Got mine sept 2008 at BB in McHenry IL. for $1200.

Love it for photoshop. Upgraded to 2 - 320GB 7200 RPM Seagate momentus. Did clean install of Ultimate 64 bit and partitioned both disks with Paragon Partition Manager 9.0. Added a 4GB Lexar Jump Drive Lightning as 4GB Ready Boost. Velcroed to top of battery. Fast..............

Those worried about overheating take note..............

This is a big heavy laptop with a shiny glossy finish. Probably will be too much to carry everywhere so you'll probably use it at home or plugged in. Get a Antec notebook cooler and use it and you'll rarely hear the fans blowing.

PS: Looking for sources on a Intel dual core extreme X9100 processor so I can start pricing them. It's the one upgrade I'm thinking of doing. Anyone know where to find one of these new?

Found X9100's on amazon. Cheapest $800. I'll wait for price to drop.

Meanwhile..................What can I do with the HDMI port? I know about hooking up to a HDMI capable TV set, but does it just output audio? I see HDMI audio appears as an option when you right click the volume icon / properties in the task bar. I have mine set to the external headphone output as default using a speaker system..............

So I can play an audio CD without video and choose to hear it through the HDMI port and use an HDMI cable to hook up to an audio reciever / amplifier that has an HDMI in port?

Is HD sound the advantage here?

On my P-171x fx and my P-6860 fx, I only get stereo through HDMI, maybe the newer models get dolby.
