I liked the fact the it has multi USB ports since it uses 1 for power. A big plus was it does have an on/off switch so you dont have to constantly disconnect the usb when you dont really need the extra cooling.

That actually looks like it would be cool and possibly work.
Anyone give this a shot or plan to soon?

Pulling away from the laptop vents might be working against the built in cooling of the P-7805u.

"The Royal is made of 100% aluminum for maximum heatsink style cooling, and sports a smart, 8 cm silent fan that pulls exhaust air away from your laptop instead of pushing outside air into it, thus eliminating a significant amount of dirt and dust contamination and helping to prolong the life (and health) of your notebook." I presume it would likely do better with the pushing air IN instead of OUT.
Such as with the um Aerolus, NC-2000, and NZXT?

That would be my guess. Pushing air into those vents on the bottom of laptop (like a mild supercharger) would logically seem better. I am no air flow expert. If pushing air in is the way to go then the fan(s) need to push a steady flow of air through all of the vent on the bottom of the p-7805u to keep all the parts happy. If the NC-2000 actually creates a steady cushion of air beneath the laptop, then that may be the way to go. I know that I didn't get the consistent performance that I expected out of the Cooler-Master.

well now that i have my 7801 finally (and boy im ing impressed) i tested the cooling with the zalman.

this is what i got and i was surprised.

After playing crysis for about an hour i tab over to hwmonitor and saw a max of 25C for the cpu and a max 53C on the gpu.

im going to guess and say for playing crysis at all high settings that these temps aer great?!?!?

    anyone else?

Thanks for the stats. Do you have your Zalman turned around 180 with the back to the front like some others are doing? (so the holes line up with the back vents)

Every computer will be different. To really compare the coolers you must test them all on the same computer. When someone did this with a nc2000 and a nzxt, the nc2000 was cooler. To test the G4TZ, it would be best to compare it with a nc2000.

So far with the GT4Z, I don't see any difference between the fans running and the fans off. And the four fans (which are not very powerful) have a whine that developed after about 2 hours of use. Somewhat irritating, but I used to work in mainframe computer rooms where huge banks of large disk packs spun noisily, so I can tolerate it. Still the fans need to be larger as they don't cover all the vents well. If I get the GPU over a fan, the CPU vent is only partially over the fan. And the disk vents don't really get any fan air, except what might creep between the left lower fan and the vent.

I will try and get some stats with Rail Simulator, which raises temps a lot when run. RailSim won't reinstall for some reason.

Let's think Zalman vs NZXT some more.

    I love my Zalman NC2000.

Saw a core temp low of 16c yesterday

P7801u has been on for 2 hours and temps are stable at: TZS 34c Cores 21c GPU 45c.

My NC2000 is turned backwards and the back is lifted up to further help cooling.

I read that the zalman works by bringing much more cold air to the laptop vents and fans.

    hmm..

Here are some temps for the Titan TTC-G4TZ while running Rail Simulator for 20 minutes after a cool down between each test. With no fan, fan blowing upward, and fan drawing downward (away from bottom of laptop) and idle with no fan. Sorry for the thumbnails. I don't know how to get the pics in otherwise. I've seen posts where the pics are imbedded in the with the text. A how-to on that would be appreciated.

Well with that cooler blowing upward is obviously the best choice, however it still isn't lowering temps very much..

Not acceptable for the P-7805u. Might be good with more powerful fans, but the fans don't look upgradable. They appear to be custom made by Titan. Not something I could buy at Fry's. Maybe I could take a better fan out of it's frame and replace in this cooler. This is a pic from their repair manual. Click on thumbnail.

If you want to make it more efficient and dont plan on returning it, cut out the stupid metal spiderweb design that goes over the fans.

I do need to open up those fans to the bottom of the laptop. I won't send it back, this is one to experiment with. Maybe pop off the aluminum sheet on each side and replace with aluminum mesh with large holes.

Right now I've got the laptop sitting on top with the cooler at minimum width and the GPU and CPU vents hanging off of the edge. The CPU cores stay around 28, but the GPU still runs up to 48 and cranks its fan up.

Too many people are swearing by their Cryo or their Zalman and claiming good results. Well there we have it until the miracle cooler appears. It sure wasn't the Titan nor the Cooler Master. At least for me.

It's too bad the Titan TTC-G4TZ doesn't perform as well as we would hope for our Godzilla machines. I liked the price much better than the competition.

Thanks for the info Penrod. You are a scholar and a gentleman. :GEEK:

My GPU gets up to 181F or 82C playing games, is that normal not using any kind of cooling pad and just placed on a table.

Seems this thread stopped before a clear answer was given. :D

Thought I'd bring it back. I just ordered the NZXT Cryo LX. It will be here early next week, as will my 7805u. I will post results as soon as I test everything out.

Merely lifting the 7805u 2 inches (quarters under the 4 rubber feet) droppend my cpu's/gpu/HD 10 degrees...to date the cpu's wont gop over 49 degrees and the gpu 73 degrees. Read my post

Coolers are NOT necessary...room temp and lifting the laptop are what matters most

What is this are we living in the 60's? Looks like there is not one manufacturer out there which can produce a good cooling pad with decent performance. For me personally I dont mind the sound ....I want my notebook to be cool. I recently purchased a Cryo LX from Amazon and trust me it does nothing. Even though it comes with an adapter it hardly makes any difference. I think the major problem with the laptop coolers is the 5v limited USB power supply which limits the fan speed. I was about to return the Cryo but I read somewhere that the Cryo stock fans can take upto 12v at 2000mah and someone mentioned that they got significant performance improvement.

I am going to order one of those 6-12v adapters and test it myself and then post the results here...for now I am using a big tower fan installed directly behind my p7805u and cryo beneath. I am getting somewhere around 37-43 gpu idle, and 55-75 gpu in gaming..on stock fan my Gpu was idling at 45-48 so I consider this a huge improvement. Untill I find a solution I guess I will have to live with this

I point an electric fan to my XPS's vents. Decreases temps by at least 10 degrees C. Does that count? :D

I know I don't even have my 7805u yet (waiting for the my replacement for my defunct refurb), but I went ahead and ordered the Zalman NC2000 Cooler from amazon.com for $67. I'll let everyone know how it is once everything is in order.

Ive been using my p-7805u for a while now and I need a answer too, acording to all negative towards the Cryo in this thread, Ill think I can take it out of the picture and now its between the NC2000 and the Enermax Aeolus.

Dougnut get the Cryo LX. I tood the plunge and bought it. And it lowered my temps from 77C on Load to 62C on the GPU.

It is very sturdy and looks great. But it from Amazon that's where i got and i love it so far.

It was between the Enermax Aeolus, NC2000 and Cryo and I just eliminated the cryo due high noise and not to good performance according too lots of ppl telling here, now I have to think about my choice again lol =) Thanks for the heads up. Keep in posting folks!

I was cautious as well. But the reviews are mixed. And the amazon review were very good.

So i decided to take the plunge and bought the cooler and i was amazed.

yesterday while playing CoD4 i don't think my GPU went over 59C on load after playing countless rounds. The cooler looks good and has a nice heatsink effect.

And about the sound of the fans. It is not loud enough to be heard while playing CoD4 at max volume using my laptop speakers.

And even when I''m not playing i don't hear them because i constantly have music playing on my 6860FX anyways.

I say definitely buy it i highly recommend it. I usually don't go through the trouble of posting up recommendations for products i buy but...the Cryo LX is just that good.

This pretty much sums it up. Though i do think i get slightly better results than he does :).

Yeah btw, Ive seen that video, it made me wanna go for the Cryo in the first place =)

I played Bionic Commando this weeking and my GPU temperature reached 97ºC and I'm thinking about buying a cooler.
I have a P-7807U FX which is pretty much the same and I'd like to know if anyone has heard of the akasa model AK-NBCH-02/AK-NBC-02.
They're the same except that the NBCH model comes with a usb hub.

Keep using that. It does better at cooling than these brand name laptop coolers I've tried. NZXT Cryo LX, Cooler Master Notepal Infinite, G4 Titan Magic Pad, and the Enermax Aeolus Cp001. None of them got the temperature reduction that your electric fan gets. All went back to sellers except the G4 Titan Magic Pad. It makes a few degrees difference and it is thin, lightweight, collapsible and fits nicely in a back pack or a notebook case.

I just got the NC3000 today and will check temps. I get 3 USB ports on back of the Zalman, but it takes away 1 port from the laptop. 3 for 1, such a deal. I have the AC Adapter. The big fan is quiet. The ergonomics are comfortable.
