hey iaTa, thanks for putting this thread up! But just out of curiosity, which version are you currently using for your GPU? I just got my laptop today and I don't know which version I should use. What other drivers do i need to upgrade? (BIOS, SoundCard, and etc)? Thanks again iaTa!

-
I'm using 181.72 on Win7 as anything higher than that causes problems.
-
what is this driver upgrade? i know dumb question but i'm newb to this
I have a m-6862, would are the benefits if i upgrade driver is it hardware of software. I assume its hardware.. -
Any one have a suggestion on what driver is best for gaming?
-
-
v186.08 are out.
-
I'm running 185.85 on Win7 64 without any issues so far actually. Been doing all kinds of stuff like gaming and graphical work, 3d rendering/animation. Not one error. And my FPS went up quite a lot from the stock Dell drivers i was running
-
crap its been months since i last updated my drivers.anways, im planning on updating to DOX's 185.85 driver, do i still need to download the appropriate inf for the said driver?
if yes, can u guys five me a link.cant find the search button on LV2G.thanks in advance.
thanks again to iata for such a great job on these.
OT: also, on the LV2G page, theres only one link for a 64 bit OS to download from. does this include vista and win7 in it? cause im using vista. -
Hey Iata,
First of all, great job to you for helping out countless number of less savvy users out there, including myself. However, I have a big favor to ask of you. I am sure by now you have heard many cases of the Gateway 7811 FX having many Blue Screens of death. Unfortunately I am another case of it but it seems wherever I look, all they needed to do was update a few drivers and they are fine. I have updated the intel chipset and intel wifi (which some people think are the ones that cause it) I have also updated the video card one, but it still blue screens on me very often. I have had this laptop for around 7 months now, I have sent it to gateway to get it fixed THREE times and they did not do anything useful to it. I am desperate and would appreciate it very much if you could help me.
Many thanks in advance. -
When does it blue screen exactly? It does sound as though it's a hardware issue as Gateway usually put a fresh image on when it goes in for repair. If that's the case you should have been running stock drivers on 3 occasions.
Gateway repair are pretty bad at their job too. I've sent laptops in only for them to come out with worse faults.
mokylim: No you don't need a modified inf with Dox drivers. Also Vista and Win7 infs have now been combined. -
It happens mostly when I play games (DotA), but yesterday it blue screened when I left it on through the night.
-
Have you tried a fresh install of Vista or Windows 7?
-
I have used that CD that they give you for reinstalling your OS. Are they the same thing?
Here is one case where he said
"the unit i bought from queens center bestbuy
had bsod-blue screen of death, restarts every 15-30 mins. ran prime95 on it, all passed.
didnt ship with correct drivers or applications. So i installed vista x64 on my own hd, and installed intel wifi & nvidia graphics driver only,
and now its problem free. He then updated his reply saying ok, the faulty driver is intel chipset driver that caued p7811 to restart every 30 mins. any question u can go to notebookreview.com forum"
What do you think I should do next? I am willing to try anything at this point. -
Yes that's the same thing.
Try installing a recent build of Windows 7. It's a great OS and very near final code. Every build has run perfectly on my 6831, 6860, 7811 and 7805u. -
v186.03 WHQL are out.
-
Woah that was quick reporting
v186.08 were crap for me so I would guess these are too. Will try them out though. -
Right so this is what I did between my last post and now,
1. Reinstalled my OS using the gateway CD
2. Downloaded the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility Version 9.1.1.1011 WHQL. Extracted it to a folder and then double clicked the "Setup" file. Then rebooted.
3. Followed your guide on how to update the video card and got the v186.08 for Vista x64.
4. Downloaded the Intel PRO/WiFi Version 12.4.0.21. Extracted it to a folder and went to vista --> Vista --> v64 --> Install --> double clicked the "Setup" file. Then rebooted.
5. Download the P-7800_AUDIO_CONEXANT_8.7.0.1007_64BIT.zip - Conexant Audio Driver Version: 4.57.0.50 from the Gateway website. Extracted it to a folder. Then double clicked the "Setup64" file. Then Rebooted.
6. Downloaded the P-7800_NETWORK_MARVELL_10.60.6.3.zip - Marvell LAN Driver Version: 10.60.6.3 from the gateway website. Extracted it to a folder. Then went to IYMW02WW --> Installer --> small --> then double clicked the setup_v10[1].60.6.3 file.
7. Downloaded Opera, Spotify, Garena, played some games for a while and then it blue screened again.
So did I update the drivers in the correct order or am I downloading the wrong ones or does this mean its a hardware problem?
Many thanks in advance. -
Hardware problem. Check your RAM first.
-
Hi, I have a couple of questions.
1) I am using stock drivers, how can I check what version I am using?
2) Can I roll back to stock without the recovery CD? -
1) download the GPU-z program from here http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
(shows different kins of information about your videocard)
2)You dont need to install anything, just on My Computer icon on desktop (or in Control Panel click on System icon) make right mouse click and choose Propertis (first from below), then find Device Manager menu, and click it. Then a list of hardware will be displayed. Choose Display Adapter, then there should be a videocard listed. On that card make a right mouse click and choose Properties again. There is Driver menu, and also you find info about driver version and you can roll back any driver installation to videocard also from that menu. -

hey iata, any updated driver for IDT on my 6860.cant find a recent one on gateway.tnx!
-
The new laptop official drivers 186.03 suck. No Control Panel, no nothing to change settings (using win 7). Mark 06 score was only 86xx with OC'ed video in P7811fx, i can remember that i could get same score with no OC. And when i started to play games, the driver didnt upscale the image. But left black stripes to the screen edge :S Maybe it was just me, but that driver didnt seem right from the getgo... how those drivers can be officials, i have seen betas that are 100 times better than this
Going back to earlier releases.

thats funny because everything you said the driver is missing works fine on my laptop and im running windows 7 x64 too. are you sure you installed them correctly? i have a control panel physx and 3d stereo driver on top of a new hdmi audio driver. i can change everything from digital vibrance to the scaling method the screen uses.

Home Win 7 RC x64. -
So I ran MemTest through the night, divided it into two 1636 MB searches and it got to 1075% without any error. What should I do next?
-
The new drivers are decent 9333 3dmark on my p7805
-
I downloaded the 186.03 WHQL and they perform better than the 186.06 which gave me some graphical errors in some of my games. My games seem to run cooler now as well, I don't know if it's all because of these drivers or because of the new paging file setting which I am using now as well.
-
I have not read all the posts but 186.03 from nVidia site will not install on my Vista64. The crazy error is first "you are running a 32 bit uninstall" then "you are not using a 64bit OS" Make up your mind already!
Wacky?
The one from here works fine.

I like 186.03 pretty well. I cant seem to push my card quite as high, but its VERY stable and runs amazing.
-
I still get screen corruption in games with v186.03.
-
+rep to iaTa.
Just used your links for non video driver updates and things perked up noticeably. Thanks for the great thread! -
186.03 doesn't support my card, and sadly it's only for Vista/Win7. I don't want to try 186.08 because I'm hearing bad things about it too.
-
FINALLY!!! Nvidia has released their new System Tools 6.05 for monitoring and OC'ing the Nvidia videocards
Should have better Win 7 support.

Thanks, link updated.
-
186.03, what is the stable overclock for this driver? I keep crashing at 3dmark at 710/950/1750
-
OT: i can't find Official P7811-fx drivers thread? Can somebody direct me to it.
-
You can get the latest versions of most drivers in the first post.
-
Since my 186.03 driver install I have to reset my resolution after every boot. Any clue what is causing this?
-
185 and 186 series drivers have serious issues. I would recommend dropping back to 182 or 181 series.
-
Forceware v190.15 is out.
-
I am using that driver with 0 issues since release so guess it is random stuff people are experiencing. -
Latest chipset software: Version 9.1.1.1014 WHQL http://www.station-drivers.com/telechargement/intel/chipset/intel_inf_9.1.1.1014(www.station-drivers.com).exe

Anyone have problems with 186.21 vista x64? I lost the graphical glitches that were in 186.18, but now the Control Panel is gone and after uninstalling and reinstalling half a dozen times I am growing tired of trying to get it to install.
-
quick question, what is "P-68xx/17xx FX: Silicon Image SiI 3531 v1.5.19.1" ?
