Ah, that's not an FX, it's the NV5810u Notebook with a 15.6" screen.
It may be showing the direction Gateway is heading with their screens, however. -
okay, it's not the fx, but the link that I grabbed off google search, is from early this year--on a lesser model... Do you really think their newest top-of-their-line fx is going to ship without LED? Please, take my word, the FX7915u is LED backlit.
-
It is not LED. People have the 7915, and no LED.
-
Has anyone had both of these yet?
How does g72 backlit screen compare to the P-7915u FX is one stand out and one average or are they pretty much the same? -
I'm just guessing here, but since the Asus has a higher resolution, it'll probably look a little sharper, but overall, they seem similar.

anybody considering buying this laptop should see this thread. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=440701

Would any owners be willing to run Furmark 1.7 on it (Stability, 1440x900 full screen, Xtreme burning mode, no AA, for 1000sec). Im interested into seeing how good cooling it has compared to asus g51/60.

Just editing a message - I realized how old the post was that I was replying to.
However, the 7915 is my wife's gaming lappy, and has been working very well since November. Can't really complain, and if not for the lure of the G73, I might almost be persuaded to still pick one of these up. Heat is really not an issue, and the sound has been fine. -
QUICK QUESTION?
It might have already came up on the forum but i didn't read through the entire page lists.
With regards to the p-7915u and the 1440x900 res I've been told that you can actually go out and buy the p-7805u 1900x1200 res screen and replace the 1440x900 screen on your p-7915u to get the 1920x1200 res that you want. Is this true?????
The GTX260M should be able to handle above 1920x1200 res it's just the screens that gateway are using on the newer laptops are not as nice (saving on costs) so they can't go above 1440x900 res. am I right?
So just replace the screen with the p-7805u and you should be good to go. The dimesions are exact same. -
Only somebody who has really tried it can assure you. I'd say its possible based on the fact that 7805 has both versions of screen in them. But make sure the inverters are swapped together with the LCD's.
-
Hmmm Not sure but, did I read that the P-7915u FX will max out on ram at 4 GB?? I am drooling just thinking about getting this Lappy... my current P-6860 FX still works great aside from me breaking my shift key... ugh. Will replace the keyboard & probably sell it after I get this P-7915u FX model.
-
Check this out. Thats for 7805. Can't see 7915 any different

P-7915u FX see/ post a pic of the side of their box to see if it has similar info?!
Now the NV7915 says its' Memory is expandable to 8GB http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway...8150610770&skuId=9695393&st=NV7915u&cp=1&lp=1
but the info on the P-7915u FX doesn't mention that it is expandable to 8GB. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway...485627&skuId=9605365&st= P-7915u FX&cp=1&lp=1
Interesting... Has anyone that has bought the P-7915u FX expanded their memory yet?? Thanks, JasonAttached Files:

-
Can someone tell me why the 7915u FX is unavailable EVERYWHERE?
-

-

-
