it has to do with the powermizer setting in the registry. almost got it figured out. give me about 5 minutes.
-
;Powermizer settings
HKR,, PowerMizerDefault, %REG_DWORD%, 3
HKR,, PowerMizerEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 1
HKR,, PowerMizerLevel, %REG_DWORD%, 3
HKR,, PowerMizerLevelAC, %REG_DWORD%, 1
but it should look something like this...
HKR,, PowerMizerEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 0
HKR,, PowerMizerLevel, %REG_DWORD%, 0
HKR,, PowerMizerLevelAC, %REG_DWORD%, 0 -
So what you are saying is that I should install 175.75 and modify the powermizer settings like you said?
And where do I modify those settings? -
still working on this.
what other drivers do you see that you think you can install? -
I can install every driver at laptopvideo2go.com, no prob, just by making the correction in the .inf
BTW, I never installed powermizer, I use nTune and the default nvidia control panel. The driver restricts the power settings in the GPU even if I never install powermizer?
Thank you
-
the powermizer is enabled with the nv_disp.inf and the nvac.inf fil it's not enabled...
so depending on which inf file you used...will determine what got installed -
Well, I uninstal, reboot, driver cleaner pro in safe mode, modify nv_disp.inf, install new drivers via the install method.
-
If so, how do you modify those settings?
-
so you modded the nv_disp.inf for the powermizer settings? that correct?
-
you would do a search in your registry for powermizerlevelac
that will take you to the 3 entries you need. now it can be listed in more than one place in the registry. just change them all. -
-
I had a similar drop in 3DMark after installing the 175.63 drivers, but I saw an increase in the benchmarks for Crysis and Company of Heroes. 5 fps higher in the Crysis GPU benchmark running 32 bit DX9 at 1440x900 with all settings at Medium and a big increase in COH of like 15 fps at 1440x900 with settings at the auto recommended by the game.
-
just from looking at your scores on this... it tells me that your gpu slowed down during the 3rd set of test or you hard drive was running in the background......
if you want to use my modded inf file you can.
im working on getting the powermizer stuff to work right or find someone that has it set up correctly. so hopefully by tomorrow.
this is the one i used for mine. works fine and no frame loss
http://www.say-it-loud.com/nvac.inf
let me know what it does for your frame rate. -
will that work only with the 175.75 ?
care to explain what you doing in there ?
-
basically all the drivers are pretty close to be the same..in each class 175's 174's 169's. people like you and me go in and start messing with things to try and make it better.(smetimes they make them worse..lol) ergo half the version number increase's 175.63/175.70/175.75/175.80
it will work with just about any version. (speculation of course) -
off topic
how do you enable digital vibrance, ntune seem to have taken over my nvidia contorls, cant seem to find it.
got it. -
nvidia control panel/adjust desktop color settings
-
Thats great!
Thank you, I'll try it tomorrow and then post the marks. -
The folder you specified doesnt contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure its designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems.
-
did you download the 64 bit version of the driver?
-
johnkss the inf you uploaded was for x86 not x64
-
ok, which 64 bit version are you using.
and ill do one for 64 bit. -
Yeah, I did.
-
The one you told me, 175.75, x64.
-
Better but not enough:
Default drivers:
175.75 With your modded .inf
Just had to change:
---------------------------------
So with the latest Vista x86 175.70 I assume this line:
Code:
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile,nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
Changes to this:
Code:
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile_nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
----------------------------------
-
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, forgot about that bunk _ score error.
-
I ended up using 175.80 from 3dguru, those only lowered my marks by 150 points or so.
-
I have used drivers from both sites, I like 3dguru's drivers because of how easy they are to install, but since I finally figured out how to install the laptopvideo2go drivers (Thanks to Johnksss) I have been using them. I am currently using the 175.80 vista 64bit on all three of my FX laptops with no problems. I have not ran bench mark programs, I will leave that up to my NBR buddies, it gives me more time to game.
-
Ok, Thanks,
I will try 175.63 since everyone thinks its the best right now. -
yep! and i would be one of his buddies!...lol
willing to tear aprart my shinny new laptop to help someone else.
-
If you are going for the 175.63, then I recommend the mobile drivers from tweakforce.com
Those guys really tweak the drivers hard. -
I sent you a PM johnksss but I thought I would post in here too with a screenshot about the error. Again, I downloaded the vista 64bit driver and modded inf and this is what I get when I try to update. Sorry about the size,I suck at resizing images.
-
when you downloaded the inf file...where did you put it?
-
Inside the folder that extracted onto the desktop. Worked like a charm when I updated to 175.70.
-
cool!
now how is 175.80 for you on battery battery power? -
Sorry maybe you missread, but I meant that I attempted to update my drivers exactly the same way I did when I updated them to 175.70. But it doesn't work, gives me the "doesn't support windows vista error".
-
meaning which drivers you are using...lol
it should say 175.70 and not 175.80
. sorry about that.
in other news...
all the 175 drivers are exactly the same...the only difference is the inf files and what files and settings they load. i know this because i did a folder and file compare on all these 175 drivers.
edit: under their prospective versions of windows. -
I haven't tried it on battery yet.
And thanks for all your help. -
this is why it doesn't work.
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile,nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
it should look like this
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile_nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
this is in the inf file you downloaded and it's not correct.
once you change the , to an _ it will work.
no problem kurgen, just glad to help -
well...time for me to test out these so called 177 drivers they just released...see if they are any better....
-
Ah crap, I forgot to modify that , to a _ like I did with the other drivers, heh. Well they are installed and properly showing up as 175.80 now yay. Give back info on those 177 drivers once you get around to testing them.
-
cool!
im testing them drivers as we speak!
lol -
Well......................... hurry up then..........................
-
doesn't look good for the home team...crysis is locking up...lol
still testing.....
edit: forgot i had it over clocked. seems to run fine. -
So Johnksss....what drivers are you running then? I am still not sold on any other download site, other than 3dguru.com....but then again I am open to suggestions.
-
175.75 for the time being.
-
Thanks..Crysis is smooth as silk? LOL
-
is that dx9 or dx10
-
Either...I am downloading 175.75 right now. I ran Crysis on DX9...not much of a difference to me vice DX 10. Let you know in a bit.
