Does anyone else have an annoying high pitch gpu fan noise when the fan stops spinning?

I am jumping in real late, but I just purchased my P-7805u from BestBuy and the 3 year accidental coverage cost me $270. By the way, I recommended a friend buy their HP Pavillion at BestBuy and she has used the warranty 3 times already in less than 6 months. This last time her 160GB HD was supposedly "dying" and they gave her a 320GB HD. I slapped the extra 160GB (they gave it back to her) into the second HD bay and it is working just fine.

More than six months of wireless issues with Vista and I think you just solved what no one else (or hundreds of pages worth of google searches) would solve! One less reason for me to hate Vista. (Any solutions on the DHCP issues? Does not like SonicWalls much)

Now that I actually received mine, I will share this EXCELLENT opportunity/deal.

BestBuy has advertised the P-7805u for $899.99 if ordered online. It is part of the "Outlet" store. What I did not realize is that the stores price things differently! When I ordered my laptop from my local BestBuy the price came out to $576.

I have not finished setting it up, but thought I owed it to those in this forum because the feedback here is what made me decide to go with this model.

By the way, it is clear that my laptop was brand new. I will check to see which display I have once I set it up and get back to this forum.

    Best,

    Alfred

I called my local store to see if they happened to have one in stock (I figured they did not) and also because I wanted the 3 year accident and I was only offered 2 years of standard extended warranty. I gave the rep the sku and she gave me a price of $574.99 and $269.99 for the 3 year. I must have verified the SKU and specs a dozen times with her...

I have it here. No fan noise, but it appears to be the printed specs for the display. One thing interesting i that the DVD drive has Labelflash built in... (Was this standard on the previous batches?)

They are not available at any stores, they are an outlet item. But the local stores can order outlet items...

No you cannot. It is no longer being shipped. For outlet items, it needs to not say "Not Available for Shipping;" this means its out at the DC

Yes as stated below. But why would you want to? It will eat your battery soooo fast. And the more cycles you put on a rechargeable battery, the shorter the life of it. Plus you know you're getting top performance on A/C. Just MHO..... :)

    Yes, it works.

You'll need the vista x64 driver for the SD Card reader, that was the only device I found not to work right off the bat.

i talked to gateway support and if they did not lie to me then the windows 7 drivers for the 78 series will be up within a week.

undervolting pros and cons are basically universal to whatever your doing it to but as far as i know you cant undervolt the gpu without some kind of hardware modification.

What? All the Vista drivers work for 7 on mine. What are you having problems with?

im having no problems at all with drivers except maybe the audio driver not working all the time. but i mostly wanted to know when the driver that are designed for win 7 were going to be released if at all. i dont like having to use drivers that are designed for a previous os version considering that win 7 has changed how the drivers function in someways. also those drivers are almost a year old they need to get off their asses and make new ones already lol

in all honesty though i think they just lied to me because for some reason i always get the liars when i make support calls.

    Try this:
You will be able to overclock the GPU and you can also save your settings for your next startup.

My WebCam works fine with Win 7 Ultimate on my 7805u. My driver version listed on the Device Mgr. properties tab:

    Driver Provider: Chicony
    Driver Date: 5/24/2007
    Driver Version: 6.2.218.524
    What is yours?

As stated by Evil Claw, it does come with the driver. Version numbers are goofy things. The version numbers stated in file names are often labled with a different nomenclature than the driver numbers on property windows. This is true of Nvidia as well. Without hijacking your thread, maybe someone could quickly explain that?
