It works, just received and installed an E8435 (SLGEA) on my P-7805u. Also, it does support VT. All the "technologies" present in X9100 or T9900 are there (or at least as stated by BIOS, CPUz and Everest - the latter in fact recognizes the processor as the T9900).
Yes, that's a fact, there are E8435s with two different wattages: SLAQD @ 55W TPD and SLGEA @ 44W TDP, which equals X9100's. The processor runs very hot, won't deny it, seems the P series was designed having the low power Pxxx series in mind, but it's perfectly manageable.

Hey, I noticed Big Mike has a WUXGA as well as Internal BT. I know there's like a "2nd model" type of thing, but my stuff has a WUXGA and no Bluetooth.
-
"internal bluetooth" is a personal modification; it's not done by Gateway.
you'll need one of these:
Bluetooth 2.0 Module + cable for Gateway P-7811 FX 7811 - eBay (item 120449618187 end time Jan-09-11 14:49:08 PST)
which plug into a free port on the mobo situated near the wireless on/off switch. -
Has anyone upgraded their wifi card to a better one? If so which one? The P7805u only has two ant connections, I am looking for a better card.

Anyone know how to fix game lag issues? I have seen people playing Crysis on max settings/resolution fine with this laptop.
My laptop used to play games like ME2 and MW2 perfectly on max settings. Now those same games lag. I did a factory restore, still getting some lag, I cleaned out the heatsink and put new thermal paste on the CPU which had a pretty high gaming temp-80c, now it's around 40c. Still getting lag unless I put the resolution down.
Any suggestions? -
