Someone should test if you can get stable OC with lowered voltage. Like 0.95-0.98 and these clocks 710\950\1850 .If its possible, i would personally do it too then.

I saw a guy on this forum with these clocks and voltage 1.04.
In my opinion if you UV to 0,95 your system will crash. I had 700/900/1750 and system crashed at 0,9V

Besides a good method is to set voltage for example to 0,9 and change the clocks using software under windows. if you set too high the system will crash or hang.

I have P-7803H model and used Nitibor 5.2 to open up extracted bios, however there are only 2 voltages to choose from, 1.12v and 0.9v
All other options are grey out is there any way to add extra voltage? Thanks.

click tools then voltage table editor. you might have to click the tabs around so that it refreshes and you can see your new values under the tab 'voltages'. this guide really helped with my temps... i was afraid to overclock before undervolting because of my high temps, but now i've got a .92v running at 700/950/1720

Is there a definitive answer if this works on the 7811fx? I'm very suddenly having terrible GPU heat problems so I'm looking for anything.

Instead of using a floppy could I make a bootable CD? I have tons just laying around uselessly and wouldn't mind spending one even for such a small file.

I'm having some artifacts when I watch blueray movies from my HD. Is this due to the voltage on the regular setting or the "extra" setting? I raised both by .01 and it seemed to help a bit. Also, would this affect flash playback as well?

HD playback has very little to do with gpu power/voltage/clocks. Its all a matter of the video player/codec you use. VLC tends to have relatively poor hd playback quality in comparison to MPlayer or Media Player Classic bundled with K-Lite Codec Pack.

But I STRONGLY recommend getting CoreAVC for any sort of HD playback. On netbooks or older computers when HD playback is almost impossible, their efficient algorithms make miracles happen with HD movies (I got smooth 1080p playback on a 1.7ghz Pentium M). If you can torrent it, great, otherwise I strongly suggest buying it and supporting the software developers there.

Sometimes it is difficult to remember about obvious things.
Yesterday I played DOOM3. When not using AA i reached about 62 65C in highest details and highest res - 1600/1200 Ultra settings.
When I turned AA on and set 16AA the temps jumped to over 70-74.
I usually dont use AA because I dont give a damn if edges are soft or not.

I FINALLY found my own solution after alot of googling.

As some of us with the P7811FX, maybe others too, EEPROM isnt regonized, so Nvflash doesnt work. Neither to copy or write to BIOS. So we cant flash the VGA BIOS alone.

Instead the solution I found was to flash the entire BIOS and just modify the VGA BIOS file before(thats included in the entire BIOS file).

First get a hold of the BIOS you want to edit, I used version 9C.10.00, might fix 9C.17.00 someday, but for now Im using 9C.10.00 version. You will need the BIOS´s .ROM file.

Then you get a hold of Phoenix BIOS Editor, which I found on rapidshare.

After you insta0ll PBE (Phoenix BIOS Editor), open the .ROM file with it and look to the left, you should see a folder thats called "Option ROM", which contains oprom0.rom and oprom1.rom and others alike. Btw, when you open the BIOS, if you receive any errors, abort immediately! But dont confuse errors with alerts, which I get 3 of for example and doesnt effect what we're going to do as far as I know.

One of these opromX.rom are the NVIDIA VGA BIOS that we're looking for. If you select one of the opromX.rom, you should see a text appear in the lower center with describes if its NVIDIA VGA BIOS or not.

When you found which opromX.rom is the correct one, tab to the installed director of PBE and find the TEMP-folder. In the TEMP-folder you should find the opromX.rom file, copy this to another location. You can close PBE for now.

The newly copied opromX.rom should be able to open with NiBiTor. FYI, Im using the latest version of NiBiTor, version 5.88. Now you can edit the voltage etc as you wish for your VGA BIOS as mentioned in previous posts.

When your're done with that, save the file with the same name as before, opromX.rom and then open PBE again. Located the old opromX.rom file under Option ROM folder and remove it and then add the newly modifed version you edited in NiBiTor. Now save the BIOS file and now its ready to flash.

Go ahead and flash it as you would in DOS with USB memory stick or whatever.

Any questions or files needed? Just ask and I will try to upload them for you asap.

Btw, I lowered my Voltage from 1.11V to 1.00V. Havent had the change to test it out yet, see if any improvements or if I can go lower again, but I was now able to run 3Dmark06 again. Which I wasnt with 0.9V

I tried the phenix Editor with both the 9C.10.00 and 9C.17.00 Rom files and both gave me the "No BCPs" error. Personally I do desire the 9C.17.00. I am not sure as what to do, I have the nvidia file bios all set up and ready to go.

Yea that would be great, I was thinking of the voltage being around .98 to 1.0v, honestly it would make my life easier. Would I just use the usb bootable flash drive and run the file to update it?

Playing COD World at War for about 30 minutes, bring my max gpu temp to 96c! I have my laptop elevated, its about a good 1-2 inch gap. When I saved the stock gpu bios to my flash drive, I took a look at it in NiBiTor and the voltages were already at 0.9v. I find it weird because I never really messed with the voltages.

Anyone know what are the stock voltages for a 9800m gts? (p7805u)

Nope, @ 0.81V @ those clocks and stable gaming. Underclocked for max battery life temps rarely go over 45C as I said. Heres about 15 minutes worth of data:

And under very very heavy load it doesn't go over 71C ever, just on my desk, no laptop cooler ;[too big to fit in backpack and take from dorm]; But in Mass Effect, 1 hour of gaming, almost never goes over 63C. But here is RTHDRIBL after a good 10 minutes [IMG]

I UV my 9800M GTS from 1.12v to .9v, all across the boards. I use COD world at war to get my gpu heated up. When playing WaW on 1.12v, I have no issues whatsoever with gameplay. On 1.12v, my GPU gets to 90c, a little to hot for my taste.

When I UV the GPU to .9v, After a couple of seconds of playing the actual game, the game just crashes. no errors at all.

I tried increasing the voltage .05 at a time and the game still kept crashing. The only way it will not crash, is if I use the 1.12v stock settings.

I haven't OC my GPU and running driver version - 186.81

    Any idea whats going on?

EDIT, I left fur rendering benchmark running for 10min on default volts and clocks for about 10-15min and my GPU temps maxed out at 99c....

Im probably going to have to re-thermal paste it..amirite?

hey zolidsnake I am trying to undervolt my GPU as well but I am having issues with more choppiness and some artifacts appearing on my desktop randomly. I went down to 1.04V and the performance went down. Can I use the modded bios you gave to GTO VR4 on my p7805u? Or would you recommend another version?

wow, Your temp is really high. Mine is 70*C maxout, and I'm using 182.46 DOX if you wonder.
I think you should clean the heatsink out of dust to minimal your temp
Beside, mine runs at 0.94V for extra profile, others run at 0.88V, you should try 0.96 if having trouble with mine voltage.

I went ahead and modded the 7805u.rom provided by the OP with Nbitor and set the GPU clocks to 725/925/1800 and the voltage to 1.06V. Now it runs great at these overclock settings with lower temperatures. Before making this mod I could not go to 925 on the mem clock because it would overheat. Now I can do it because temps are more stable and the game is a lot smoother as well when it comes to loading new areas. Overall much more smoothness with no spikes like I used to experience before. Great mod :)
Also I undervolted my CPU to 0.92V and it is running @ 25* right now :)
