Sooo Who's running Windows 7?

I found that all buttons work except the media center's one and the music one which i don't know where to use it.

 

I hit the Music or DVD ones and get the Media Center, not that is what I wanted but what I get..............

 

Do you know how to config the media center music and dvd buttons so I can make them to open the media center?

 

you should have three devices as "Direct Application Launch Button"

I think Found it, it is from gateway but I hosted it for ease of access. This doesn't list our model but the reg entries are correct in "Media.reg"..............

I have windows 7 installed. everything is working fine. many vista drivers work with win 7 so it makes things easier.
Speedwise its faster then both vista and even xp. I havent played any games on it so not sure if any speedup there

 

Why did it have to end so coon. I should have ordered earlier, but my dam debit card was on the fritz so i had to wait to ask my parents for theirs. Now the deals gone and i have to pay full price.

Guess I'll wait before the RC expires before i get the full version, and hope they drop the price.

 

I cant find the wallpaper files, where are they?

 

I don't know...Look at shared pictures or in sample pictures or in windows files where the other wallpapers are (C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper)

Can anyone reccoomend me a good driver, my computer screen keeps FLICKERING and locking up

 

if you have an nvidia gpu they have a windows 7 laptop driver available at thier website already. Have you tried that.

 

Go to desktop, right click, personalize, click desktop background at bottom, right click a picture, click properties, that'll show you where they are.

Sorry everyone this one is out topic for a bit.

I'm about to buy a P-7805u but the seller said that it doesn't come with any CD/Disc. I thought It came with OEM vista CD? or it's means that Vista came pre-installed?

 

Don't all notebooks you buy at bestbuy have vista preinstalled?

 

And bestbuy don't give us any vista disc?

btw I'm buying from ebay not bestbuy.

 

no it does not come with a vista disc because when purchased all recovery files and such are on a hidden partition on the hdd. so no disc included but you can create recovery discs using a preinstalled software on the laptop. personally though if you get any vista disc for your comps version and install it using your key you should be fine. you may have to call microsoft in order to activate but its no big deal anyway as they try to make it as painless as possible. when they ask why your reinstalling just tell em you got a virus and need to reinstall. (which isnt lying by the way cause with all the bloatware it might as well be a virus )

i bought mine at bestbuy and paid a heck of alot more then you are going to lol but i got it awhile ago. my advise to you though is to get him to either give you the serial numbers and call gateway to make sure its not stolen or get him to confirm it for you by gateway. you may not think so but sometimes they sell stolen laptops on ebay and you get screwed because even if you didnt know its still illegal to be in possession of stolen goods

 

Already tried and all the drivers make my screen flicker and lockup on movies/games. I unistalled one already and Win7 auto installed a driver for me.. 186.03 idk.. its not flickering anymore but my FPS is GARBAGE compared to what I had before when I used Vista.

 

try giving driver version 190.15 a shot it works great for me. youll need to replacce the inf with a modded inf in order to support your vid card because the driver is a quadro driver which are known for stability and functionality. you can get everything you need from laptopvideo2go.com

Have you tried the Vista Driver? When i originally did just an "upgrade" to Win7 everything i had worked fine. Since i got my SSD and did a clean install i havent actually installed alot of the drivers because i dont use them, but Win7 installed a web cam driver for me (so i assume it works even though i havent actually tried it yet)

What computer do you have?

 

Just installed Windows 7 on my 6860FX and i got FPS increases across the board on all my games. The game that got the highest increase was section 8 which runs very very smooth now at max settings.

My system is a lot faster and very responsive. I am never going back to Vista. Once 7 Comes out I am definitely buying it.

I have a P7805u modified with a cpu x9100 dual core extreme and graphic card its a nvidia 9800gts

I tried all the beta versions of windows 7 and in the last that exit I got problems with nvidia drivers or with the operating system I dont know yet.

I already install all the recent games and only one makes me troubles that dont make in any other version, Warcraft 3 TFT.

The game start well but sometimes it breaks.. and sometimes it breaks completely that I need to restart the computer. I already check and the windows found a problem with the nvidia driver.

I try everything, compatibility problems in the executer and nothing works... Sugestions? Already try the 186.03 (last from nvidia for notebooks) and crack the 190.xx and the result is the same..

Because that game is important for me I back momently to vista x64 which is worse!

Any idea?

 

kk Jdcchora, try running Windows 7 update and allow it to install all the updates it needs, excluding the language packs. It is very important that you update Windows 7 whenever the chance arises. It may already be "released" but nVidia and Microsoft are still constantly fixed some minor and major problems that the OS has and it should all be weeded out when the OS is release in 10/22.


Keep updating 7 and make sure you have nVidia 190.56 installed from Lv2Go and DO NOT OVERCLOCK at all and install all Windows 7 updates.

And if you already have 190.56 installed, re install using the method described in the nVidia driver upgrade thread. Use the have disk method or just run the setup file, either way it will install.

Nice, my problem was with Section 8 driver crash issue but it has been fixed now after i updated Windows 7. No more Driver crashes. Though if the problem returns i will be sure to use the method u all used for section 8 instead. Thank you all. Now im off to play section 8. XD

 

For some reason when i started up today there was some File check on my C: drive. Is that normal?

So i have another question then.

Do you think its running well enough to be the OS on a netbook like this? I was wondering because MS is making the windows lite version for netbooks andi was just curious if you thought it was needed or it was going to be a useless version of Win7 like Vista basic is

 

It runs awesome. The "Starter" version is for systems that can not run Aero. This particular system runs Aero fine and so should future netbooks with either the Intel 4500 and especially the Ion video chipsets.

They really need a new sub/super class class of the systems. Keep the older system types classed as "Netbook" and say a new class of "Netbook Plus", "SuperBook", "UltraBook" or something of the like.............

 

Anyone have/had issue with external hard drive(2.5") in windows 7?
bought Formac 500gb and it works fine on windows 2003,
I've installed win7 RTM version and checked before/after installed gateway drivers and still same hdd offline, partition not initialized partition RAW lol.
same on Vista on other laptops its working fine grr

or External HDD worked with single cable usb to mini usb as Y cable(2x usb vs mini usb sux) but on single cable its slow I sold mine already...

 

anyone got a windows 7 driver for 6831. Initially it was working, but wasn't working after the computer was sleep mode. tried to fix it. downloaded new driver something screwed up even worse. uninstalled the driver now i go no sound. I tried everything.

 

I did the upgrade from Vista Home Premium 64 to Win7 Home Premium 64. So far no issues.

Me 2. I upgraded from vista ultimate x64. 7 is much faster. Much more reliable, flexible. Manages memory far better. It is great. No more vista.
