There's nothing wrong with putting the x9000 into the new 7811FX. All you're doing is making your system drag due to the lower FSB; 800 mhz. But, some people can't afford the extra $100 to get the x9100 to utilize the 1066 mhz FSB, higher clocks, and DDR3 RAM
It's kinda like taking a Ferarri Enzo and running regular unleaded gas, from Uncle Tom's gas can that's been sitting in the tool shed all winter. Some things just don't make sense.

As to your metaphor...it would be like putting diesel fuel into a 747. It simply WONT WORK.
I really don't know how clearer i can make this. YOU CAN NOT PUT THE X9000 INTO THE 7811.
If you don't listen at this point then I'm sorry, but your just going to waste your money and be left with a CPU that doesn't work on your rig. I have said it doesn't work about 4 times now and i refuse to do it again. I really hope you listen this time.
And E-Wrecked... please find out the correct information on a subject before you start posting like you know something. What you posted is blatantly wrong and you should honestly be ashamed.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

NO That's the 3rd time. You waste some money because the X9000 is cheaper than the X9100. If you use the X9100 on the P6860FX, you waste more money than with the X9000 + 7811FX.
Dude! You waste money doesnt mean that will work or not oO
And that's not even my question... And i did not ask anything about the
P-6860FX oO! This topic is related to P-7811FX and not P-6860FX. I have the money, so just never mind. I know what

X9000 + 7811FX = waste of money. Get that into your head. Why is it a waste of money?
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK!
Is that clear enough?
X9100 works with 7811FX.
If you have the money for a retail X9000 or X9100, I would suggest you go look at the Sager 5796 instead. You're wasting your money with a pointless upgrade.
And if you read the replies properly, you will notice that I answered your question 25 posts ago at post 80.

Some people just don't know how to spend money wisely. Why do people bother upgrading this laptop's processor to X9100 when they can buy the superior Sager 5796?
The 7811 FX is a budget gaming notebook. Spending more money to upgrade it just goes against the whole purpose of buying this notebook in the first place... -
i say buy the x9000 find out it doesnt work than i'll buy off you for half the price, so it wont be a complete waste of money.

And i guarentee you could buy this laptop and an X9100 and almost still be equivalent to the Sager in terms of power, and spend less. -

Assuming you don't get it on sale, the new FX will cost almost 1,600. More importantly, the X9100 isn't available on Ebay or at least not as commonly as the X9000. And it retails for around $900-1050.
That totals up to $2,500. You can definitely get a very decently spec'd out 5796 for $2,500.
Just spec'd a 9800M GT, 4GB RAM, WUXGA, 200 7200, Vista Home Premium, T9600 for less than $2,500 including cash discount. The T9600 wouldn't see very much performance drop from the X9100 and I'm willing to bet that the 9800M GT has a more than decent chance to make up the difference between the two processors.
If you do get the FX on sale, and manage to pick up a X9100 cheap off ebay, the FX line is cheaper by a substantial bit, but the latter will be tough to do for a while. -

Umm. That is a terrible comparison to the 7811. The only thing thats the same is the processor.

the prices will drop, you need to find deals, how do you think i got a retail X7800 for $300, cause its old. This is new tech, it will be expensive for a while, even in the budget sector.

Just sayin that for nearly the same price you can get something a bit more compact (15.4" instead of 17") and a 9800gt!!!

Can someone explain one more time why the x9000 is not compatible with the 7811? Isn't the chipset compatible? What else affects the compatibility. And can someone confirm one more time that the x9100 IS compatible? Thanks for your help, sorry to beat the dead horse, just trying to understand all this better.

If you are. FINE. I will.
The chipset is NOT compatible.
X9000/6860FX = Santa Rosa
X9100/7811FX = Montevina
These chipsets are NOT compatible with each other, regardless of the fact that there exists socket P processors for both chipsets.
If this isn't clear enough, please do me a huge favor and not ask any more questions.
Thanks -

To be honest, I figured you were just being a wiseass at first, but decided to lend you a hand just in case you were genuine.
The only person who's said that the X9000 works with the 7811FX was E-Wrecked, and I'm sure you noticed how many people jumped on him about that.
It would be hysterical/hilarious as the individual would have bought the X9000 for his 7811FX would them come here moaning about the incompatibility after having been told in, no uncertain terms of the incompatibility. Basically, we would find it hilarious as the individual deserved whatever was coming.
@narsnail, I'm cranky because ... you can read the rest of the thread.

If you find questions like this hysterical, you've been sitting at your comp way too long. Go outside. You know what? You may even meet a real person, may even make a friend. Then you can laugh about something that normal people find funny. Tip: if you want to see someone put an incompatible chip in their comp, don't say "I hope he puts this incompatible chip in that comp" right under where he just asked if it's compatible. I don't think anyone's going to fall for that, good try tho "joker."Click to expand... -

And I was also asking WHY it's not compatible, incase you read my original ques too fast. I know its montevina vs santa rosa, but that doesn't answer my ques -

On top of informing you that the 7811FX will not work with the X9000, which is the 5th or 6th time I'm doing this. I was also telling you that the X9100 will, which is what you should be looking for if you want to upgrade.
The only reason why I mentioned the 6860FX is because it WILL work with the X9000. Since it's your money, as you like to remind us so often, please, buy the X9000 for the 7811FX by all means.Click to expand... -
