I can't seem to get my hibernate back since I installed new drivers. Even with the new official Nvidia drivers I still don't have hibernate! During sleep mode my generally stay on so I need my hibernate back!

hello, installing nvidia 179 now. but kinda confused at the first step. when i go to add/remove nvidia drivers, a 2nd window pops up with different options. 1) remove all nvidia drivers including display. 2)remove all except display 3)remove the following only- a. nvidia display b. nividia high definition audio.

so do i remove the nvidia high def audio or not. is it included in the latest notebook drivers?

thnks. after extracting the 179 file, seems like there's 2 folders. 1 for nvidia high def. and 1 for display driver. so i guess i won't mess around with the high def. at all.

What do you mean by "best"?

Fastest in synthetic benchmarks, fastest in real games, best quality in real games etc etc.

Try different drivers out for yourself and see.

Surely you don't need to worry about FPS in CSS and Warcraft?

In those games you are looking for quality mostly.

Try Dox's Customised and install on the balanced setting.

In the games you mention any driver SHOULD run them at well over 30fps. if you liked the original drivers then use them...

the official Nvidia notebook drivers are guite good for GTA 4. Picture quality is good even with reduced image settings. I played with 1280x1024 and Medium/Medium. And other sliders cut down. I get around 30fps when running around and 20-24FPS when driving a car, it seems low but it's smooth somehow. I recomend it.

Forceware v185.20 are loose. Initial reports are lower temps, but slightly lower fps too.

I'm also a beta tester for Dox now so I'll let you all know about his latest drivers when I get them. He's incorporating nVidia's settings from the official Notebook Drivers into his own. Should be good.

I'm a complete noob for this sorta stuff...I tried CoD 4 out with the original drivers and I didn't totally like it, the lighting was meh..and the detailing wasn't the greatest on everything high. So any suggestions if I am going to play CoD 4 and Fallout 3?(Mostly Fallout though :p)

Just a warning some features are broken in 185.20 as they have been released a bit before their time supposedly. Stick to Dox, XFastest or nVidia GeForce for Notebooks for now.

Zak have you tried a different version yet?

I'm using X-Fastest 180.70, no problems so far, my games seem to run a little smoother even (coming from a complete reformat, I was using 179.85 or something around there previously).

I've found the xfastest 177.85 to be the most stable for my 6860fx. Anytime I use a driver that is 18x.xx, my video card will refuse to overclock more than about 5hz using the nvidia performance tools.

I forgot a key detail. My problems with overclocking only happen when I am running Windows XP. When I run Vista64 I never have a problem with overclocking no matter what driver I use.

Yea, I'm pretty sure it is probably card specific. Both my brother and I have 6860fx and whenever we go over the 180 drivers we lose the ability to overclock. On vista overclocking using dox 18x.xx works perfectly fine. It just seems to be a series of wierd bugs that lead to a lack of stable overclocking. Our laptops might have just been in a bad shipment.

Yeah the Gateway FX 17 Laptop chasis is the best. IDK if it is just me but the heatsink on my laptop is AWESOME. It keeps the laptop cool even when OCing. I get no diffrence in heat. It just runs really smoother and the temps stay the same.

Just had to add that in because i not able to sympathize with those ppl the have Overheating FX's.

You used to have to press F6 in all versions of Windows up until Vista to install your own SCSI/RAID/SATA drivers at time of setup. You now do it on the Vista drive selection screen but manufacturers (including Intel) still call them F6 drivers.

Yeah a few other people have mentioned problems with the modified inf's and the 7805. The GPU must have a slightly different hardware ID and Pieter hasn't updated his master inf yet.

Try the official nVidia Notebook drivers instead:
