no source, rather most likely internal testing, since CEG is in frequent contact with the clevo service center in germany ;) theyre basically their sales branch and route all their warranty work through the service center. so it wouldnt surprise me if they had first-hand test results

a more interesting info for me personally would be, if the ZM machines are also compatible with the new nvidia gpu @ceg? ;)

but then again....even if not, theres always prema

It gets up to 45C sometimes. It's very uncomfortable. I don't go outside till an hour or 2 before dark. Then i'm stuck with gnats and mosquitoes. I'm only living here until i get a job. I'm unemployed right now and living with my mom. I Chose a bad major in College/University and haven't been able to find a job after graduating. I'd love to move away. I hate the heat. Especially for sports. and I don't have firestrike. Doesnt it cost money or is there a demo for it like 3d mark 11 p?

@NuclearLizard , performance is not an issue for me, it's the gameplay mechanics and replayability that matters most. Other than that, thanks a lot. MGSV is being hyped a lot so I guess mad max will just have to wait till the holiday or Halloween sales :)

@J.Dre , will have to wait till mid September or early October for official leaks.

    @PC GAMER,

We saw "official" hardware ID leaks before September for the 970M and 980M... Actually, I think it was in like July or something.

By this time last year, we were seeing 3DMark benchmarks.

As discussed, it's too late now for the back to school and xmas season. As a company you want to sell out the "old" hard to move stuff during xmas - and release the new hotness the first of the year.

Announce in Jan/Feb, shipping in March/April, just in time for tax refunds :)

dang. i really want this 990m.... i'm hoping to get a new laptop this month and i really really dont feel like paying full price still for a 980m after it being a year old. nvidia screwed me over with the 880m. not gonna let that happen again. i'd rather get a desktop set up, but i don't have a monitor or keyboard or any cables. zip. nothing. the cost would come out more than a new laptop.

any idea when the skylake desktop laptops will officially be announced? or nvidias next event?

NVIDIA's hands are quite full at the moment:
http://www.game-debate.com/news/?ne...o Not Support DirectX 12 Asynchronous Compute
If a single 290x is trading blows with a 980ti, I just can't fathom what the difference will be if a fury x is used instead. And to think I was gullible enough to believe that maxwell were the only gpus to fully use DX12. Turns out NVIDIA was just polishing and making the most out of dx11 while still adding the base features that dx12 offers.

@Phase , gotta save up big time for dem puppies though :) no but really, if they do end up being 1600USD each, Am out :(.

Quick question guys, what temps would you consider "safe" for intense gaming sessions. I normally get around 77-79 on my first gpu while my second gpu gets to about 82-85. Both gpus stay at 80 degrees most of the time. I usually use evga precision to control my temps and lock them to 75, is it good? I can use v sync too and lock my fps to 60. What temps do you all normally run at?

Hardly anyone has 880Ms but your temps are fine. 82-85 under 100% load with max fans and no vsync is what I used to get with mine before the temps started to just rise for no reason. Both pairs.

All three run cooler than the 880M. 780M is generally 10C cooler than the 880M at the same clock when both are pushed to 100% and 970M and 980M SLI are in an entirely different league (unless you have my fussy Sager that started with a max of 78C with fans on low and went to 87C and throttling out of nowhere).

rule of thumb: anything below 90C for longer periods of time and anything below 96C for short periods of time :)

no worries buddy, i bet they just copy pasted the I/O specs from the ZM :p also, i dont think theres gonna be 16GB so dimms right at the start, probably gotta wait a bit for those to pop up...

Hey BTW was wondering, how many of you are using windows 10 at the moment. @Mr. Fox and a bunch of other people have reported a burnt LCD from upgrading to windows 10 and having the latest NVIDIA drivers. The issue seems to affect Alienware machines only though 2 CLevo systems have been reported as well.

I'm avoiding it until 10.1 is released. Windows 8 was horrible, 8.1 was "okay." Windows 10 is the same so far... I'm hoping 10.1 is "okay."

Was working fine for me. I have used it since it was a preview. Is the burn out from the drivers? Unfortunately I had to file an RMA on my machine a few days after 10 went RTM (key flew off my keyboard) so I may not have had that driver version.

I hope 10.1 comes fast. I was doing just fine with windows 10, no problem with LCD nor Driver issues except when running firestrike. It gave me the "driver stopped responding and has recovered" ******** over and over again. The sheer amount of affected Alienware machines made me turn back to windows 8.1 though. As @Mr. Fox , it's a game of "Alien-roulette".

Avoid the 355.x with it. It was when I went to 355.63 (I believe) that the blank bios screen started, etc. The June driver was fine!!! I've used win 10 since tech preview. It is only after rtm and subsequent updates that it started screwing up things (AW was at rtm, 355.63 effected us more).

Oh man, I am sorry :(. Actually, we have yet to know what causes the issue. We just know it happened when using windows 10 along with the latest NVIDIA driver. Many people are speculating that windows 10 overwrites your sBIOS with a line of code that shouldn't be there. Windows 10 was okay for me, temps were magnificent, performance was incredibly good, the OS itself had a much better UI than that of windows 8.1. To be fair, I didn't actually want to go back to windows 8.1. @Mr. Fox however brought up a good point, AMD users are not getting the same issue as us, NVIDIA users, which then leaves us with NVIDIA drivers as the culprit.
Been using windows 10 as of build 10130 then moved onto the official build.

Don't know if i should update my drivers though, MGSV is right here and I am forced to run it with a single non-optimized GPU, are you kidding me :(

What a mess... I did some searching online and it appears that Windows 10 alters the system UEFI settings. And from reading the thread in the Alienware forum, it is corrupting EDIDs as well... I wonder if anyone running it in legacy boot has had the issue. UEFI is designed to be able to be modified by the operating system but legacy BIOS via CSM should be safe as BIOS doesn't open itself up to such a glaring security flaw. I don't know if that would count for the EDIDs or not but I would imagine that it would because when I was working with Hackintosh, we used to use EFI to pass strings to enable ports and features that we could not do with BIOS.

I don't know, I have been using UEFI boot since I first got my laptop. I still think it's a random bug as I should have had my display blown since a long time now. I am too afraid to go back to windows 10 though. How's the latest NVIDIA drivers with win8.1, still getting weird issues or is it okay?
