Nvidia also make their desktop drivers, surprisingly. :x
It's beginning to sound like your Windows install is screwy, I have no issues running Ntune on Vista64.

The Mobile drivers are still BETA and they are the FIRST Mobile drivers from Nvidia. Lets hope that the next few releases will be pure made for mobile GPU's.
I can guess that these Beta drivers are a mix between New mobile and Desktop Drivers.
This is just the begging. -
so any one notice any difference after installing the beta version ??
and is this moded version better than the orginial from nividia ?
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista/179.28 -
Most of the time, differences between drivers are placebo effect. I haven't noticed any performance difference between these and the 176.44 drivers I was using before. Computer functions normally, sleep works fine. I notice that Oblivion crashes to desktop less when fast travelling, so that's good.
I find it odd that Laptopvideo2go's version is 84mb while the version available on Nvidia's site is 120+ mb. I went ahead and downloaded the Nvidia one as a precaution, and like I said, works fine. -
Second, the driver version from laptopvideo2go.com is the same as the nvidia driver. The only difference and the reason why the one from ltv2go is smaller is because they use a more effective zip (7zip) to compress the driver.
Third, there are certain laptops 179.28 does not support hence why ltv2go provides the modded inf. For those laptops specifically, if your laptop is supported then theres no need to download the modded inf.
Hope that clears up some misconceptions. -
I was under the impression that the files on lpv2go were smaller because they cut out things like the PhysX installer? Nvidia included that, as well as CUDA into their most current driver, and I don't remember either of those in any lpv2go release.

so the nvidia drivers is as same as lpv2go !!!??
-
heres the reason why our files are smaller:
nvidia files are compressed like this:
all files are nv_disp. dl_
Pieter expands them so they are nv_disp. dll
Now when he compresses them in 7zip, it can be compressed at a much higher ratio than compressing them in .d_ etc.
You can't just rename nv_disp.dl_ to nv_disp.dll, you have to "expand" it by command line so windows recognises it as .dll etc -

And just to add why .d_ doesnt compress as well as .dll etc
.d_ is already compressed expanding them to .dll uncompresses them.
Then when you compress them using 7zip its much more higher compression.
since .d_ is already compressed compressing it again doesnt allow better compression compared to compressing of a "raw" uncompressed file.
If you compress a file then try to compress it again nothing is compressed - makes sense.
And thats the reason you can't re-name .d_ to .dll since its compressed and magically re-naming it to .dll won't uncompress it. -
i prefer the laptopvideo2go becouse the nvidia drivers does NOT support my GPU
i dont understand what are thinking these guys from nvidia!
-
now that somone brought up phsx...it doesnt show up on my CP, but it does with other drivers..is it that nvidia didnt include phsx with this driver?
btw, i got these from nvidia.com but am patiently waitng on dox to put his midas touch on'em =) -

In addition, some drivers (notably 180.84) are released to improve performance in specific games and others (like Dox's excellent drivers) aim to improve the visual quality and feel at the cost of max fps that generic quantitative benchmarks just don't capture and may even dock points for. If not for the sleep issues in 180.xx drivers, I would still be using Dox's drivers for their eye candy.
Hope that clears up some other misconceptions. -
although you are partially right, the performance boost is not superv or anything.. sometimes it is, depends on the driver and hardware combo of the user. Plus some drivers might not increase overall peak FPS but they will raise average FPS and have much higher min FPS which makes a huge difference for some people.
-
This drivers are still beta...maybe the final will work on larger "audience".
-
although i can acces the phsx cp through my start menu, i havent downloaded any demos yet.. -
-
no..i just have issues with the nvidia monitor..for some reason my mouse clicker doesnt go excatly over the options lol..i have to guess like 2 inches away from everry thing i want to click lol...its weird.

On my side it now alows me to overclock (i'm at 675/1425/465)! I had to use 169.04 in the past. Here's the changes:
before: stock 3511, OCed 4378
Now: stock 3682, OCed 4518 -
I've been using the drivers for about 2 weeks now, don't have 3dmark 2006 on this image and have been too lazy to install it but I have FRAPS and have seen somewhat higher frame rates in some games.
