    Hi everyone
I just got my 7805u today and I am very happy with it. I just need to ask a question about the recovery process. The machine factory default is full of bloatware and most drivers that come with the recovery are outdated. I used to have an Asus G50Vt-X1 and I used to do the recovery by using only the first DVD of the recovery DVDs (It was a 2 DVD set) in order to avoid the bloatware and install naked Vista without any software and drivers. Then I used to install every driver and software one by one as I like.
My question : Is there a way to use the recovery media of P-7805u and install only Vista without any drivers or software ?

Well, when I ran the Create Recovery Disks option I got three DVDs:

Factory Recovery Disk #1 and #2

    and

    Driver & Application Disk #1.

Would seem that one could only install the "Factory Disks" and then install more current Drivers (which I'm sure most of us would do).

You obviously would need to have the current drivers on a DVD/CD ready to install, too.

On the other hand, there was very little "bloatware" on my new 7805u and I was able to uninstall and remove what was there easily.

    Either way - enjoy.

I cant even get my Gateway Recovery Management to work!! I have memorex 4.6Gb DVD/RW's (brand new) and everytime I ask to burn it thinks for a minute (acting like it is setting up the burn) then spits out the disc and tells me to use a blank disc..?? Ive tried all 6 of the blank discs...no dice ; (

Some DVD drives don't like certain discs. I have had issues with Memorex and Gateway before

Thanks a lot for the answers guys. So basically I have an option of not installing the drivers. But, is there a way of not installing the additional software and installing just plain vista ? That is the problem with those recovery DVDs. I want to install Vista only I don't want the other stuff. They are nothing but registry trash for me.

Just don't install the "Applications" part of the Driver and App Disk.
