I can't speak to 180.70, but I have not had the problem with 178.24. However, one of my profiles did dissappear. So check that path to see if the nvsutil profile is still there. Perhaps you need to recreate a profile with base settings and save it as nvsutil.nsu
-
It's still broken. I tried reinstalling the program and deleting both files too.
-
did you uninstall ntune first? Oddly, I don't find a ncsutil.nsu file on my system. I did find the profiles I created as well as one called sysdflt.. The files were in C:\<username>\AppData\Local\NVidia Corperation\nTune\Profiles
-
I uninstalled nTune and when I uninstalled nVidia system tools I went to "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\NVIDIA Corporation\nTune\Profiles" and deleted them. I checked again and the default sysdflt.nsu and userdflt.nsu were in there. I tried to open those but it didn't work either.

Try useing Driver Cleaner Pro to clean up the random nvidia drivers that are left behind.

Dox's Custom 180.70 just out.
-
Anyone tried out Dox's 180.70 yet on the P-6860FX/P-6861FX??
Any problems? Any improvements? -
-
(I don't want to keep trying out new drivers but this one seems good)
-
ok, ran some 3dmark, seems to be on par with the stock 180.70. i'll game some later on and will post back again
-

Dox doesn't strive for uber 3DMark speeds:

I got the nVidia System Tools to work. But for some reason I can't raise voltages anymore with CrystalCPUID so I can't overclock a little higher. Used to work before, strangely. But I guess I have to fix that myself. I'm currently comparing Dox's 180.70 and 179.14. It's hard for me to overclock on a modified driver since heat will be higher than usual.
Do you guys recommend Dox's 180.70?

I'm having a problem with both the xfastest 180.70 and dox's 180.70 on my 7811. For now, I'll guess I'll just stick with xfastest 177.85. With those drivers, I'm getting ~45 fps in Mass Effect @ 1920x1200, ultra high textures, high effects, point filtering and ~85 fps in GTA San Andreas @ 1920x1200, max draw distance, 1x anti-aliasing, and very high textures. These new drivers give me similar fps in Mass Effect (maybe about 1 fps more), but kill my fps in San Andreas (to somewhere around 42 fps). Are xfastest's 177.85 drivers that highly optimized, or is something else going on?
-
Dox's drivers won't improve your FPS, and actually get about 100 less in 3dmark. The reason is he doesn't strive for higher performance, he customizes the drivers to be more lightweight, and to have a better quality/performance ratio
-
Jakamo read five posts up
-
A decrease of ~40 fps in games like San Andreas and Audiosurf is much more significant than what Dox is talking about. Like I was saying, fps is unaffected in newer games like ME and Fallout 3, so something strange is going on. I just want to know if this is happening to anyone else.

I'm currently driver less. I downloaded the newest drivers for Vists 32bit posted here, and followed all of the posted steps. However- When I select the nv_disp.inf file from the folder on my desktop TWO "NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS" appear in the list. Choosing either of them leads to the same result --> Driver installation fails. I've tried the modded .inf and non-modded inf. Both give the two driver options. Anyone know why I'm having so much trouble or where I can get my drivers back...Thanks
-
It could be that the driver you are downloading has a different named inf included (nvas.inf or similar). If this is the case you need to delete it so that only your modified inf is present. BTW have you tried Dox's 180.70 as the modified inf is pre-packaged?

New PhysX System Software and Graphics Plus™ Power Pack #2:
Nvidia releases its Geforce Powerpack which includes demos and levels for games that take advantage of PhysX.
They released two new levels for Warmonger. new physx demos, a physx screensaver and a new PhysX driver 8.10.29 amongsts other things.
Please note a Geforce 8 series gpu with a minimum of 256 mb (or higher) is required to use PhysX. -
New driver for GTA IV is out (180.84) - just waiting for modified inf.
Rumoured to give an extra 10fps in GTA IV. -
here they are unmodified that is
-
if you really cant wait here is a 2 lines you can add for 8800m gts support :
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = nv_G9x_HD, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609&SUBSYS_0690107B
NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS"
you will need to add them in the right placce though.
just hit ctrl+f and type dev_606, paste the first line between that and the 610_dev line
do it again with the second line
thats it.
or you can use the nVidia Mobility Modder tool to do it for you. -
Is this recommended for those of us who don't play GTA, will it do anything for us or should we just ignore it
-
180.84 is now modified over at LV2Go.

And a new 180.84 Test Release by Dox. Links updated.

USING THE 180.77
I wonder since I have the 9800M GTS with 1024MB Ram which is better to select? Is the reason there are 2 for the 9800M GTS because there is a 512MB and 1024MB Version
NVIDIA_G94.DEV_0628.1 = "NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800M GTS"
OR
NVIDIA_G94.DEV_062C.1 = "NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800M GTS" -
Anyone know the difference between Xfastest 180.70 vs Dox's 180.70 with stock P-6860FX??
-
I'm pretty sure that Xfastest strives for high framerates, while Dox tries to get best quality to performance ratio
-
Dox goes for quality and highest Min FPS... go check out the threads

guys can u help me out here. last few years I've just been d'loading the desktop card driver's from nvidia's site and installing those. Like for the 6800ultra go, i would just pick the closest thing e.g 6800ultra during setup. i tried the modded inf. drivers but they gave me bad IQ and/or more heat, low fps. its worked for the past 4 years, so u think its ok to just keep doing that ?
-
Dox's 180.84 finals are out. 64-bit support now too
-
-
Depends on your definition of better. As has been stated many times Dox has in the past strived for the highest minimum FPS whilst keeping a decent picture quality. He now offers a pure maximum performance option also.
Try them and see. -
Just switched to XFastest Forceware 180.70 !!
Man i'm so glad! it solved my downclocking probs!!
Will try DOX's too nd see the difference!! -
Any major difference from 180.70 going to 180.84 for Dox's Optimised Drivers?

Anyone check out the new Nvidia released mobile drivers yet?
-
the 179.28 betas? Hmm..wonder why they're doing Beta drivers as a supported release.
-
Updated Intel Chipset drivers and added nVidia GeForce for Notebooks drivers.
-
wat's the difference between forceware and geforce?
-
GeForce for Notebooks are the first official release of notebook drivers to come directly from nVidia.
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4742 -
forceware are for nvidia based chipset mother boards, nothing to do with GPU's. Tey would not work only any laptop, as all laptops use the intel chipset
-
Sorry flynnaz but that aint right. Forceware is the name of nVidia's desktop GPU drivers.
