I have a question personally, if I wanted to say install an extra antenna and replace the Intel wifi link 5100 card with the 5300, how much of the laptop would I have to go about taking apart? In addition what would be the simplest and safest method of doing so?

I'd make certain the notebook can support an extra antenna first. Failing that, just buy an Expresscard.

Most express cards I've seen seem to get bad reviews and tend to not support vista 64 or have bad range. Is there one that doesn't suck?

DLink's has a Vista64 driver dated 8/7/08 and there's a forum specifically for N-related issues and how to configure settings for maximum performance.

their are currently 3 wires going to the wifi card currently in your notebook. so im pretty sure that one should work for your new card. (internal mini pci express card that is)

that's if you can find one small enough to fit the right side mini pci express slot.

I guess it was more along the lines of how much of the laptop needs to be taken apart, like the whole thing, or like just say the keyboard.

The p-7811 only has 2 antenna wires inside it. he also asked how much work it would be to install the 3rd antenna. it is some work to install the antenna in the factory spot, but like i said some people have just installed the 3rd under the pciexpress cover and have had ok results, up to you how far you want to go.

other updates, i just received my bluetooth module i ordered on ebay from china, took a while. i hope to have a "how to disassemble " guide up within the next week. need to find the time to slowly take apart and document with pictures everything i do. like i said i will get it up as soon as i can.

huh? if your referring to tezen. he was talking about the wifi.

then changed his mind and thought it easier to switch cards.
