if you run 1920x1200 8xaa you should also see with dirt2 benchmark 30 min on FPS and about 35-40 average FPS too. This assuming it is not locking up......
-
-
I ran the furmark @ 1920x1200 with 4xx AA for 15 minutes with my mouse and headset plugged in and it didnt freeze.. then i overclocked the gpu and cpu to the specs you provided and it still didnt freeze... it's weird.. im thinking it could possibly be the memory, so imma get a new 8 gb kit when i head to class later on, good thing is, if its not the memory i just have to return it.

-
I havent finished downloading it yet. got 3 minutes to go.. Im on a crappy 5 mbps dsl connection in which im downloading at 600K/s.. lol.. but just about there.
edit; 6mbps** -
Ah, though when you said downloaded you were taking past tense not present tense..............
-
my bad.. i meant downloading**... lol.. fail typo
-
Ok.. it still froze on me.. i clicked enter to begin the actual race and it froze..-.-
-
ok so the menu's and all worked fine along with intro but it froze going to the race? when you say froze as in the screen locked up?
Edit; the headset and or mouse, do you use drivers other than what windows loaded for them? -
when I say froze.. I mean the screen locked.. did not go blank.. i can press the caps key and the light wont even light up. The only thing i can do is hold the power button to shut it down. i just tried to play crysis 2 again and got a blue screen, but i remember you asked me for what last time. Well this time i got it.. "BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER" the game froze seconds before this blue screen popped up. And yes, I use the drivers provided by Razer themselves @ razerzone.com
edit; could this possibly be a power board issue? The mouse and headset were plugged into the power boards two usb's when it did this. -
Edit; goggle it, razer drivers are known to give bsod's with Windows 7. You had a power issue and that is resolved now it is most likely the drivers/hardware compatability.............. -
-
-
but on my old system there was never a problem with any of this.
edit; lol people really hate these razer drivers... nothing but problems.. but i uninstalled the razer drivers and firmwares and rebooted, and still the same problem.. im about to run a memory test -
Edit since there is a bsob blaming the USB driver i most likely is not memory since without the hardware too there is no lockup. You may need to do a full system restore without ever using the razer drivers as those same drivers could have changed something in the reg or loaded something to the USB that is causing an issue. can you use restore points to go back to as you had first installed windows 7? that MIGHT work.......
Edit 2; you need to power down not just reboot. The software may have loaded a setting to the mouse/headset that is still incompatible with the even standard drivers etc. if the mouse or headset have their own power, ie rechargable, you may need to get them powered down or reset too............. -
-
-
what does your system info state?
Edit, even the keyboard can be of issue, I saw a few posts on that as well...........Attached Files:
-
-
i did the windows memory diagnostics and it told me that issues were detected to contact the maker to find out how many and what they were.. but this is my system specs..
Attached Files:

this is what crucials website told me
edit; class time.. im going to stop by the store and get some untainted ram to see if that just might be the case since ive been getting errors with this kit.Attached Files:

crucial fail.. lol.. i just got new ram and crysis 2 was going good for a few minutes, but it went back to normal..... freezing...
-
Yeah, ram is fine, Razer is fail. You should probably do a fresh windows install without any extra drivers and then add the hardware one at a time letting windows install its drivers. test games before adding each piece of hardware back to be sure all is stable. hopefully from there you will have a stable system.
You then can work with razer and thier forums etc and try to get stable drivers from there. always remember to keep a stable restore point before adding the drivers etc.............. -
Alright, I'm going to my cousins house tomorrow for a LAN party, so hopefully he will be able to help me. He's retired from NASA... soooooooooooooo im keeping my fingers crossed, if i cannot figure it out, then he hopefully will have an idea. But i am going to do that fresh install now, ill let you know how it turns out.
-
cool, having the hardware in hand would help for troubleshooting. Personally I've stayed away from Razer because of the well known driver problems.
I much prefer the stable drivers of Intel, Logitech, Microsoft and Plantronics etc. While the hardware may not be as bleeding edge, they usually just work............
Edit; I have all hooked up and 100% stable
1.) NZXT Cryo LX Cooler (Generic Powered Hub Driver (4 USB devices))
2.) Logitech LX8 gaming wireless mouse - Hub
3.) Logitech Extreme Pro 3D joystick - Hub
4.) Plantronics GameCon 7.1 USB Headset (generic USB Headset drivers) - Hub
5.) LG VX 1000 mobile phone (for charging but modem drivers) - Hub
6.) Sony 8GB bloggie (can be used as a spare as permanently only a short USB extension sits in the port)
7.) Spare USB for storage drives, Canon 40D camera or Canon 40GB HDD - HD video camera or other removable devices.
I should note with the Lower left USB port the powered hub kept intermitently disconnecting. with the top USB port it is 100% stable. If I power with the two left USB ports and no AC then it is 100% stable again....................Attached Files:

Well, I just got done with the install and installed all the windows updates, then installed the drivers for the p79. I installed my online game, which is Lost Saga and it still froze on me. unfortunatly. My usb is getting pretty hot so im thinking maybe.... just maybe it is overheating. I know when I was installing the mother board I had alcohal to clean the dust and fans with cotton swabs and I spilled like a drop or two onto the SSD, and some got into the little holes the screws go into, but I let it air dry in front of a fan before I did anything with it. but im thinking....... hoping that just might be what the problem is. I am going to install the game on my 500 gig and go from there.
-
your USB is getting hot?
-
-
it is not the HDD it is hte USB, for whatever reason. when you went to the LAN party did you get to try some other USB hardware? also untill you have this resolved maksure nothing is overclocked at all.
if a standard USB mouse with nothing overclocked locks you up then you may need to contact the board seller for a replacement. If they try and tell you all P79's have USB issues point them my way. As you can see from my list it can be quite stable.
You may want to be sure latest drivers are installed too
for P79xx
For P78xx
For the video I use the new nVidia 270.61 I think they are. Personally I use Intel's latest chipset and IRST drivers for AHCI. For video overclocking I use nVidia system tools. We all know about TS for the CPU. Also be sure no game overclock profiles exist for nVidia System tools. -
Did you ever get to the LAN party and get to try other standard USB devices?
-
Yeah... it froze before i even got the usb's in there. My cousin said its more than likely overheating, and i should try to get more ventilation to it to see if that does the trick.
Edit; Is there like aftermarket fans to put in this thing? Or do they even make after market fans for laptops? -
what are your temps with hardware monitor? There are no fans specifically, I am/have been assuming your fans are running. For regular desktop usage I am now using a NZXT Cryo LX but have not noticed under load any real bennefit...........
Edit, it froze with no OC and no USB devices? -
-
wow...... my computer froze when all i was doing was syncing my ipod to itunes.......!!!!!!
-
what are your temps, are the fans turning on when need be? although synch through USB could have been asn issue too. do you have the intel chipset drivers installed?
Edit; here a guy had a problem with a P7901. they told him to update chipset drives and he never posted the issue again, maybe that is it............. -
I just checked the temp and simply syncing my ipod to my itunes... the cpu was 90C......................................................................................................................................................................................
-
way too hot, at 90c is the fan turning?
-
-
-
at 90c it shoud be turning pretty fast, with the sysem on try blowing short bursts of compressed air, this should loosen and free the fan and you should noticably hear the fan spinning pretty fast...............
Edit; the air flow seems minimal, but if you smoke and hold a cigarette to it, it will glow from the air blowing on it.......... -
im just going to buy two new ones. If this is a problem, then im going to nip it int he bud as is.. new fans = no worries.. I wont have to worry about the fans going out again... but the gpu fan I do hear.. while its under stress... kick on pretty well. the keyboard and well computer itself have been a little hot as of late, so this could very well be the problem.
-
if the cpu heats like that yes, you should hear the cpu fan spinning at least 3/4 or more of the speed of the GPU fan. if it isn't try the air trick if still no then maybe when you put it back together?
Edit also check the TIM, even idle with no fan you shouldn't see over 50c and that is high............. -
TIM??? and the temp for the cpu right now is 46C and all im doing is talking to you right now.. -
the x9100 46c is ok, not great but ok. TIM = Thermal Interface Material, be it AC5, ICD or the paste used. It sounds like a definate CPU fan issue, you can get new but if it worked before it should work now. I've had mine sieze up and the air trick freed it. just make sure the compressed air spins the fan where it starts to whistle. Another way is a tube from a vacume cleaner over the air intake under the CPU, or better yet the vacume cleaner to the fan with the cover removed..........
-
Well i just put the laptop on a box fan and put it on high while i played my game and it still froze on me.. so the heat wasnt the issue............
-
was it still 90c just transfering files and what was the heat durrung gaming?
-
the cpu was around 50 C when it froze with the fan under it. Im starting to think its the mother board, and that i should just put the old one back in.......
-
I google my problem and i see people with the same problem, yet their's only freezes like for 20 seconds or so then it unfreezes... mine stays frozen until i hold the power button down to reboot it.
-
is it freezing without a usb device?
-
just for closure... i took my ssd out and put my old hdd back in and it runs the game like a dream so far...... so it was my ssd...................
-
Strange, are you running the Intel IRST so you get trim etc?
