Anyone tried those 177 drivers?
-
-
still 177.35
john what about those bsods any change`?
any conclusive evidence whether its the new driver or that new nvidia gpu panel ? -
i haven't had a bsod yet. every so often the control panel will hang if another program is taking long to close. but if that program closes first, then the panel recovers with out incident
-
I've re-installed nTune and it still causes a BSOD when I go into System Information or NVMonitor under the Performance section.
-
u using 177.41, the new nvidia control panel and ntune ?
-
Yep that's right.
-
then maybe it's not so ready for 64 bit. im using 32 bit vista. -
sorry i am away from fx so i will ask, is ntune still necessary with o/c builtin the new gpu panel ? does it crash even if you dont o/c ?
-
No I can go into the 'Adjust GPU Settings' screen and overclock fine. As John says I think it might just be a bit buggy on x64.
-
you dont get the over clocking panel. it comes when you install the NVIDIA System Tools -
thanks for the effort

Soo... Is anyone using the inf from laptopvideo2go for the 175.63 vista 64 and get it to work for their 6860fx? I got it to work by using the GTX method, but then I couldnt run 3dmark06 so i decided to revert back to the gateway stock drivers. I am using this driver cause I read these forums long ago (about 3 weeks) and that seemed to be the best one at the time. I tried reading through the forums since then but cant make heads or tails of a good driver to work with.
I am on the plug 99% of the time (100% of the time if I am gaming) so performance on the battery is not an issue. I am considering using the inf from the original drivers (like I heard some1 else is doing) but I am too lazy to try to find them manually. Basically I need an inf for 64 bit vista that I don't have to worry about overheating issues (no OCing on my laptop) -
177.41 runs really well for me - links are in my guide.

This could be why nTune was crashing - nTune has been updated and renamed to NVIDIA System Tools with ESA Support:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.02.html
The NVIDIA System Tools installation package includes:
1. NVIDIA Performance Group (v6.02.08.01) add-on to the NVIDIA Control Panel
* nForce MCPs
– Enables system tuning and profiles for clocks, voltages, timings, and fans
– Includes support for Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) components
– Displays detailed system information
* GeForce GPUs
– Enables GPU overclocking
2. NVIDIA System Monitor (v6.02.08.01) standalone application
* nForce MCPs
– Enables system monitoring for clocks, voltages, timings, and fans
– Includes support for Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) components
* GeForce GPUs
– Enables GPU temperature monitoring
3. NVIDIA System Update (v2.00.41.05) add-on to the NVIDIA Control Panel
* Automatically checks for nForce and GeForce driver updates
* Adds ability to update your system bios
* Includes support to update firmware of Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) components
Testing it now.
EDIT: Ok no more BSOD but it seems nVidia have removed some features - no tune system for example. Overclocking screen is better though. -

Nope didn't know this existed - oops!
Now I can see the shader clock slider too - wondered what you were on about -
that's what the link and the thread was about. i thought you clicked on it. -
hey is my nose in the middle of my face or what ?

How are the 177.79 woking?
Any marks yet? -
-
Okay, since there was no answer, is this the proper driver for the 177.79's?
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-ForceWare-177.79-Vista-(64-bit)-download-2014.html -
yep good enough just make sure you download the moded inf of the l2g nvision forum:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=94 -
Thanks. I'll try downloading and installing tonight.

Anyone tried the PhysX drivers for 8800?
-
yep it is working
-
How do you enable physx?
-
install a 177.xx drivers and then the physx pack rfom nvidia named :
PhysX_8.08.01_SystemSoftware -
I'm running 177.83, do I need to worry about Physx? I thought I read somewhere that it comes with some of the drivers in the 177.xx series. -
what is PhysX ?
-
once the physx pack is installed, go to your start menu and look for NVidia Corporation, and then click on the physx properties. from there, you can set it so that the cpu does the physx processing, or the gpu. (better if the gpu does it, seems to be faster)
dont forget to rep. -
