The video output ports on the side of my laptop mess up my system. When I try to use the HDMI output port, no applications work after that. Every single application produces Microsoft C ++ "side by side configuration" errors. Even after going back into single display mode. The only option was to re-install Windows. Using the VGA port works for dual display, however, afterword no video games will load. I have tried city of heroes, spore, and oblivion, and they will go no further than the loading screens. They appear in the task manager and I have to end-task them. After re-installing Windows, and re-installing the games, everything works fine. The second I try plugging in a second monitor, the games fail to work again.

I have searched high and low, and no one seems to have this sameproblem. I am guessing it has something to do with the operating system that comes with the laptop being 64bit. Maybe the vga port and hdmi port drivers are for 32 bit? I have looked, and let vista look, and they say the drivers are fine. Do I just have a faulty laptop?

I've been dealing with this for months now trying to figure out a solution on my own because I do not want to have to be without a laptop if I take it in somewhere, or have to send it in for service. Please tell me this is a known issue or something, or there is a quickfix. I'm tired or re-installing my operating system, and I'd like to be able to use the video output capability this laptop can provide.

I tried e-mailing gateway support and needless to say they game me the runaround. Telling me something in garbled english about my video card not allowing dual display since it's a single video card. And that was it. I told them that makes no sense, and the laptop came with the ports right on the side, and they're tellin me I can't use them? They then offered to have me buy support minutes. Yeah whatever.

I did a repair install and my games come up ine, but I just know the second I try a dual monitor again, it's going to mess up. Has anyone had these problems before? I can't be the only one.

Thanks so much in advance for any help.
