the way i understand it, undervolting does nothing to hurt your performance, all individual cpu's are different so they are at a voltage safe spot, though they can usually go well under what they are originally set at.

    underclocking will hurt your performance.

now i havent tried this yet, but im planning on it.

undervolting using RMclock only hurts your performance if your max multiplier is ends in .5x i.e. 12.5x as RMclock does not detect half multipliers. there are ways around it but only if your cpu uses IDA. (i had to do it with my CPU as my max multiplier is 12.5x)

for those of you with the 2.0ghz processor, you should be fine as the max multiplier should be 10x not something like 10.5x

is anyone else having issues with streaming video out of the box? I get tons of stops and pauses from sites like youtube, or when watching shows on nbc.com I have no problem with streaming video on my old computer, and I have tested the internet connectivity several times while failing at streaming and everything is ok.

Nope, youtube runs fantastic for me.

Are you using 64bit Internet Explorer?
Do you have the latest flash player software loaded?

Good question on the 64 bit ie. i've been clicking my shortcut icon on the taskbar so I'mnot sure. I would assume that would run 64 bit, but who knows. I have upgraded flash player. At first flash player had the stuttering problems and also when it went full screen it went to a black screen with sound. Now i've upgraded and I get full screen but still with the stutter. When I get home I will check to see how it runs in 64 bit IE.

When I said check if it is 64bit IE I meant to say that youtube.com at this moment can not support the browser because there is no flasp playing component available for IE 64bit.

Try downloading firefox, and playing a few videos using that. Or better yet give yourself an excuse to download the Google Chrome browser and try that! :D

yeah but it still saves available for instore purchasing and when i put in my zip code it showed it has it instock at every one of the BB by my house, but is that false info? because im sure they're all out of stock and i even had a talk to a BB employee because i tried to buy one awhile back but the closest one to me was sold out an hr be4 i got that and he said they would never be in stock again but here the site says it has it in stock. whats up with that?

Yea. Everyonce in a while (almost once a week). Their online system resets or messes up. It will show everything to be in stock everywhere. You can go nuts and mess with BB employees by ordering tons of clearly out of stock items for in store pickup.

Got rid of that junk the first hour of ownership.

Btw, somebody over at slickdeals found the refurbished Dell 370 wireless card. I'll link it in a second. Really cheap, $17 shipped.

Eh doesn't bother me too much.
I was going to uninstall it but figured if it's 60 days free might as well just use it up. Not my favorite program (or my only virus protection/firewall) but why not I guess.

    Hi gecko,

Have you opened the laptop and see if there are any "ANTENNAs" in there for the Card? Or do we have to order Antennas also? And how many Antennas does this laptop accommodate?

    Thanks,

    G! :)

    Vince...

For the life of me I can't figure out why you thought under volting was beyond your scope of ability and yet you crack the case and start playing around......

Trust me..Lesson for next time....undervolting is child's play and would have reduced your temps on the 6862 to a non worrisome level...

lol naw i knew what i was doing like i said on the other thread, i knew how to replace thermal paste its simple, its just that the screw fell and was stuck somewhere and shaking didn't get it out, i didn't even hear a single thing in there like the screw wiggling around or anything but yeah i just got it to start again and uninstall all my crap and after a restart the laptop is once again F*ed up , kept restarting itself, i put it into box and everything already gonna take it back soon

I read on a thread here about a month and a half ago (cant find it) that fps can be limited on a game b/c some feature on windows and on the game is enabled. They recommended disabling it to surpass this artificial ceiling for fps. Does anyone know what im talking about?

    Hi Vince,

You can still get it ... but it is not as good as deal that we had with M-6862 ...

Go to this URL and select Store Pick-Up ... put in YOUR STATE only ... and it will show you if any are available in your BB stores.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8907043&st=Gateway+M-6864+FX&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1213046783376

this was the GPU not CPU :) I have not had the CPU get high at all, but I understand they share a heatsink so if I undervolt the cpu it could help with overall cooling. Correct?

My temps maxed out around the temps you got, so its not uncommon for this model. I did undervolt, and now max temps are 15C lower. On this lappy, its just stupid to not undervolt it ;)

hey. just got my m-6862 today so happy. THX YOU ebay. anyway. i been reading this whole thread and found alot of great and interesting info.

So can i get a confirmation of undervolting.

Does the undervolt program work on 32bit vista only or can be used on 64bit?

What program is it? and what is the ideal undervoltage? so that no one else have to look on page 6 and skip to pg like 15 something just to find it.

Im very interested in undervoltin as you can see. My friend got the laptop and he MAX out on WOW and it was super hot. i think i can fry some chicken and make some omelet on it while he playing.

    Thx you to the replyer.
