I was thinking of opening a new 7811FX thread about what color thumb drive I should buy. What do you think?
-
I think that's a GREAT idea. Or how about creating one asking who the exact manufacturer of the speakers are and the precise impedance and power handling capabilities of said speaker. This is must-have information.
-
You know that tape securing the wires to the bottom of the LCD? Who manufactures that ... and where can I find a replacement?
Wow, we have three threads right there. -
now now the only way to get a mod attention here is to speak about naked woman, how about we get dook to really mod our sub forum ?
-
LOL. I'm down. Let's do it!
-
btw passed the 700 post how do i search threads ?
-
Congrats! You gotta PM a mod to put you in the senior users group. The job they had that automatically dumped you into the senior group isn't working. You'll then be a different shade of blue, have search the thread ability and be able to change your title. How exciting is that?
-
can i pm you ?
-
Sure, Ill use my magical mod powers.
People would poop bricks if they made me a mod.
I'd do it tho.

HEY RYO how much improvement is it after you get T8300 over stock T5550?
-
here's some benchmarks i did a couple of days ago
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=291940&page=1
but if you are asking for a 3dmark score, sorry i couldn't get it to work, it said i was missing some files or something -
Does your or everyone else's 6860 LCD screen look like it has too much backlight when you find the right viewing angle, especiall from bottom to middle of the screen. How does it look on a black image ? I'm not talking abut light bleed in various corners, mine looks too bright in dark scenes and I keep having to move up & down to get a good angle, too low and top looks distorted/faded gamma, too high & screen becomes too bright from bottom to a little past the middle... It is just me or all the p 6860's look like this? (full screen light bleed LOL) Its fine if you have bright images on screen. But if its a dark pattern etc, the head bobbing begins...
I'd like to hear from others with this screen how they feel about the backlight brightnesss....
thanks -
i eventually got use to it after like a week. but you can try to adjust the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel
-
A fully tricked out 6831/6860 is beat by a stock 7811. Very simple.
I can get 8600-8800 3dmark06 points on my upgraded 6831. -
By fully tricked out, do you mean upgraded CPU and OCd GPU?
You better not - because Im getting 9700 with my OCd GPU and T8300.
That´beats the stock 7811. -

I'm gonna have to call you on that one.
As Johnksss showed a well tuned 6860 can break 10K easily and with enough tuning break 11K. -
Yup.
He definitely got served..
-
Can you post your GPU's safe OC' values? What tool are you using to OC the gpu ? Evga's?
-
which system, 7811 or 6860?
-
OC for the 6860...

Each card will be different, but usually its a pretty safe bet that the 8800 can match the 9800's clock speeds.
But you'll have to test your own card to see what your stable with -
Yes I'm aware of that, but I still need a reference setting. I usually use the reference that I know works for others as my max in the initial stability test that I perform. So lets hear it... -
Found this in under 30 seconds using THE SEARCH TOOL...

I actually did give a reference... the 9800m GTS clocks
600/1500/800
Some have gotten higher, but some cant go that high. Its all according to how well you card takes it.
I'd suggest picking numbers lower than that and just work your way up though. Monitoring temps and looking for artifacts, but generally the 9800 clocks are pretty safe
NOTE: those clocks are overclocking a 9800m GTS... not an 8800m GTS so results going that high might be a bit screwy (and i doubt they would be stable) -
I believe I've said this before...
You don't attempt to qualify a Formula One car the very first time you get in one. You start slow, and make incremental improvements until you find the limits of the car. If you go all out on the first lap, you will crash. Same goes for overclocking.
Kamin... Marquis de Sade? -
Hmm.. I prefer to hang on tight, pedal to the metal, and eyes closed! Just make sure there's no innocent bystanders.
There's a ton of good OC'ing guides out there, most tell you basically the same thing. Bump clocks, one at a time..blah blah blah. I usually bump the core 100-150 memory 100-150 and shader 150-225 and give it a dry run. If it fails, then you're too high. If not, then you've saved a lot of time. Now start bumping clocks.. Also, I've found shader and core to produce best results.. but there's a point you reach where the clocks go higher but your results diminish. Gotta find the sweet spot

Yeah, hes some what of a hero of mine... nuts but completely brilliant.
I based the large part of my single life on his way of thinking. My wife is still suffering from my past... lady friends... telling her that I'm the devil and should be killed
Sometimes you have to fly before you can crawl huh?
Notice i disagree with E-Wrecked and recommend a slightly slower approach due to him having a lot of past experience and being a bit more of a bench marker than 99% of your average users -
And I kindly disagree with your disagreeing. If it ain't smokin, it ain't broken! Kidding, really.. OC'ing is a very beneficial tool if used properly.. However, I can not *stress* how important it is to test test test for stability if you settle on your personal gaming clocks. Nothing worse than being in the ice stage of Crysis, or on WoW in an Epic Battle and all of a sudden you get kicked back to vista and the screen says.. "Video driver lost" - DOH! And even worse, you smoke a nice system on accident.. the 2nd is less likely, but both are possibilities with the first being a strong possibility.
Take baby steps, or todler steps..not E-wrecked steps. Mine may have you exchanging the FX series a time or 5 @ BBuy.
Any comparable benchmarks for P7811FX and P6860FX?
