me wants quad core... but I doubt heat sink is enough for the quads... Q9100 as QX9300 is useless in gateway's bios
-
More test's cool................
-
Szer, was it you askin me about the PB BIOS?
EDIT: n/m found the person.. -
not me bro... i was asking about the .17 bios... I'll try the PB bios when I am free... in case shi* happens

Hi guys,
What is the standard GPU clock on P7811 for 2D and 3D mode? I ran Rivatuner and here's the result:
2D mode - Core:169, Shade:338, Memory:100.
performance 3D - Core:400, Sahder:800, Memory:300.
Shouldn't performance 3D be 600, 1500, and 800?
My current driver is laptopvideo2go 185 series. Thanks in advance. -
I think Rivatuner has some issues with proper clocks, unless you have appropriate drivers for the GPU. Check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=265740
It's another Gway thread for drivers, tools, etc. I suggest just using the Nvidia tools they provide you.
-
How much were you wanting for it? And how do you overclock the cpu? Thanks.
-
E-wrecked, any news on the new BIOS? I'm really curios to see what they have in store for us in terms of actual CPU options, like the QX9300.
What are the current notebook quad options? -
Besides the bios you will need the new HS. There is a post in the P7805u thread with a pic. I am not sure if this new HS would benefit dual core users but since it is beefier I am prety sure it wouldn't hurt.
Hopefully at some point Gateway will allow us to obtain these even if by placing them for sale. It does look like a drop in replacement for our present HS. -
I went to my local bb and the 7805u they had the on display was the 1920x1200 lg. and the rep said he would let me open one and see if it was right and let me buy the display model if it wasnt....does anyone have any thoughts on this? is it a good idea to get the floor model or should i just stick with the lower resolution? I am really picky about my framerates so would the lower res model technically give me better fps in newer games? or would the 1920 be equal?
-
Go for the floor model if you like the higher resolutions. Then make sure they give you a small discount for it being a display.
if they ask why you don't want one in the box, just let em know it's because you're a bargain shopper on a budget
And the framerates would be less running @ native 1920 vs native 1440.. but, you don't have to run with the native 1920.1200 in games

hello (I'm french sorry for the mistakes of languages).
I have the M100 Packard Bell PBG15.D10 with the bios, I'm looking for a utility compatible with Vista X64 (hard to find) to save the bios on the motherboard.
I am in search of Wflash64 (without bios Gateway) which is for me the only utility compatible with Windows Vista x64.
The goal is to extract the bios to analyze and provide little support to be Quad Core owners of the Gateway FX Series 7801/7805u/7811.
Tag source ( my forum on my laptop ) : iPower Packard Bell
I just want to help and I'd like to be told if it is possible to find this utility alone without bios Gateway (as Packard Bell has not yet given this bios on the internet).
I understand why in fact, there are several versions of my laptop, some bios PBG15.D10 and others have the PBG15.D15 (which supports quad core).
To be sure I find this tool to save my bios.
thank you for help. -

hello guys im new here and would like to say what up. anyway i just bought myself a 7805u and was wondering why my laptop has a newer bios version then the latest one on this thread 9c.12
my laptop has a 9c.17 bios if this is a newer version then what you guys currently have is there any way for me to dump it so i could share it with you guys. i too would like to see if quad is supported but am poor and cannot afford it lol. so i figured i would share the wealth. -
you'll have to create a backup via the phlash utility to make a backup -both of you. I'm not sure of the command line right this second..but, it will allow for it. Only requirement is a bootable USB media. I'll visit this again, just don't have the time right this second.
-
yes , two weak that i search this utility , i think that i will do a bootable usb media ... no solution under windows vista x64 ...
-
omg share it with us please, is it suport a quad?
-
InfectedSonic Notebook Evangelist
i would love to share it but i dont know how to dump the bios. i dont have the software to do it or know the command to do it either. mind you i havent really looked into it either but if i am provided with the software and a tutorial i would be happy to share. im not a complete noob at computers but i know that the bios is extremely critical and dont want to leave anything to chance which is why i ask for help in this matter. the least i guess i could do for now is post a picture proving i have that bios.(will edit picture link into post in a moment)
-
Can't you download the current bios or the one you want to disect and attempt to analyze that file?
-
Could you please post the exact instructions for back up the bios to a bootable usb drive with phlash16. If we can get quad support with the new bios, it could mean new life to the the fx series.
-
yes same .
-
it should be a command along the lines of "phlash /bu=9c.08.10 bios.bak /bbl" or something..replacing the 9c.08.10 with a real Gateway BIOS - I don't recommend this yet. But, if you want..make a bootable USB stick and include the DOS BIOS update from the OP in this thread. Once booted, type phlash /? and read the commands.. the backup option is there.. use it, along with the command /bbl. See my original for example. I'm going off memory, as I'm not a computer which I can attempt this. But.. include the /bbl when running it, and you should be good for making a backup. Just dont hold me responsible if something goes wrong
-
Personally I am awaiting the official release. 9c.12.00 is working fine here. It would be nice to see quads supported and finally over clock on the extreme CPU's so maybe it would be worth forking out for a QX9300..........

sry guys after several days of trying i cannot seem to get the bios to dump. im sure this is a mistake on my part but i keep getting a 0 byte dump. i turned off all the protection on it and still no go. unless someone puts out a detailed video tutorial im afraid im too dumb to do it lol.
-
The other idea for collecting the BIOS is something we tried a while back.. It should work. You'll need a copy of WinPhlash and a copy of one of the BIOSes from here. Just run WinPhlash in backup mode and it should pull down a proper BIOS. Direct it to use one of these versions as the Backup template. Give it a whirl and see what ya get. You should be able to find a copy from numerous places including Gateways support site. Sorry I'm not able to link you to all the resources, but my iPhone can only do so much
-
Hello fellow FX'ers. I have just order a 7801u and am awaiting it's arrival. In the mean time, I have been doing lots of reading.
I'm trying to get a handle on the BIOS update situation. I have read through this REALLY LONG thread (my eyes are real blurry now).
So do I have this correct...
Is the latest BIOS for the 7811/7801/7805 - 9c.12.00 ... installed using file 'IMV-030W'?
Does it support Quad core?
Is it a custom BIOS (put together by users) or does it come from Gateway?
Thanks very much for your help in understanding this. -
raston, it's a Gateway official BIOS which doesn't support quad-core. It's suspected that the .17 BIOS does. Otherwise, you've got it right about the .12 version. I need to FTP dive sometime soon and see if they've added anything new.
-
Thanks for the 'clarity'. When I receive my system, if the BIOS is the .17 or better, would it be helpful if I were to make a copy and send it?
-
It would..if you were able to do so.
The backup should be simple, I'll post in the next day or so with a "how-to" backup the BIOS.
-
Thanks for willing to help us although you no longer have the FX. Now that you sold the OCZ, what's next?
-
I can't get to the bios setup page with F2 currently. It's the 9C.08 flavor. Any ideas? I know search is my friend but I'm not finding anything.
-
Try F10 for boot then to bios page..............
-
That worked, wow I have acquired an enormous list of boot options. Wonder where they all came from. I don't remember so many being there.
-
I have just flashed my bios from 08 to 12 but i still don't have any new bios options? Also i feel like my gpu is not running like it should be it just seems like games runn better on my old laptop with a 256mb 8600M any thoughts?
-
so the gpu qusetion is unrelated to BIOS stuff?
or did your GPU performance go down after flashing? -
i have 9c.11. what does 9c.12 do for me. why can't i find these on gateways website? just wonder and looking for some release notes
-
Well you get to install your sound driver again. Other than that not too much.............
-
Hmm,.. mine is 9c.17. Not sure what that's all about.
-
We're trying to get it extracted so ppl who don't have it can install it. Some folks think it fixes some issues from old models and might add true quad core support.
-
I'll see if I can extract and push out tomorrow.
Bill -
Thanks, hope you're successful
-
Go Bill! Go! Go Bill! Go! YAY!!!!
-
Good luck
you should be able to backup via WinPhlash in Windows. Just gotta download a copy from somewhere. Let us know how it goes
-
So I'm a bit confused which BIOS should I update for my P-7811 FX. Is it the 9C.08.00 or 9C.12.00? What is the best updated one (I assume the latest is 9C.12.00)?
I'm planning to put the X9100 CPU in it soon. -
LOL, I'm using 9C.10.00 without any issues
What ever works for you.
I take it someone did read about all to tzs0 issues related to the x9100. Personally waiting for an op to pick up a t9800 or if something else along those lines is released. The t9600 also seem to be doing very well. Don't forget about the p9600. -
yeah i've never seen the tzs0 spike with my t9600
-
I guess we get to wait a bit longer for the 9c.17.00 bios.
-
what tzs0 stand for?
when I play cod5 tzs0 max is 98C - is it normal? -
98c is way too high. I belive this is a problem with the 7811's.
The TZS0 and TZS1 are ACPI. I believe they are Thermal Zone Sensor, 0 and 1. -
I was referring to Hanime and the x9100, the tzs0 issue is found in multi P-78xx notebook models (don't know about the newest revisions). Its a false overheating reading causing the notebook to cut the multipliers in have and thus clocking the CPU down. Mostly happens in notebooks that overclock there GPU and has been associated with the x9100. Haven't seen anything posted about the T9800, nor the T/P9600s.
Symptoms include the 98c spikes and sudden drop in FPS while gaming.
That's all I know on the issue since I never experienced it and thus did not really research it. -
But you're spot on with the description of the problem, Ranger.
