i bought a hava. it is a device to record what is happening on your television right to your computer. i bought it to record my xbox 360 games. the hava comes with component and audio cables which went into my xbox 360. after reading tutorials. you must also put three component cables into your television. this is the problem i ran into. i play xbox 360 on a computer monitor. it is a gateway FHD2402. the monitor only has (1) HDMI, (1) VGA, (1) DVI w/HDCP, (1) PC Audio jacks. so i have been searching online and have found some adapters for DVI to component cables. such as this:
http://www.amazon.com/DVI-I-RCA-Component-...t/dp/B000Q6RL9Q
or
http://www.amazon.com/DVI-3-COMPONENT-HDTV.../ref=pd_sim_e_2
so i was thinking i would buy both of these to try it out. anyone know if itll work for sure?
i have to select the source on my monitor. for instance when im playing xbox i have to select HDMI. or if im using my computer i select VGA. so if i was using DVI and HDMI at the same time (dvi to record with hava.. hdmi to play my xbox) i am just not too sure if ill be in luck. thoughts?

No, that cable will not work if you are trying to connect your xbox to your computer monitor. If you had scrolled down in your first link, you would have seen this:
*****WARNING*****IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CONNECT YOUR COMPONENT VIDEO SOURCES TO A REGULAR COMPUTER MONITOR OR HDTV unless you monitor specifically has this capability. Most do not. (Please check the documentation for your computer monitor). THIS CABLE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CONNECT YOUR COMPUTER'S DVI PORT TO THE COMPONENT INPUT ON YOUR HDTV unless your video card supports component out function through it's DVI port (please confirm with your video cards documentation before purchasing. Some require adapter, not this cable). ***
Your second link does not work (page not found).
Alright, if you are trying to connect your xbox 360 to your computer monitor with DVI port, you need this:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=XBOX+360+VGA&x=0&y=0
Then find out what kind of DVI port you have and buy a VGA to DVI adapter. Better yet I'd just stick with the VGA port on your LCD; the difference between VGA and DVI is minimal.
DVI to component on a computer monitor?
