To show that you can replace them with glowkeys.

If its fading so soon and you have no warrenty then this is about the only kind of option you have. Though you "should" be able to speak to gateway about getting a new keyboard. Keys shouldnt fade after 3 months. I still have an 8 year old keyboard and the keys are still clearly readable.

Gee, I dunno...maybe with the overlays mentioned on that site you can replace your "fading" keys with these that are actually better?

I have a similar laptop that I've owned for 9 months.I've gotten 2 keyboard replacements from gateway so far. The first one was because one of the keys fell off, the second one was because I accidentally sharpied some keys.

Just do live chat and tell them your keyboard keys are chipping and they'll send you one right away. Don't call, it takes longer and normally they ask far more questions and you have less chance of getting the issue resolved.

    Um, clear nail polish?

Geez - I've been doing that on my lappies for YEARS!
    I have a 1997-8 or so Dell Latitude CP-Ir, like a PII-266,keys are clear as a bell!

Heh - I ain't rich, so sometimes I'm forced to think outside the box.

Those with moist hands seem to have most of the problems.

It would...just as any other high resistant clear acrylic would. Nail polish just happens to be easier to apply.

Yeah that would be the best way to go about it. I don't do it because the callous' on my hands from doing manual labor through out life has luckily made it where my hands don't sweat alot.

But i do paint miniatures and it should be just as easy as putting a thin coat over the keys and letting it sit for 10-20 minutes for it to dry. With nail polish you will probably have to re-coat it every month or two though if you have especially sweaty hands or you use certain keys (wasd) alot more than the others

Gateway sent out a replacement keyboard to me without any problem

( i took the advice from one of the above posters and did the CHAT ONLINE and it was very easy and quick )

my only question is now . how do i install it ... i dont see any exposed screws or tabs .. not even the little rubber screw hide things that some laptops have ..

chat with gateway again ask for a pdf instructing how to take basic things apart.
they should have it, or you cansearch the site your self.

actually it might be on your hdd c:\documents....
