Well, that's a bit harsh. If the driver is a better driver without any of the Titan Xp fixes that still counts for something, don't you think? Now, if it is a bad driver, that's a different story.

Not particularly, he's probably using an outdated version and/or without the right permission.

Well, that is always a question... an " IF" in all caps, bold italics, where GeFarts drivers are concerned. I find about 1 out of 15 or 20 are actually excellent for overclocked benching and the rest are either ordinary or suck. But, the only way to know is to test and find out. It can also vary by system which driver works best. I've had some that work fantastic for me and not for others, or vice versa.

I've lost track of these GPU drivers with continuous retardedness from Futuremark thanks to Micro$lop and Ngreedia, Can anyone suggest me a good driver to update to for my old Maxwell card, I'm still on the one in my Sig. Thanks.

This version is driver is good enough for playing games and general tasks. Use @j95 modded BIOS. There are lot of improvements in Nvidia driver specifically telemetry, increased crap services and lot more. Just follow @j95 advice to remove unnecessary stuff and download modded drivers.
After removing those unneeded folders the driver is pretty slick just like 370 series drivers. Anyway, refer post #16 nVIDIA GeForce Drivers v384.94 Findings & Fixes
    EDIT: Fixed typo.

Thanks, Yeah I know about that Nvidia crap telemetry & junkware, GeForced Experience Bloatware/Spyware, I always used J95's drivers only since the start ;)
Just want to have a stable driver which does have good performance without any issues..

    Okay..
FSUltra says "Test Run was cancelled by user"
FS normal says Error 16 "Workload failed to produce results" the damn Benchmark starts that loading screen goes like 1/3 and bam closes and shows this...Any ideas ?

    WTF.

Edit : What is going on, I tried to Run the 3DM11 Perf, it failed 2 times and Then it ran until the combined test then froze at loading, Next I upgraded the driver to the 385.12 beta and ran the FS it ran once (I couldn't find my NVCP settings, Boo.. That picture is missing !!) And Now it won't run...same above error.

Seriously ? What in the hell is happening ? FK this Microshite for messing up every software...

The last few releases of 3DMark are unstable trashware, and benchmark scores are inconsistent when it does not crash. Time Spy is even worse than Fire Strike.

i get the same error when my OC is too high...i'm more leaning towards an unstable OC but 3Dmark itself could be the problem.

Some drivers suck and are too unstable for overclocking, but 3DMark has turned into a worthless piece of trash for the most part.

The newest stable version was released in December 15. Everything since then has been hit or miss in terms of random crashing to the desktop..

    https://www.techpowerup.com/download/futuremark-3dmark-timespy/#changes-v2-2-3509

The most stable drivers for benching, that consistently produce better benchmark scores, are 375.70 and 378.66.

Later 37x drivers had issues with 3Dmark plus high oc of +170 or more. Stock clocks is fine.

Re-read bro @Ashtrix post. He has problems with older 3Dm11 also. Have seen this from a few other users as well. It's the combo... Micro@****, Nvidia and Futuremark. All of them create trash nowadays. Worse than ever. Started early Aug last year. Aka after the new Windoze X Anniversary edition was released!! + Trashware aka BGA.

The driver I was using was fairly old one, last year October lol The game caching stuff wasn't good at all, plus the dll trick needed for playing new games which makes the NVCP not accessible plus no proper GPU clocks monitoring. So I wanted to upgrade, And I just remembered the post of yours Mr Fox and Papusan about the first wave of unstable trashware 3DM when Winblows X A$$versary update was out, who can forget that Win 10's 10240's LVDS bricks + Unstable blackscreen errors on Aftermarket upgraded machines.

I should have followed that, struck me late.., Barely any software that M$ compatible is not auto borked or gimped, higher clock 3DM won't start ? WTH !! I paid for that damn thing and it breaks often..Now I uninstalled the Steam 3DMark install, Downloaded the correct version, will also downgrade the drivers back and test...Hopefully this works.. The sour taste of the older Win8.1 OS's permanent gimp by Nvidia on Maxwell Is still unforgettable.

It's like Micro$haft wants us to have only their auto driver update B$, Ngreedia want's us to stop OCing or bother with the GPUs even when they are like riddled with cancerous trash throttle, now with proprietary MXM standards to fk the old true machines and Intel wants us to bend to the BGA-junk by paying more for every 1-5% IPC improvement, Futuremark now ? An enthusiast grade software wants us to follow these nasty anti-consumer propaganda..basically surrender ourselves and pay them for shafting us.

Who knows what's next for us, maybe OSD tools like RTSS, HWInfo infavor of that placebo, kiddo trash "Gamemode" bloatware prepackaged with XBox Live infestation...Have to b very careful from now on..

I don't play any MMOs now.., Plain old PC - FPS lover here, but first they gimp the recoil and now this ? Vote with your wallets..

@Ashtrix Try Driver Store explorer to nuke older drivers permanently.
@Papusan: Is there a hacked no-telemetry version of Nvidia GFE? I removed the telemetry and after that GFE doesn't work.

Okay, My OS is ruined. Thank you Futuremark, Ngreedia, Micro$shaft. The Physics score is ruined beyond repair, it's at 6500 instead of 9500 straight 3000pts loss. here are all my test results, Check the description for the hell, was on this since morning (I lost count how many uninstalls of 3DMark, Benching and Driver uninstall re installs I did). Win8.1 is no longer supported by Futuremark (I think the Futuremark sysinfo or something borked up my OS) & nGreedia.

All are forced to the hell called Win10 :(

P.S - I don't know how that #2 happened, I cannot get the Phy perf back, the wierd thing is Revo Uninstaller it says, It can't run uninstaller of 3DM due to 4.5.x .net framework because of Win7 RTM, says update to SP1 Win7, and I'm running 8.1, perhaps some KMS related crap. So I ran the scanner first, uninstalled using the CCleaner then ran the deletion from revo of the scans, the keys .. Any suggestions like revo uninstaller ?

P.S 2 - I'm done, multiple failures took out my whole day, Uninstalled all the Futuremark garbage deleted all keys from registry with the name "futuremark". I don't even plan to run them on this OS anymore.. Maybe after a re-install of OS or only after Win10. Till then I know how the GPU performs, I'll run Unigine instead to know the performance on OC or non - OC.

I eventually gave up and sold 3 Alienware systems with 780M because of NVIDIA's incompetence. They knew about it because I contacted them repeatedly.

I later came to the conclusion it was either intentional sabotage to boost 980M laptop sales or they just didn't give a rat's ass that their drivers ruined everything.

    From my YouTube channel.

Yikes....would explain why a while back I contemplated wiping my system to "clean it up" so I could gain the lost frames back. I need to pay more attention to this stuff. Thought my system was just getting bogged down over time. Had no idea that nVidia would torpedo their older cards. I remember grumbling about nVidia pretty much ignoring Kepler once they released the new Maxwell cards and all the drivers seemed to cater mostly to them.

If clocks was locked at 450MHz you wouldn't have only 11.5% lower graphics scores. It would be a massacre.

But yeah, Nvidia sucks!! Open up for better performance(not gaming), when AMD push new graphics means Nvidia design the performance around their drivers. Or can kill performance when needed!!!

Even AMD drivers on my sister's lappie seems to give lower performance. It has to be latest WDDM 2.2 on Creators updates that provides newer features with increased level of abstraction and several layered approach causing huge latency & perf. issues.

Bad stuff happens whenever the Redmond Mafia has a say in the matter. Their incompetence bleeds out and Windows 10 corrupts everything it touches, much like a digital STD.
