    Hi SoftReaper,

your Vbios version is only for 740M card, the 640M and 650M are a different "Device ID" (0FD2 for 640M and 0FD1 for the 650M), so if your VGA is not a 740M (but a 640M/650M) this most likely is not the bios for you.

In any case I've modified your VBIOS version for you unlocking the limit of overclocking +405 MHz (instead of +135 MHz)
I have not modified the table of voltage.

The vbios should work without problems, but of course I can not assume responsibility if something goes wrong.

You can download the file here

I hope this can help you.

thanks a lot i'll try this one when I recieved my lapy (in this week)

I'll post a feedback if it works or not (i'll flash it with the main system bios)

I don't worry about crashes, if it doesn't work the intel HD graphics will be there for reflashing the original.

Best Regards and keep up the good work ;)

Happy to know that you know what to do, even in my case the HD4000 saved me many times :)

I'll wait your feedback and good luck for your laptop, it looks like a good buy for that price.

I'll get this bad boy tomorrow, i'm used to "blind flash" my old 8800GTS 320 ,after this, the HD 4000 is a kind of luxury for me ^^

I Got bad news, I can't flash the mod the way I wanted for it (integrated in the system bios) asus software didn't recognize it and easyFlash says that's too old one (same ver number ...)

So, is there any way to flash this vbios, considering that the original is a part of my UEFI system bios?

Of course, unfortunately, these cards are not MXM slot but they are soldered onto the mobo.

So forget the flash via nvflash or atiflash. you have to reassemble the sBIOS with the new vBIOS inside. For the flash you should opt for the method via usb, because easyFlash does not allow the downgrade.
My old asus board allowed this type of flash but I do not know how to behave on this laptop.

Send me your sBIOS and I see what I can do, but I can not promise anything...

Tempted to try OC-ing for the first time in a few years. Tried with my old 285m before but, since that was basically an OC'ed 280m, I didn't get much out of it except for a hotter laptop.

The 680m looks to have much more potential but I was just wondering what I should expect in terms of a performance increase. Will it be possible to get around 15% or more without having to flash a Bios? That scares me a little so am hoping that just using the Nvidia or Msi tools are enough. Had a quick read through the guides here and will try that once I'm back home but was just hoping some kind soul might be able to give me a rough guess-timate for things. I know that every card is different but it'd be nice to know if it's really worth the effort, especially as I have such limited free time these days.

I've tried to build a sBIOS with MMTools and AMIBCP and edit tables to change the build date but easyflash said "are you kidding me?" i thought that doesn't work

there is the link to the original sBIOS:
    http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/K56CB/K56CBAS205.zip

i've tried numerous toolkits for flashing asus's bios from Dos, but my ME Firmware is Read/Write protected so unable to flash.

Hope you can help me, yesterday i've saw that the original vbios doesn't have limit for memory tuning except the memory itself (max overclock +75MHz and not realy stable)

I think you should try the flash with Winflash. Your bios has been recognized as an EFI / Insyde (can you confirm your is an Insyde bios?), then you can probably use also the flash program provided by Insyde (InsideFlash.exe)

It would be a good idea to see if these methods work using a version of the original bios before using a modified version...

Well, I reassembled your bios with a new VBIOS module modified that should unlock the maximum overclock on the core, typically +405 mhz:

You can download the file here.

Please be very careful with this step, if something were to go wrong I do not know if Asus implements a recovery system for the bad flash to unbrick the device (I think it exists in my Acer but luckily I have never used).

Please understand me, I do not want to be responsible if something bad were to happen to your new laptop!

    1) It's an aptio Bios (American Megatrends (AMI) ) so not Insyde but EFI yeah

    2) i've got an AFUWIN which lay somewhere in my hard drive i'll thy this one

    3) don't be afraid, i understand that there is no waranty considering that you havn't got the hardware at home. I know what i'm doing so i assume all that i do, i'll look your bios and verify checksums and other things, if i'm not sure, i don't flash.

Thank, i'm going to take a look at your bios

Good call, finally got time to try it again and yes, the overclock with Nvidia Drivers 327.23 works now with my GT650M but with MSI Afterburner 3.00 Beta 15. The last official release 2.31 would not keep the overclock

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook AH532 with a GT 640M LE in it. I've been using the nvidia inspector software to overclock the chip to 705mhz (500+70 boost + 135 inspector). Could anyone help me to achieve 850-900mhz with a bios mod? Greets!

Hey, so does anyone know how to manually control the fan speeds on a Clevo p170em? I OC'd my card and got a huge 15-20% performance boost for not much overhead but the temps are more than I'd like and the fan is still waaaaaaay too quiet.

I used MSi afterburner for the OC but the fan control is greyed out there.

Don't think it's possible. Best bet of lowering temps is getting a quality cooling pad (aluminium), it lowers the temps for 10C on average.

Well that's annoying. The fans can clearly boost up further but they don't.

You mean like a base to put the laptop on? Aren't those things kinda bulky/ugly? Guess they have their uses though.

Yep. Some are bulky and made of plastic which is total crap, but some actually look amazing and cool well. I'm using an Akasa AK-NBC-01B, works very well. There are other companies and models obviously, depends on your budget. But I would strongly advise buying one, one that's made of aluminium.
One of the worst things for a laptop (one that's used for gaming or video editing.. basically anything causing it to run full load), is to let it sit on a wooden surface, which retains heat. Seriously, if you have some spare cash, buy a decent cooling pad and thank me later :)

Wow, I have the exact same laptop and I can't reach those speeds. May I know what are your temps? I run at 988/1075 and my peak temps reach 90+ even after I replaced the thermal paste. I find that the laptop's fans are hardly at maximum speed -- I've been trying to find someway to manually control them, but no luck so far :(. How are you getting those speeds without completely killing your laptop?!

I was wondering if someone could help me with pushing my GPU a little further.

I have a laptop with a 620M. It only has a 64-bit interface so I decided to overclock the RAM which worked without any issue.
Then I noticed for some reason the GPU won't turbo for some reason. I applied better thermal paste inside the system and it dropped temps about 10 degrees over the crappy silicon stuff Samsung originally had inside. It didn't get the system to turbo though.

So I was wanting to overclock my GPU, thinking I could probably at least hit the turbo frequency. Then I realized that it doesn't allow overclocking. I was wondering if someone could help me modify the driver/bios or whatever needs done to boost the card to its needed speed.

That's not true. Boost doesn't depend on the Asic, it's just down to the driver / firmware configuration. The 620m has in fact boost, e.g. the ones in the Acer V3 series has a default clock of 625MHz and a max boost clock of 713MHz.

I finally figured out how to overclock my GT 650m on my DV6t with great results. I was able to go the full 135mhz increase for the gpu core which has me at 969mhz and a 1135mhz increase with the GGDR5 memory for a finally clock of 3135mhz. With really good air flow around my laptop the GPU runs mid to high 70c. Benchmarks shows about a 17% improved scores vs stock clocks. It doesn't make this card outstanding but does let me bump the settings up a little while still getting the same FPS I was with stock settings running @ 1920x1080

its been a while since i messed with OC, so its hard for me to get back. I dont know how to figuere out the batch files anymore LOL  (can anyone help a little hahaha) Really weird how much knowledge can get lost in half a year..

Looking here i have a few questions. Why was my max for my 650m at 1160MHz? My screen would go black if i pushed it any further, temps were still good at 50-60C. Why are there people here that can do like 1200 and past that, i really envy them.... I think my card was running short on volts, but why can people here go much further, does it differ from manufactorer at what volts they deliver the card?

I also see a slight difference clock for clock on the same type of cards, why is this?

sorry for the noob question, its been a while since i did this..

edit: where is the good old 306.97 driver? it seems like the current driver wont let me go past 970 MHz

that is one really strange video. He says in the description that he gets 30 fps without the OC and 60-80 with the OC. How can a like from 835 to 1125 (30-40% OC) make a 100% + gain in FPS?

Thank you. Just thank you. This thread has been amazingly helpful into fixing some problems I had with my 650m.

Anyway, I have a weird problem. When I force a pstate it works perfectly but the thing is GPU-Z tells me my memory clock is 1200 instead of 2400(-setGpuClock:0,2,795 -setMemoryClock:0,1,2400 -forcepstate:0,2). The weird thing is that in nvidia inspector it shows that the memory clock is 2400. I am not sure which one I should trust.

    Hey.

Trying to overclock my 650m ddr3 2gb @ Asus n56vz, but having issues.

Firstly, im on latest driver 331.82 whql, and latest inspector 1.9.7.2. Default clocks are 835/900

Bascially, i only have P0 and P8 to choose from in in the drop down in inspector.

I can't overclock the core on p0, i set it, but it always stays at default clock speed, 835mhz. Memory works though.

I tried using other programs, same thing core won't budge above stock, but memory oc's ok.

    Could you help me?

Indicating step by step what to do to resolve the core overclock.

331 branch drivers before version 332.21 have boost issue with 650M. Install the latest one or older ones and you'll be fine.

Trying to OC my 2GB MSI (1462) 680m but can only OC the memory (2500 MHz) unless I OC core first then reinstall the NVIDIA drivers (332.21) whilst it is overclocked.

The strange thing is that once I reboot my core is locked again to 758 (default clock shows 771 but monitoring shows 758).

I do not really want to flash a custom vBios, partly because I'm not sure which one will be ok with my card.

Not sure if I am missing something obvious, like custom unlocked drivers!

    GPU: Nvidia GT 650M.
    Driver Version: 332.21
    Operating System: Windows 7 x64.
    Notebook: Clevo W150ERM.

I've followed Mobius 1's Kepler overclocking guide and I've managed to make my GPU stay at circa 850/1000 Core/Memory all the time while playing a game. But the weird thing is that I've actually set my Core/Memory to 1120/1500. Does anyone have a fix for this?

    Edit #1:
Here's how my Nvidia Inspector, GPU-Z and overclock.bat looks like. Any idea why my Core/Memory won't go higher than 850/1000 respectively?

    [IMG] [IMG]
    Code:
    nvidiaInspector.exe -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,135 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,500 -setVoltageOffset:0,0,0 -setGpuClock:0,2,1120 -setMemoryClock:0,2,3000 -forcepstate:0,0

This is my first post, so I want to start with a big thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.

I have a Vaio SVS15 with 640M LE 1MB and could not get it to overclock. I thought I had tried everything (different drivers, upgrading to Win8, back to Win7, update official BIOS etc.) but nothing worked. Finally I realized that I needed to do a clean install of the nVidia driver, which is even stated on the first page of the thread! For anyone having the same issue, make sure you use the custom install option when installing the driver and check the 'clean install' box.

I can now OC at a stable 900/1000.

    hello everyone.

    I got Asus n56vz with GT 650M 2GB DD3 onboard.
I was wondering if you guys could share your stable OC setting for this card.
I tried some settings posted here

    nvidiaInspector.exe -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,135 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,200 -setGpuClock:0,0,950 -setMemoryClock:0,0,1050 -forcepstate:0,8

    but it just doesn't fly.

    cheers

    Hey,
    I'v got a ASUS N76VZ Notebook with Intel i7 3610QM and GT 650M (2GB DDR3).
Im on 900 MHz Core and 1000 MHz Memory now. The default is 835/900.
My CPU is running @ 2,7 GHz (normal 2,3 GHz and 3,3 Turbo)
Temerpatures are fine - 70°C GPU max and CPU 80°C max (got a cooler too)

Im asking my self, whats the best p-state and is there a way to get more power than 900/1000?

Is there any programm that i can use to force my cooler?

And does anyone got a unlocked bios for that model?

I need a programm to force my notebook cooler rpm!
Speedfan and Afterburner doesnt work. I only can force my cooler to 100% by editing
    Rewrite -> Embedded Controller -> 00 / 90 from 00 to 01.

But i want to run the fan at 50%, 75% and so on... So which programm can i use?

And is there a unlocked bios for my notebook and graphics card?

    /edit

Can someone please tell me what PState i need to use?
    If i use this:

    nvidiaInspector.exe -setBaseClockOffset:0,0,0 -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,135 -setGpuClock:0,0,835 -setMemoryClock:0,0,1035 -forcepstate:0,8
Sometimes the core OC keeps the game and driver crashing in p8

    nvidiaInspector.exe -setMemoryClockOffset:0,0,100 -setGpuClock:0,1,900 -setMemoryClock:0,1,1000 -forcepstate:0,0
At this i cant go above 900MHz core speed? Lol with afterburner i can do to 970, how to get more?

Waht im doing wrong and what does this mean 0,0,100... What are the first two numbers for?

    Hello everyone!

I'm having trouble with OCing my 740M (set in Asus K56CB). OC of memory is running perfectly fine, and I'm pretty happy to see boost which it gave, but I can't OC core at any way. Although it changes it value to higher clocks it actually is locked on 810 MHz and it won't go any higher, even clock is set on 815 MHz for example. I know that vBios is a part of sBios so I don't want to flash it. Do you have any thoughts about this? Thanks!
