I just ran 3dmark with stock drivers as a baseline and I got 3129.. from the numbers I've been seeing that seems low, but I really don't know. Does that sound about right for a 7811 with stock drivers?

Hey, i have a Gateway P-7811 FX, But i was wondering which one of these driver's is the Wireless Internet Card that's already inside your laptop, considering i just remformated and it doesn't seem to be reading the card inside of the laptop.
It it shows the wireless card as being an Unkown Device, so please respond ASAP Thanks.

3dmark is a pretty good program for benchmarking, but its not the end all be all of your computer.

    I went from 7200ish with the t5750 and the 8800gts to a 5300ish with the x9000 and the 8800gts.

Now my computer is preforming like it should with a 3gHz CPU in it and i can tell in CPU benchmarks and the sheer speed of my system that its running @3.0gHz, but for some reason 3dmark didnt like what i did to my system and gave me a crap score.

    Its no worries.

Also did you run 3dmark06 or vantage?

You may be overheating and throttling like crazy. Run HWMonitor while benching and check the max temp for GPU when done.

That is the cause then. Vantage uses alot diffrent benchmark and the scores are ALOT lower.

Most of the high end stuff (talking mad overclocked sli/crossfire desktops) arent breaking 20K if i remember correct.

over 3K in vantage is a really nice score for a laptop. Ran correctly matching your 9800 clocks and the x9000 i think i would get a bit over 4000 in vantage. You can pretty much multiply your vantage score by 2.5-3 to get your 3dmark06 score (not an exact math but pretty close)

the 7811 uses the 5100wireless card.

Did you make a recovery CD/DVD like your owners manual tells you to before you reformatted the computer? Your drivers would be on your recovery disk

LOL my first thought was it looks like a Vantage score. Most people don't use it because it is "pay for" software. (I won't ask) Unless there is a free version somewhere ....

So Look for a 5100wireless card driver and put it on a disc and bring it to my computer correct?

    Hi All,

I have a XP64 question. I'm trying to run 7811 with xp64 and I have most things working. I have slipstreamed the SATA driver into the XP64 installation CD and I managed to the the Video and LAN to work as well (wireless still needs to be tested). However I can not locate any drivers for the sound, eSata or the modem. Direction on how to install Audio on XP32 are pretty clear and precise thanks to rancid ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3871519&postcount=178), but I'm not sure what to do about XP64? Do I download http://www.megaupload.com/?d=11K81L9X driver from Vista64 and try to use that in XP64? Rancid post references Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio; I do not believe that there is one like this for XP 64?

Has anyone out there got sound working with xp64?

Try installing the XP one and if it fails try to dl the Win2K3 Server one. If that fails then try Vista.

I also need to modify the X64 install package for the audio drivers. Another forums member has requested help with this so I will try to get to it sometime shortly. Everything else will be exactly the same.

Can someone that has slipstreamed the SATA drivers for XP test their eSATA port please? Mine does not work using IDE mode for disk mode and it is driving me insane I can't get eSATA to work. I don't have the SATA controller showing up in XP like it shows in the standard Vista install so I have a feeling that is part of the reason.

No promises this may or may not work. These drivers are for another laptop that I modified, not sure if they support 64-bit. Please download the install package here and follow these directions: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UA8OBYZF

First things first, you need to find a working Microsoft UAA installer that will work under XP 64-bit. Try using this first: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...D9D24F9&displaylang=en&displaylang=en then try using Windows 2003 Server second, Xp 32-bit third, then try Vista 64-bit if all else fails. For further information on what I am talking about please see my audio install guide for Xp 32-bit.

Open device manager and Right-click on the unrecognized audio device, choose Properties, then click on the Reinstall driver button.

Choose "No, not at this time" at the following prompt, then click next.

Choose "Install from a specific location", then click next.

Browse for the folder that contains the sp105audiox folder, then click OK, then click Next. Hopefully windows will see the modified driver & install it.

Once windows has finished copying files, test your sound to see if it works.

    Hello Rancid

I have tried your suggestion but I had no luck. UAA drivers complain that they are either too old ( I have xp64 sp2) or the wrong architecture/platform. I did try to load UAA from HP site (sp33566.exe), which loaded with no error but it had no effects on the device manager and the question marks.

You driver: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UA8OBYZF; xp64 could not load either.

I hope you have some aces up your sleeve :)

I don't have a eSata connector handy or I'd test it on XP x64.

The driver won't load until you get an unknown audio device. Did you try the UAA link that I posted: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f1-065c-41e8-a148-9d79bd9d24f9&displaylang=en
It is supposed to be for 64-bit XP so if yours is saying it is oudated, you may already have it installed. Try doing a windows update on it and let it search for a driver using the internet. The first part of this will be to find a working UAA solution, next part will be drivers if the ones I posted don't work.

Can someone using SP1 try this out instead of SP2? I know in XP 32-bit the update was included in SP2 but still had to be installed.

Can you tell me if you have the file hdaudbus? It is located in C:\Windows\system32\drivers on my system but will obviously be different for you.

If it is not you can extract it from your SP2 CD from the cab file and then do a windows update after you place the file in this directory to see if it updates. Doing some research it looks like it is here on the CD:

    C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download

named 954b73a431e3cca31ba6b43bb31a23f118e30ff2 without extension. You will want to add .cab after the filename.

Trying to get audio on WinXP-64 bit as well. I'm getting the same things as twojenski.
Error - "The kb888111xpsp2.exe ia for a different hardware platform."

Also, I don't have an Unknown Audio Device listed, just three unknown devices.
UAA HD Audio Bus driver is installed already.
I do have hdaudbus in my c:\windows\system32\drivers folder.

Well, I went up to MS update and guess what? It found 105K UAA driver which it downloaded. I also managed to get the modem to show up in the driver list, but still no sound. I also tried to forces some Conexant HDA drivers, and my XP 64 no longer comes up correctly. It loads up, but then I get a blank screen and it hangs there forever.

I believe it is for embedded video. The 7811 uses an add on video card and not embedded video. I was curious as to why you even had the driver. I'd ignore it.

I think the UMD driver is for Centrino2's ability to switch between integrated and discrete graphics to save battery power. The only problem is I don't think the PM45 has an integrated graphics core.

If Gateway had used a GM45 chipset, things would be different, and perhaps the inclusion of the driver hints at the future USE of the GM45 chipset, which can support integrated and discrete simultaneously.

Before I say anything, please excuse my stupidity. I'm not even sure if this problem has come up before...

In attempting to update the 64-bit Vista Conexant audio drivers from the Gateway, there was a failure and the driver did not install. Naturally, I removed all traces of the driver and then attempted to reinstall the stock driver from the recovery disc. But I get the same problem...the wizard asks my to install the driver, and the window pops up in the lower left that says the device driver software installed successfully. But then a window pops up saying that the driver installation resulted in a failure.

How do I get the stock audio driver working again? Please help!!

Disregard that comment....I tried it again from the gateway website and audio is working fine now...I'm still extremely confused though (obviously due to my lack of knowledge in this area). Why are there 3 sound tabs in DxDiag?

Not sure but I'll talk to you.

How did you remove "all traces"? Simply through add/remove? Just wondering if you did anything more than that.

Maybe boot to Safe Mode and uninstall again. Then boot normal and try reinstall.

If you are still using your original Vista OS, your drivers are at C:\Acer\DVR. At least I think that is where if memory serves. I moved mine. You could try the driver there in case it did not copy correctly to your CD

I'm not sure where the HDMI comes from. I'm still using original setup. I did notice an HDMI reference in the mysterious "Intel VGA UMA" folder but how that would install an NVIDIA driver is beyond me. Maybe it installs with the Video driver ... who knows.

Edit: For crap sake, it took me 15 minutes to type all that. :p Just kidding.

Interesting I only have 2, one for speakers and one for spdif. Your new driver must have added one. What does it say?

There are new wireless and Marvell NIC drivers for both Vista and XP:

    WLAN (5100/5300): http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=308410

    NIC: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=306733

I also have no idea if they work in XP or not, but here are a veritable bevy of drivers for the nVidia HDMI Audio component: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=308414

You'd have to figure ONE of them will take.

Also, for people still using 8.0.x.xxxx SATA controller drivers: here are 32 and 64-bit versions of the 8.5.0.1032 F6 basic drivers: http://rapidshare.com/files/152821622/SATA.zip.html

I think you need to install Matrix Storage Manager,THAT IS USEFUL when you use two Hard drives. The machine has 2 hard drive slots. If you do not add a new hard drive, then can not install it.I will add a 1TB hard disk.SO i need install.
