its not a labor day sale exclusive, its the whole week.
They're wrong, and honestly NEVER CALL FOR A DEAL!
-
Bought my 08/17. BOO-YAH!
I cannot find the recipt but I used my credit card and still have the box.
Does anyone think not having the reciept will be an issue the Price Matching policy? Should I go tonight and ask for a receipt to be printed at another BB store?
advice appreciated, thanks -
Do you think Bestbuy will put the $50 price tag of the game for a pre-order game like STARCRAFT 2 THAT IS BEING RELEASED ON DECEMBER 3, 2008?! Ahem, yeah do you think they'll do that?
-
Some links above refer to BestBuy.com; in-store price match policy is different:
Already bought? If an item you purchased at Best Buy is advertised at a lower price at another Best Buy store in your local area or on BestBuy.com, we'll refund you the price difference from our own sale price, or 110% of the difference from our competitor's sale price, up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days on select categories*, 60 days on HDTVs purchased from 3/2/08 through 5/10/08).
This seems open to much interpretation; anybody know from past experience how hard it is to get the refund? -
I just called BestBuy's corp. customer service number and inquired about the Labor Day sale and how the price guarantee works. Needless to say I don't think they even know how it works. I explained that I was going to buy a laptop but heard it might be on sale Sunday and wanted to know if I will get the price guarantee. Needless to say the answer I got was - "It depends..."
I guess it depends if the item is a "Best Buy Exclusive" and really how the stores will handle it. If it is a "Best Buy Exclusive" then no you won't get the price guarantee according to the rep. If it's just an average sale item then yes you will get the guarantee.
Take this for all it's worth...I think it will depend on each store personally...

walk in ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SALE PEOPLE! This is NOT a door buster, this is for the whole week.
Don't CALL, walk in and ask for the adjustment. If you got a problem, ask a manager and you'll be FINE. Don't be stupid and call corporate and alert them to this, standard price guarantee is if you find it lower for 30 days, they'll refund you the difference. Notebooks qualify for 14 days. I found my Car Stereo on sale from Bestbuy a week after i bought it, brought the receipt in that week and told them I bought this system last week, you guys got it on sale this week. Customer Service rep refunded me the difference.
Honestly people, whats the point of alerting corporate about this, BB's CEO or CFO i forget but he's already said he's very disappointed by the people who prebuy the item goes on sale and price adjusts when it comes into play. You want to screw everyone over?
For those who are within the 14 days, just take your receipt into BB and ask them if it works. If not just return your notebook and rebuy it at the same time. I've never had it not work for me. -
The 15% restocking fee for those who are outside the 14 day limit comes out to about $200, rebuying it wouldn't be worth it unless you just wanted the free game.
-
-
-
Let me repeat again, this is from the back of the Bestbuy receipt.
You have only 14 days to return a laptop, computer, game systems, monitors, etc..
Restocking fee is 15% once the item is "opened."
I have returned a Toshiba X305 unopened and was told of the policy and they did thoroughly inspect the box before giving me the refund.
Price matching is for in store purchases, online purchases will require dealing with BB customer service. -
Couldn't have said it better vision33r. Also, you can get a full refund if the product is found "defective" within 14 days.
-
Just an FYI for those X305 owners (if you want to return it for the 7811 like me). Unless you have a toshiba HD TV, the HDMI will not output sound to say.. like My Sony XBR2 LCD. I took my x305 back to BB, carried along an HDMI cable and tested it in store. The BB floor X305 acted a little different than mine, but nether would output sound via HDMI to various HD TV's. I was not charged the 15% restocking fee. ;-) The gee squad didnt even try to check it once I told them the issue.
-
um, for the x305 audio, put the audio output to SPDIF, thats the reason it didn't carry the audio over, has nothing to do with the type of TV.
-
can anyone confirm the sale? does it go for all bestbuys? including the one at colma sanfrancisco california?
-
And the sale is on! Also in the BB website they have now the reduced price so I would assume it applies to all stores as well.
-
Labor day specials 2 days only?
-
Yes, the 2 days only specials apply only to the seven items listed (i.e. Tom Tom 330 GPS unit, etc). The 7811, I believe is for the whole week.
-
just saw the site, is it really a 2-day sale?
-
Guys, Best Buy price matches. Just bring in your receipt. Print out their price matching policy from their web site.
The only caveat is that it must still be within the 14-day return period, and it must be in stock at the BB location where you're doingthe price matching. -
For those that are buying, you can buy the laptop online with the free game and do in-store pickup. I decided to go this route and return the other one I bought (unopened) rather then dealing with a pricematch since it is only a 2-day sale. I got the laptop and COD4 for $1324 after tax.
GL guys -
ok... can we also buy it from the store directly and still get the free game?
-
Here are the items good for Sun and Monday only:
TomTom XL 330S GPS
PNY 4GB Flash Drive
WD 500gb Hard drive
Sandisk Clip 2gb Mp3 player
Fujifilm Finepix 8.1 mp camera
Dell Inspiron I1318 laptop
Toshiba 46" LCD HDTV
@jericcarino, yes, you can go in store to get the lappy as well as the free game (value 49.99). Just check the BB website and click on "Weekly Ad" then put in your zip code for the flyer in your area. -
)
-
I don't believe you can get spore as the free game. It isn't available yet. I could be wrong though, why don't you head over to your local best buy and when you buy your 7811, ask if you could get spore (pre-order) as your free game. If not, then just choose another game that's available.
And, no, you don't need to bring a flyer. They'll have tons at the store. Crysis will definitely make your machine cry (at highest settings). Heck, it'll anyone cry when they try to play it at 10 fps -
haha... any advice on settings i should put crysis on to make the laptop work it without breaking the unit itself?
-
and by the way, i added spore to my cart over the internet and it's charging me 0.00 because it registered as the free game.
-
honestly, people keep sayin the answers, people keep asking the same questions. Just read a few posts in this thread and you'll be fine. I'll just from now on not post these ads in advance since it causes confusion for everyone.
-
oh.... sorry azianai... it's just that i'm so excited about this and i forgot that this has been answered earlier on.
-
Got mine this morning. No hassle. He told me to go pick out any game up to 49.99. Grabbed COD4 GOTY. Laptop rang up with the right price. Game rang up free. Was in and out in 10 minutes. Made sure I was standing at the door the second they unlocked it to open. Store had 6 of them and there was 1 guy waiting with me to buy the same laptop. We both walked out at about the same time with a smile on our face.
-
Got my pricematch without incident, though they were not willing to give me the free game - at least not without some return / re-buy rigamarole.
So, $200 + the state sales tax on that amount back, not bad for 5 minutes of work. -
For anybody who may have purchased their P-7811FX within the 14-day period I just called two of my local Best Buy stores and received the following info from both customer service rep's that I spoke with.
1) If you are within 14-days of purchase of your laptop, then you will receive the $200 credit on your purchase, this sale is a full "Sunday to Saturday" sale.
2) You will also be eligible for the free game valued at $49.99!
3) Because you are price matching your item with an internal sale from Best Buy, the laptop does not need to be in stock to be price matched!
4) You absolutely do need to be there, in person, with your receipt in hand. This is their official policy, so depending on the service rep. you deal with they may or may not hold true to this... but that is the official comment I got from both stores.
5) If you have any Reward Zone certificates available on your account, you may also bring those in to have them credited towards your laptop purchase. This one isn't really a big deal, since you could just use them towards another purchase... but I just wanted to find out if they allow this for my own knowledge.
I have found this this forum extremely helpful in the last week since picking up my new laptop, so I hope this information helps some of you in return. -
ok, now to choose a game... cod4 goty, crysis special ed, or spore preorder...? what do you guys think?
-
I picked up COD4
-
Why are you guys ignoring The Orange Box...
Whole Half Life 2 series + Team Fortress 2 + Portal. -
Agreed!
But honestly at this point who hasn't already picked this up?! If you haven't then this is one of the best deals ever in PC gaming.
BTW - If you already have say, Half Life 2 or w/e... when you install the Orange Box, Steam will recognize this and allow you to "gift" your new copy of HL2 or whatever other game that is a part of the OB to a friend! -
I gonna see if I can pay off Spore (or FH3), along with my $150 price match (i made BB price match Gateway's Retail Price).
-
Well done sir! -
Orange box constantly goes on sale for like 20-30 bucks, not the best value.
And i have it already too so i'd pick up something else lol -
-
So, YMMV. I was told that the free game deal wouldn't apply to a price match, and that the item had to be in stock. Prepare to deliver a concise argument if the associate tells you otherwise, and ask for a manger before things get confrontational with a part-timer. -
Did you make sure they understood that the price match was with their own store?
I was told that if it was an item at another store, that it did need to be in stock... but since they are the ones having the sale (BB) that does not apply.
Also with the free game, since again I bought the item in that very store they are obligated to extend the offer to us.
I hear you though, could be different from person to person within each store. However that is why I always ask for someone in customer service / returns and get there name and what time they will be working till so I know when I show up they will honor what they promised.
Best of luck to all of you in this situation. -
Well I did it online and I'll be getting my $200 refund plus the tax difference. I bought it on August 17th, arrived on Friday 22nd...therefore I am well within the 14 day period...thanks to those who pointed out the price drop. I was watching it everyday since I ordered it but I didn't expect it to be $200...I was more looking at $50. Too bad I can't get the free game.
-
First they said they will not price match it. Then I said let me talk to your manager, and a couple mins later they matched it.
Sadly I cannot fully pay off Spore. So I bought CoD4...which I already own. Hopefully I can take it to another store, say I got it as a gift, and hopefully get a gift card in return. -
okay just came back from BB with refund of $216 plus free game, I picked Crysis (actually this is first PC game for me - any suggestion in this regard ?) I bought mine last week for $1349 (after $100 instant credit for signing up for internet online). Today went back and got $216 back, final cost for me $1149 for P-7811FX. I think for this price it is best configuration out there.
-
Bought mine yesterday and went in today for my Price Match, unfortunately they would not give me the free game which their manager said it was only available for the ones who purchased it day OF sale.
-
You should have picked up the orange box, or maybe CoD4. -
-
I don't know, to me Crysis' gameplay sounds way more fun than CoD4 at least. I know I'm looking forward to it a lot more.
And IMO Orange Box isn't a good choice because 1) as others have mentioned it's cheaper than $50 and has been for ages, and you might as well get a full priced game, and 2) it's only a rental because it has "activation" DRM like so many games do now
