I'm glad I'm not the only one with the screen issue. Although, mine happens when I view it from the right. Other than that, it acts just like my 19" Samsung 940BW TN panel as far as viewing angles go. I've played Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for 30 minutes to an hour with no issues as well as CoD4 for about 30 minutes with zero issues. The hottest the GPU got (according to HWMonitor) was 86C and that was on a flat surface. Now granted, I put my finger next to the GPU vent (left side of the laptop) and I couldn't hold my finger there longer than 3-4 seconds before it started to burn. I'll play around with my laptop some more to decide if I should take it back due to the horrible screen angle viewing. I mean, I actually do use it to watch a couple of movies with friends sometimes (yea, I'm too lazy to pull out the HDMI cable and hook it up to the 32" LCD TV )

Well, I went and returned my laptop at Best Buy and walked out 15 minutes later with a new one. The guy at the register asked the Geek squad if they'd be able to fix the screen  All I had to bring in was the receipt (I got the free game when I purchased the laptop). Oh yea, and I checked Gateway... the battery for this laptop is $199. Best Buy offers a 1-2 year (can't remember which) plan for the laptop that costs $199 and I told the guy that's ok, I'd rather spend the money on the battery.

Just take a hammer and start pounding on that screen, that'll fix it right up.

ok, so my first day (sunday, august 31st) i had screen flickering, like going blank for half a second or few seconds, and then coming back on. I did fresh vista install and installed new drivers, and seemed like it solved the problem. Now almost two weeks after, i have a same problem. I definitely want to return (14 days still didnt past), but what if i go there, and geek squad gonna test it and problem wont occur? Because its so random. Would they exchange for new one? Like right now while i am typing this message it keeps flickering sometimes, but if i'll go there and they dont see this flickering would they give me new one?

I don't see why not. Just tell them the monitor likes to mess up after a few hours or something. I seriously doubt BB is going to sit there and watch the monitor for a few hours before they believe you.

If you get the plan, you can get a free new battery if the other one starts getting crappy on you. Batteries supposedly only last a year and a half or so.

This may be one time when buying the "plan" would have been a good idea. Time will tell.
