3D settings -> Set Performance options.

This is what i did (1st timer)

Download latest GTX1070 desktop driver.
Copy and replace it in the the display.driver folder.
Drag and drop the modded INFs into the display.driver folder (made by J95)
Delete the excess folders not needed as per J95
Uninstall existing nvidia driver WITH DDU in safe mode
I disable driver signing enforcement through CMD.
Install modded GTX1070 desktop driver, than auto restart.

I still get some slight flickering but wayyyy lesss than the mobile version of gtx1070. I read on reddit and forums the flicering is a slight problem. Sometimes goes away etc.
I got an error after saying kernal something driver nvidia 384.94 stopped working but has recovered for bf. r6 just flickers in menu. huge fps increase, lower heat too

Rise of the tomb raider maxed out 0screen flickering

actually i fixed it! i read on nvidia forums and reddit alot of gsync problems!
simple fix

GSYNC Application Requested State: Dissallow
GSYNC Application State: Dissallow

I did that and noticed 0 flicerking ! The rest is default.
Runs smooth and still get high fps!

 

ah sweet. glad it was a gsync issue cos i don't have gsync available.

 

This is an old trick for getting around a particular bad Nvidia update in a full package install - only install what you want from the new driver package and install an older version of what you don't want from the new package.

In this case, uninstall the new GFE and install an old one - so you no longer need to login just to access GFE features

How to Permanently Fix GeForce Experience & Share Feature

 

I removed most of them including Telemetry, Ansel, GFE, Nvidia Shield, Updater etc by following @j95 picture. So far it can OC very good and feels more snappy w/o additional addons from nvidia. Completely Stock Driver.
Note: Don't reboot after deleting folder, it simply turns read-only so installer must be extracted again.

 

Wow so the Doom keeping the clocks high after exiting is indeed an nvidia bug? Haha glad this mystery is solved.

By default all of the driver package elements are installed, you must have done a Custom install and not selected it.

If installing GFE didn't fix your display driver issue, then that's not a big surprise...sounds like you need to do other debugging. Leaving GFE in or out isn't the problem.

 

"Delete folders shown above" - Does this mean delete all folders except what is left above in the picture's right hand side?

 

it means keep whatever is in the image.

 

With nvidiaProfileInspector what am I exporting/importing exactly? I've never used a custom driver and I am just trying to figure this out.

 

I used to use this method but i doesn't work for me anymore. Once the old GFE is installed it doesn't list my 1080ti as compatible because it's looking for 680,780s etc. Has anyone else encountered this?... I'm perplexed

 

If it is from a time before the 1080ti, it won't work. Try finding a version new enough to see it, but not so new as to have forced login. IDK what version that would be, but release date 1080ti vs Nvidia release date - there are a number of sites that keep all Nvidia releases if Nvidia pulls them down.

If you're using the old GFE only for ShadowPlay, just add -shadowplay to the end of the GFE shortcut target. That'll allow you to turn SP on/off and customize its settings without opening GFE.

Also remember to disable the unnecessary services installed along with GFE (Nvidia GFE service, Nvidia network service, Nvidia streamer network service, and Nvidia streamer service) so it doesn't try to auto-update GFE to version 3:

You can still use SP and launch GFE just fine with all those disabled, they just won't be added to your startup routine or be constantly running in the background.

 

It's just profiles but the importing doesn't seem to work.

 

Thanks for that. Nvidia shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. Making you sign in for marketing to access your own hardware after the fact.

 

i did exactly what i was supposed to do and did a full install.
no idea why but either way dnt need GFE

It seems Nvidia unlocked a couple of features in an answer to yesterdays released AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100. My internet speed can barely stream 4K, so by the time I see 4K video my HW would be updated anyway

 

The million dollar question is, "Can I overclock my GPUs better with it and get higher benchmark scores with it?" And, that will be the only measurement that matters to me. If the answer is not affirmative I will have no use for it.

 

Don't have big hopes. If AMD's new graphics can't push Nvidia down from the performance top. We already know the results.

Is this something needed for the MSI 1070 in his P870DM-G?

 

Because most of the fixes, with there being only one, pertain to the Titan Xp... So this is totally useless.
