Run the original installer and it'll install the software for webcam. the n go to device manager, find imaging devices, expand, should say something like USB camera, then right click, update driver. Browse my computer>point to the folder I mentioned earlier. Should work after that.

When i connect my 7805 to my HDTV using the HDMI cable , at times the audio switches back from the TV to laptop. And there are times when it shows invalid format on the TV. I do get it fixed but its only by trial and error. No permanent solution though. Anybody faced such problems with a permanent fix ?

I disable my sound on my laptop. Forces it to the TV everytime. I got a 60" Mitshubishi TV and never had a problem after doing this.

jota1500's method should work all the time. An alternative is if your playing a game or watching a movie close the screen on the laptop before you start either the game or movie. I notice that this would happen to me if I plugged the HDMI cable into my laptop after I started a game or movie.

    I have a GW p7805u fw 9c.17.00.

I am interested in upgrading my processor (p8400) to something around a t9700, t9800, t9900.
I need better performance for World of warcraft. Is one of theese the best option given my current rig? Would a P9600 be better? i need a good 10 fps increase. I've heard this is doable with just this upgrade, but I know more may be involved.

What advice can you guys give me?

    Thanks,
    Quan

What is the FASTEST driver you guys have found?

Check my sig. Don't play WoW, but it seemed to help my overall performance somewhat. At least for the money I spent on it. If you got it, go with the T9900.

i dunno if wow is a cpu hungry game but i can imagine it would be. anyway i have some really cpu intensive program i would use one of those is called dolphin. its a gamecube/wii emulator. with the old p8400 i had really low fps playing zelda windwaker on my laptop. after i bought the x9100 processor the game now runs at full speed.(with p8400 i was getting low 10 to low 20s fps)

its also made a huge difference with my ps2 emulator as well. in conclusion if wow is a cpu intensive game then i can imagine a pretty significant fps upgrade.

Okay, I'm using the 195.81 driver and on 3d Mark the fps is dipping down to 12 on the opening scene. What is wrong? Does anyone else have this problem with this driver?

I have switched drivers, and I still have the same problem. My GPU performance is ridiculously low. My comp. isn't on power saving mode.

    Any ideas?

I believe there is a safe-guard on the gpu or something similiar. I get high performance from it, but then it will lock up in a game for a few seconds. After the lockup, the gpu is extremely slow, even though the clocks are the same.

Well if money is not an issue the processor with the highest clock frequency will obviously be the best (given that they have identical catch sizes, which they do).

T9900 and X9100 are equal, only diff is that T9900 supposedly runs cooler.
T9800 is cheaper and delivers an almost equal boost (2.93 GHZ vs. 3.13)

    I would get a T9800 and save $150 myself.

I would check temperatures first. Also, if you overclock to high it will sometimes simply lock up or dump the frequency to a 'bare minimum' as a safeguard.

I wouldn't until the prices come down even more, it's still a 400 plus dollar upgrade for a laptop that is no longer worth even the 1000 bucks it was new. Still much better than the 1000 bucks a 2x4gb kit cost when the laptop came out, but I don't really see it being worth 400 either, maybe if it bottoms out around 200 bucks at some point.

Undervolting my GPU to 1.07 @ 720/900/1800 clocks has brought my max temperatures to 70-72 degrees on my Video Card. Pretty sweet, used to have 78-80 max temps while gaming @ those settings and my gaming is actually smoother than before (less stuttering but same fps).

okay I seem to be having a problem with my webcam

I installed the new Windows 7 driver for it and now I get an error message

"Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer."

I restart my laptop and it still happens

is it because I had the camera disabled in the device manager when I installed the new driver? it doesn't even show up in the device manager anymore

edit 3: okay now it just says "Please turn on the Camera." but I'm not sure how. The only thing that appears under imaging devices in the device manager is called WSD Scan Device

edit: oh and for some reason when on the power saver power plan Aero no longer automatically disables when I'm on battery power

edit 2: scratch that last part, I ended up just installing Aerofoil which fixed that problem for me but any help about the camera would be greatly appreciated

Check Add/Remove Programs and see if Video Web Camera is found in the list. Thats how it shows up with the new driver from gateway website. If not the uninstall whatever devices are there under imaging devices if your sure if you are not using those. Restart the system. Run the Setup file of the downloaded driver. Restart once more, might need that to work. After restarting check the startup programs on the taskbar and if you see it there try starting it from there. Before you do all this just hover ur mouse on the top right of ur screen. Thats where the toolbar shows up usually.

the toolbar shows up just fine but no driver seems to have gotten installed during the process

nothing shows up under imaging devices in the device manager anymore since I found and deleted the driver Windows 7 had automatically installed for the device before trying once again to install the Gateway driver

it still just says "Please turn on the Camera." whenever I try to get it to do something

    I think it hates me :( :p

My guess would be no more than 2 display per GPU. Thats including your laptop display. Thats my guess. But how would 3 display benefit you ?

I thought there might be one since it does not use much power when not plugged (and the graphic performance become poor).

Err I've had my P-7805u for some time. Lately I've noticed that my hard drive is getting extremely hot (140+ F). However, I'd assume since I've not really checked until now. The drive has likely always been that hot.

I also know that drives are supposed to shutdown at round 50c (122F). This is for desktop drives as far as I know. Can anyone give me some insight as to what I should do?

Well, first I would backup the data on that puppy just to be on the safe side. The avg temp should be around 120°F at least for the 320 gb hd that came originally came in it. Open up the back, take off panels and take some canned air and blow all the crap out of it. Do a visual check and see if anything looks burnt or out of the ordinary. put it back together and start her up. Use hwmonitor or equivalent program and monitor the temps. I would also recommend using a hard drive tuner/checker(software) to check your hard drive to see if its getting ready to fail.
See below or there may be others here on the forum, do search.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/testharddrive.htm

If after all that and you don't find anything, and temps are stable around 120°F, then perhaps it was the dust bunnies that you blew out earlier.

If you do find something in the diagnosis with some software, post it on here and perhaps we (the forum) can help you out at that point.
    Good luck.

Hey guys, I just got a p-7805u, I got it used. When I got it, it ran perfect, 59 fps on World of Warcraft, but now, about 3 weeks later its doing horrible. I'm getting about 10-20 fps now. When it first started acting up it would play games fine when they first started and then just jump down to 10 fps until I restarted the game, then it would repeat. I'm not sure how hot it gets while playing a game, it gets pretty hot though. I just downloaded hwmonitor and at an idle its TZS0-61c TZS1-61c, core 0 is at 57c and core 1 is at 55c, gup is at 55c and assembly is at 50c. I'm not sure what all of this should be at. Thats while sitting completely flat on a table. Any suggestions?

Could you tell me if the vga monitor is independent of the others or it repeats one of them?

Is it adjustable on the NVIDEA control panel?

I run both monitors as extended desktop when I have them hooked up. You can control them through Nvidia's control panel. I am pretty sure you can set them up as different screens.

Well Sturg13, you're not giving us much info. Which WIN OS version? What Troubleshooting steps besides the reboot have you tried? What are your temps when you game?

    Some suggestions based on very little info;

Check OS SP and updates. Make sure they are current.

Check Nvidia drivers. Lots of Forum info on latest and greatest.

Check Audio and other drivers to make certain they are current. Yes, audio drivers can cause issues. They're often ignored however. Current drivers for your OS are on this forum.

Clear your memory of as much startup stuff as possible when you game.

Uninstall/reinstall game. Is your WOW current.

CHECK WOW FORUMS for possible issues including drivers and OS compatibility.

Clear HWMonitor of low/high temps then play WOW. When WOW slows, exit out and check HWMonitor highs.

Which Gateway BIOS do you have. .17c supposedly cools more competantly.

Does WOW slow down in the same place? Is it more graphically intense when it happens? Have you tried turning down the graphics settings and judging the effect?

Finally, a friendly reminder. These issues are sometimes very difficult to resolve. The more info and detail you can put into a post on this and any forum, the better and more detailed the answers you will receive. Do some checking, some troubleshooting and then let this forum know in some detail your results. :)

With 10 minutes of gaming it went to TZS0 and TZS1 87c, Core0 and 1 77c, GPU 80c, and Assembly 48c. I'm not sure about my Bio's or any of that stuff, I'm pretty new to doing all this with a computer. I'm downloading that RivaTuner right now and I'll post back on that. I thought it may have just been dust clogging it up because when I pick the laptop up and let the bottom vents get more air it stays a little bit cooler. But I don't really have any history on this laptop as far as the updates and everything, I know its not WoW because after I get done gaming and its warmed up it just runs slow all togeather. It takes longer to load programs and so forth. Do you maybe have some links to some updated Nvidia drivers you could give me? Or any other drivers I may need to update.

    I'm running vista 64bit

It's often times set to 100 when it should be 105. If you don't correct this your core temperatures will not be reported correctly.

I don't see any way to modify CPUID Hardware Monitor. I don't see anyway to change any settings or anything. Sorry I'm bugging you guys to death, I'm just worried with how hot its feeling, my old laptop didn't get near this hot but it wasn't a gaming laptop either.

If you go to the HWMonitor program folder (C:\Program Files\CPUID\HWMonitor) and open hwmonitorw.ini, you can set the CPU_0_TJMAX value to use there.

I just can't win.. when I try to save it, it tells me access was denied, I tried to open it with notepad instead of wordpad and it tells me it can't create it to make sure the path and file name are correct?
