Hm, you guys are correct. I must be in la-la land right now. I thought that even if you disabled the paging file on the system drive in Windows XP, upon reboot it would re-enable it, and the only possible thing was to lower it to the minimum size (usually 2mb)

Yeah, I have the part numbers for bt module and cable, if they work in the p-7811 is anyones guess including gateway tech support, so that is what my conclusion was based on, looks just like a dell's.

Quick question, between the gpu and the gpu's heatsink, is there only thermal paste? Or is there a copper shim in between somewhere. IF there is a copper shim in between with or without a thermal pad attached, how do you AS5 it? Do you apply the AS5 on both sides of the copper shim and then mush the heatsink/gpu together? Or do you just toss the shim and just put AS5 only in between?

Awesome, only thermal paste? I'm ready to AS5 this sucker. Now....if only I knew where to begin with taking my laptop apart....I heard something about removing the battery and taking the screws out there first. After that, I still have no idea.

He may not be back for a while..this thing is easy to open. It's just a matter of putting it back together with all the correct screws in each slot, and not having any leftover. The one I tore down had a lump in the middle of the keyboard afterwards. And I only had 3 screws with no holes to put them in. Story of my life, eh? More than enough screws to go around..just no takers when I'm lookin. The x305 Qosmio was an *easy* tear down. The HP dv9000 was a pain in the @$$, and this would probably fall right in the middle of the two. More towards HP than Tosh. Not difficult, just tedious. :)

so you did tear your dv9 apart. yeah, that was one project there the first time, but after that it was fairly easy. also..when tearing apart laptops you really should use a digital camera.(use computer to blow up pictures) it shows everything in color (screws included) yeah, i can't be having no extra screws afterward...think i did that once.. just for one screw. (tore it back apart) and matched it with my pictures and seen my error. :)

waiting on Vwracer69 to find that pll code, so we can give it to the pll master to get us a front side bus program going... then you will be able to up that score another 200 to 1000 points.....

What i did when i tore my 6860 apart to make life easier was took some paper and i drew a picture of say the bottom of the laptop as best as you can in shape etc, then put dots where each screw you have to take out go's ,then i stood each screw up on that little dot drew and when it came time to put it back together it was easy peasy.

"Connect the dots.. la da di da.. connect the dots.. la dee da" See avatar for more info.

Quad, I though I was smart, and had 3 plastic bowls..one labeled "top", one "bottom" and one "Under cover". Well.. the only one I had screws left in was the under cover one..shoulda maybe specified whether under top or bottom cover, and which cover..and yeah.. no wonder I had leftovers. :)

Cool. It almost looks as if you could get away with removing the hdd caddy and carefully sneak it around and in without taking the entire system apart, but sadly I just removed the hdd and it's not possible.

This is the only service manual I found, it didn't help me with bt but it does show some basic preparation and disasembly.
