Wait for Chase to upload the spec sheet he said he was going to get today.

I hope he will upload it

Have it in my hand...
Having to install my drivers for my printer because apparently I can do a wireless scan unless I allow HP's digital imaging monitor to start with my computer. And when you set it not to start up with vista, apparently there is no turning back...
Damn hp's... -

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
Thank you Chase! I've literaly been refreshing all day for this!
Edit: Looks like you had those specs right!
August 14th can't come fast enough now. What else can I do but endlessly google this thing!? -
Thanx!!
Me thinks we have typos!
"17" Widescreen WXGA TFT (1900x1200, Non-Glare)"
WXGA = 1280x800
WXGA+ = 1440x900
WSXGA+ = 1680x1050 (my fav)
WUXGA = 1920x1200
I wonder which it is?
Opinions? -
So I just want to clarify this. The list of changed components (coming from the P-6860FX) is as follows.
Old Model -To- New Model
Price: $1,350 -To- $1,450
Processor: 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 -To- 2.36 GHz Intel C2D p8400
Memory: 4GB, 667MHz DDR2 -To- 4GB Dual Channel 800 Mhz DDR3
Hard drive: 320GB 5,400rpm -To- 200GB 7,200 RPM
Chipset: Intel GM965 -To- Montevina
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS -To- NVIDIA GeForce 9800m GTS
Scren Res: 1,440x900 -To- 1900x1200
So. better RAM, Better GPU, Better CPU, Better Screen Resolution, and a Lower Capacity HD?
How long do you guys expect the battery to last in comparison? -
there has to be something illegal about this
-
you sure its just a 100 dollar price difference? those are heck of upgrades for just another 100 bucks. and expect it to go on sale a lot, if its gunna be handled anything like the 6860
-
This laptop's niche is supposed to be the best value gaming laptop, not an expensive gaming laptop. It would make no sense to see this laptop be over $1500.
Slight cons:
Smaller HD
Did not update webcam to 2.0MP
Only 3 USB Ports... 4 would have been better
Apart from that, I will definitely buy this laptop in September unless some other company slashed prices and offered a better solution. -
im not sure if it would still be called a budget gaming laptop since its over 1400 now.bah.........
-
i think that wifi card is less powerful than the one we have in the 68xx.

$100 won't break the person's back if they realistically considered buying a gaming laptop... You can't find another laptop that offers a 1920x1200 and a 9800m GTS for under $1500.
-
Kamin_Majere =][= Ordo Hereticus
well that settles it... I'll offically be laptopless until i get back home late august, instead of my wife picking up a new 6860 for me.
I wonder if we're actually going to get a 5.9 WEI machine out of this deal (yeah i know its a crap standard...but it looks so nice on the screen)
I think i'm in love with gateway and bestbuy. For two companies i used to hate so much they have really made me a believer. -
it doesnt matter if its 1400 or 1500. BB will put it on sale for about ~1300 maybe even less often, watch.
-
wait for 5 years so that you can grab one for $30
-
I registered for this forum JUST to see that spec sheet. I have been obssessed with the 6860 for a month now. but then I see this thing...OMG!!! Employee refferal bonus CAN NOT come soon enough for this! I get it the 15th LOL this laptop looks AMAZING
anyway I will have a new forum to troll around now at work! -
No bluetooth?! I don't spect the fingerprint anyway =P , but i thogh it must have a wifi Link 5300, not a great upgrade, but lets see it
-
Wait a minute? There's no bluetooth or fingerprint reader?
-
yeah I don't think so
-
:O That's a huge disappointment...
-
you should be able to put bluetooth in it I would think. fingerprint reader...probably not
-
Webcam, Mic, Fingerprint Reader and Bluetooth should be standard like the 6860...
-
Wrong. The Best Buy models never had a Fingerprint Reader. Bluetooth should be inside though, unless they're taking a leaf out of the 172S FX book.
-
Oops, my mistake. Hopefully, bluetooth is included since I always use to sync it up with my phone.
-
It should be. Seriously, guys, don't worry too much. For that price, I'm sure none of you would mind shelling out $25 or less for a bluetooth dongle. I doubt that will be necessary though.
-
thats what I was going to say,
bluetooth is a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of it! -
Hehe, we college students want to squeeze every bit of performance out of every penny we spend.
-
nice specs on new gateway. But nothing cant beat my $580 6831fx =D
-
How in the world did you get it at that price?!
-
Bluetooth to me has been pointless... The fingerprint reader should be standard though on anything over 800.
-
True on this end, but then again, you can get the new asus m50 for 1249.
-
The Freedom Moose Notebook Enthusiast
How certain are you of its August 14th release date? When gateway sold out of 173X FXs and wrote "New product coming soon" on the product page a few days ago I called customer service about what that meant and they redirected me to sales. I was told the 6860s/ 173X FXs were too new to be replaced and the sales rep sounded almost offended that I thought their product needed replacing.
-
But does it have a 9800m GTS?
-
First of all, I did read it in a news release from our corporate office that we will begin shipping out the new model 8/14. Im positive thats not a false statement considering that we are'nt recieving anymore 6860's. Once stores are sold out of them, that is it.
-
9700gt, but its cheaper if money is an issue.
-
+1 rep for the scan of that document!
-
The Freedom Moose Notebook Enthusiast
It's probably because the new notebook's a best buy exclusive or maybe the gateway rep was just trying to make a sale... Either way sales reps aren't always the most reputable sources so I'll take your word over theirs
-
Chase, Is it possible to hold one of these at launch? That way I get one right when they come in? not sure on BB's policy
-
Looking at the front page of nbr, sounds like gateway is ceasing all phone and online sales. It says that this is going into effect over the weekend.
Interesting?
-
Your best bet is to contact your local store. It is actually allready in the system for the price of 1450, so you might be able to pay for it now and get it later.
-
well the gateway we are talking about here is a best buy exclusive
-
I want it on SAAAAAAAAAALE in September!
-
I'm sold. Going to return the 6860 I have on the way. It'll probably come Monday morning and I'll be returning it Monday afternoon/evening. Can not wait for August 14 to come. +1 rep for you Chase
-
Even tho i knew the specs, i registered 2 see em from original BB sheet. Noticed one thing, "9800m gts 512MB". It actually has 1GB according to notebookcheck and in 3dmark06 test it beats 8800m gts by ~2000 which is A LOT. I been thinking about 6860 since May, but now i am definitely going to get P-7811FX from bb (2 within 4.5 mile radius).
Read this whole thread, seems like everyone is hyped up about it. I am 2...
Also i hope P-7811FX going to have second hdd bay, but if not... oh well i just got 1TB external hdd lol.
6860 Replacement due within 3-4 weeks
