    Hey guys,

I own a Gateway P-7811FX for like two months now. Bought it refurbished from TigerDirect for $750 and got it like brand new.

The laptop is super great except one major issue I have to deal is the "lockup/hang/freeze" when play video games other than that nothing can beat it. price, features, specs...etc. :)

I really don't wanna give up and send it back to replace another one because I love this one. Day by day googlin' for the solution but it seems to helpless and I was gonna give up but yesterday I found some improvement after testing 3 different drivers.

    1st Test.

I did a clean install Vista Ultimate 64 and install latest GeForce driver 185.20 from LaptopVideo2Go.com then running some test with FurMark stability and extreme burning mode + Orthos at the same time with cooling pad and the gpu temp goes up to 79c then got lockup after 1 hour 40 minutes

    2nd Test.

Reinstall factory GeForce driver from Gateway website then running FurMark stability and extreme burning mode + Orthos at the same time again but this time without cooling pad on the bottom and GPU temp up to 92c then it auto shut down my laptop after 34 minutes.

    3rd Test ( a working solution so far )

This time I happen to bump into LaptopVideo2Go Forums and I found Dox's Customized Forceware Releases section and I decided to give it a shot on one of Dox's latest customized driver 185.20 and run the same test again with FurMark stability and extreme burning mode + Orthos at the same time and guess what? My GPU seems to run very stable. I let it run 4 hours already and the max GPU temp I ever get is 76c and it still running as of now is 4 hours and 43 minutes and surprisingly the GPU temp went down to 67c.

The test run very smooth without hang/freeze/lockup after 4 hours and almost 5 hours and counting....and the temp seems to decrease. uhmmm i'm very happy so far and I will let it run till the end of the day then run some games I've had problems before then report back to you guys.

The chance of solving my lockup problem is pretty high cuz my laptop stability never go this far with FurMark+Orthos in extreme burning mode.

Here is the link to Dox's Customized Forceware Releases

I'll post some screen shots later.

I hope this help some of you having the same problem like me.

Please share if you have other solutions

Looks good, although mine (the one I sent back) would do the temp drop if I didn't have furmark maximized.

Make it full screen and see if your temps don't increase.

Never tried the Dox 152.20 on my old one though, so maybe that fixed it.
