but forget that dtwn83. i got a problem about voltage? any clues?
-
Voltage? What exactly about voltage?
If it's undervolting, you might be better off in the hardware components forum or the undervolting guide in the same forum.

Gateway was the right choice for me. When you consider what all they included with the gateway, it seems the better deal. And when I am done selecting the components I care about, I came out $1000 cheaper by going with the gateway. Plus, I only had to spend the $1249 initially and can wait for another paycheck to do the upgrades.
gateway base $1249
replace screen (1920x1200) $318
replace cpu $202 (T8100) $319 (T9300)
$1769 (t8100 cpu)
$1886 (t9300 cpu)
eurocom base $1708
upgrade 1920x1200 LCD
upgrade webcam
upgrade 8800GTX
upgrade 4G 667 memory
upgrade 320G HD
upgrade wlan 802.11n
upgrade bluetooth
upgrade OS vista64
$2756 (t8100 cpu)
$2925 (t9300 cpu)
Granted:
the webcam in eurocom is 2.0MP vs 1.3MP
the video card in eurocom is 8800GTX vs 8800GTS (this is the option I pondered on the most)
you probably have less spam/bloatware to strip off the eurocom -
same here...i looked at the 8800m gtx for quite a long time... 15 days to be exact. (before i couldn't take my gateway back)

These are the only model numbers I have seen, anyone else have model numbers for a nice screen for the p6860fx?
Thanks -
Or has anyone tried these lcds? from the first post?
Samsung LTN170WU-L02 17" WUXGA 1920x1200 LCD
Samsung LTN170WU-L03 17" WUXGA 1920x1200 LCD
I just want a confirmation of a good screen.
Thanks -
where do you get a 1680x1050 screen for these gateways??
-
You can get one here
http://www.lcdsuper.com/samsung-ltn170wp-l02-laptop-lcd-screen.html
but I dont' know the quality of the picture and lighting and such. Thats what I am trying to find out. -
IMHO I'll stick with the stock screen. My other laptop has the 1900x1200 and very tiny type. You can set the screen to 120dpi but then all the non vector web graphics suck.
I want max frame rates, running higher rez kills that for most games. I would like a higher quality stock screen with better vertical viewing angles -
hydra, I agree, I have the P-171x fx, and two of the P-6000 fx's and on my P-171x fx it is hard to read some text because of the high res, its nice, but so are the stock P-6000 fx screens.

LCD SCREEN PANEL
* The LCD screen you order may have been replaced by one of equal or greater functionality. This LCD screen is FULLY COMPATIBLE with the LCD screen that was originally ordered.
* If this LCD screen is not the same part number as originally ordered it is because the original is not available or has been replacement by greater models.
* For more information about this replacement parts refer to our Web site or contact to us.
When I looked at the screen, I found the model number B170UW01. I opened up two browser windows with www.froogle.com: One to search my original part number (LTN170WU-L03) and the other to search the replacement (B170UW01). The prices seem to range about the same (about $300 - $500).
Before I go to the effort of opening my laptop and doing this replacement, has anyone here had problems with this B170UW01 screen (company is AU Optronics)? Should I return it? (file a credit card dispute since they didn't send me the original item I ordered) Or are they being honest and this screen truly is equivalent to the Samsung? -
has anyone put in the auo dual lamp screen thats on the asus g2?
would it be compatible?
does a dual lamp lcd come with two lamps itself?
what about an led screen does it come with an led backlight( I see them for sale for 600-700)
im about to pick up a 6831fx -
in related news what is the cheapest place to buy a wuxga screen?
used even is fine -
not sure..some duals are slightly thicker, but if the side screw holes line up, then it will generally fit. (generally speaking of course)
yes, i do beleive so
don't know.
....but your gonna need a dual lamp inverter for that.... i had given it much thought, but found out a cheaper way of brighting up the screen...... it's called.... digital vibrance and it's located in the nvidia control panel. put it at about 74 and your screen will be on par with the ultrabrights -
I tried the screen and it has a bright green stuck pixel on it. Will this go away on its own?
-
LCDSuper.com won't exchange for dead pixels. They have some "policy" that says they can sell you subpar displays with dead pixels on them. They kept referencing Dell in their emails. My guess is that this company gets Dells reject parts and is why they are cheaper.
-
ok thanks
the dual lamp has a nits rating of 500
I dont think the 250 nit lg screen or the 180 nit samsung screen are ever going to be like that. -
never said equal or greater than... just said on par with the ultrabrights. -
I also bought LCD screen from LCDSuper.com. I got a perfect LCD screen without any problem. I also asked them about the anything "hoofhearted" said. I totally believe them. They didn't get the reject parts from DELL because they purchased LCD screen directly from manufacture. I think "hoofhearted" is another LCD screen seller who try to say something bad to their competitor.

This was written by Khris. http://forum.notebookreview.com/archive/index.php/t-205148.html
Therefore, they do have quality standard of lcd screen. Don't be picky.
This ">5" dead pixels before considering replacement is a crock of **** and comes from several years ago when manufacturing was a little more hit and miss.
Sorry, but you're wrong. A quick search reveals that 5 is the reasonable minimim that manufacturers will need to see before a replacement is considered. Samsung (depending on size of monitor) goes up to 17.

I ordered a Samsung screen.
LCDSuper sent me a non-samsung screen without asking me.
LCDSuper included a note saying that this is an equivalent replacement.
I tried thier screen and found 1 dead pixel.
LCDSuper said that that have the right to sell me a screen with 1 dead pixel.
I told them that they sent me the wrong screen anyway from the beginning.
All throughout the email and phone conversations in this "fight" LCDSuper kept referring to Dell (We check with Dell and this is the policy, etc)
LCDSuper's corporate office is in Plano TX. Search google for "parts Dell Plano TX". -
So is hoofhearted the only one who has tried one of these WUXGA screens in this laptop? Even though it wasn't the Samsung he ordered....
There are quite a few of those Samsung screens on Ebay, apparently brand new and guaranteed 0 dead pixels... I'm tempted because there is the Microsoft cashback of 20-25% also.... might be able to get one for under $200 -
I tried to call LCDSuper.com and asked them about dead pixel story. LCDSuper said if that is their problem, they can do a replacement for customer. Therefore, I think the whole story of hoofhe.... said should not believe.
