I'm guessing the seller wants to confuse buyers. The E8435 is an iMac chip, made by intel of course. These iMacs use laptop processors because of the low consumption/temperatures.
I wish these crappy gateways would take quads because then I would just order a Q9200 with an unlocked multiplier for the same price.
-
The E8435 is essentially a locked X9100, it's a 44w 3.06ghz cpu, the T9900 would be better if you can get one just because it's 35w instead of 44.
-
I wonder how well E8435s undervolt, I'll know by next year when it's installed in my 7803
-
I didn't order from online I called in and they said they had stock might want ot try that.
-
I bought a x9100 from ebay for 330$
I hope it doesn't get hot in my g50vt-x5 asus.
If it does I will get t9900.
i hope arctic silver 5 takes care of the heat -
I could be nuts but it says that the item is no longer available.
Any other good affordable places to get a t9900? -

Well this deal is about 4 months old now so thats probably the reason its no longer available.
Best bet is to try eBay or something similar -
I ordered mine from the HP Parts Store. I received it in 24 hours for $374 which included $16 for overnight shipping. Chip is brand new and comes in a kit with thermal paste.

recently or months ago when this thread was originally active?

Looks like the price went up. This deal was still available about a month ago, I was considering it myself. If someone really wants it you could try looking at some of the resellers but this thread IS pretty old. I decided to settle for the X9100. I managed to get it for less than $300, brand new shipped from a US seller. OEM too, not an ES. =]

Here is the link.
HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts
I ordered mine in early March. I can't believe the price they are showing now, though. -
I got the link from AndrosForever a few months ago and was going to buy the cpu but then when back and forth between upgrading the 7805u and buying the Asus G73. After realizing I love my 7805u, and was put off by the G73 temps, I decdied to buy the T9900 only to discover HP was asking $800 bucks for the processor.
-
wow thats a low price!...I know the laws of supply and demand apply but damn. Really? 800 bucks for a proc?
-
Actually something I took note of when I looked about a month ago and it was still $340 was that every OTHER (lower clocked) T-series processor was much MUCH more. The T9800 was priced at over $1,000 while the T9900 was only $340. I think HP may have slipped up and accidentally somehow didn't overprice this one, or something like that and someone finally took notice. It could have also been supply and demand too I suppose though, maybe they just had too many? That doesn't sound right though.
-
Interesting thoughts, I noticed that T9600 was around the same price at Newegg but really never investigated the matter. Well, whatever the case may be, whoever got the cpu at the $339 price point got a great deal. Looks like I be picking up the T9600 or just waiting to see what Gateway comes up with that inlcudes an i7 cpu (if they do).
-
Was a great deal. ou can get them on Ebay for a bit over 400 for the OEM. I just wish the P7805-u's would have taken a Quadcore.

What's the deal with gateway? I haven't heard any news from them. They are probably losing money to the g73 because people want to upgrade, but Gateway isn't giving them a choice.
The main competitors I see in the FX market are Qosmio, M17, and the G73. -
These chips are just going to get more expensive from the OEMs first, and following, the eBay sellers, because they're End of Life and there won't be more of them coming out.
Hotdeal on a T9900 for $339 for my P-7811FX!
