I have an update. I am currently running my GPU @ 700 core/ 950 mem/ 1800 shader @ 0.90V. For 3D, throttle and 2D I set the Voltage to .85V. It's amazing how I can run @ this overclock setting with such a lowered voltage, I get some lower temps now and was able to raise the mem clock to 950, which gives some noticeable fps increases. Good mod.

---Edit No, they don't work... setting battery voltage to .85 resets the voltage to 1.12 :(
    Am now running @ 733/945/1800 @ 1.06V stable and cooler :)

Nope, and as far as editing the Bios with Nbitor it says that it's set to 100% already so I didn't mess with that :)
also another update now I am running @ 733/945/1800 @ .90V stable woot! Much smoother gameplay than before, tested on Fallout 3 and Gta 4.

I have some questions about zolidzsnake's guide. These are probably the simplest steps, but I don't know how to do them. How do I get the .ROM file of my BIOS, and how do I flash it with a USB. I've always flashed it through windows. I have a 7811 with the .10 BIOS.

As I'm going through this thread I don't seem to see any positive results from the P-7811fx. Has anyone had any luck? Thinking of trying this after having had positive results with the TZS0 fix.

Crap, I'm getting the No BCP error as well. Tried 2 PBEs and both the .17 and the .10 you gave me. I'll use the one tenzen used, as it seems to have worked for him. Could you put up a .95v and a .9v as well zolidznake? I'd like to try more than 1 voltage. If it isn't too much trouble that is.

Oh, and you should try it too RangerXML. It seems to have worked for tenzen.

Aaahh crap. The flash failed. This is running into problems at every opportunity. I got an error message something along the lines of "Could not open file at C:\GATEWAY\IMV-035.wph" when I typed phlash16 at the prompt. Maybe I did something wrong, so I'll go over all my steps. I made a bootable usb using this guy's guide, following it pretty much to the letter. Used his downloads too. The files for flashing I moved onto it were the BIOS.bat, IMV-035.ROM, IMV-035.wph, and phlash16.exe. I went into BIOS settings to change the boot order to USB first. Strangely, it was listed 3 times. Once as USB HDD, once as USB CD-ROM, and once, in the excluded from boot section, as USB KEY. USB HDD and USB CD-ROM had other stuff after that like the name and manufacturer of the flash drive, but USB KEY was just USB KEY. I selected USB HDD as first in the boot order, and booted into the Windows Millennium edition emergency boot. I went to the correct directory and typed "refresh", which didn't work, and then "plash16", which threw the error.

Did you copy the cwsdpmi.exe file ? if not just check out the volt mod package on the first page.

No. I listed all the stuff I did in the description, didn't leave anything out. Why do I need that file? What exactly does it do? And is there anything else I need from the voltmod package? I thought it was all related to the video bios.

I'd be glad to try it out, but I doubt it will flash. I moved all the files I listed above into the root directory and added the CWSDPMI.exe file. Same error.

Is there any program we can use to check the GPU voltage? If so, then you should check to see if the voltage was actually affected.

No luck with your file forsaken123. Same error.

I reformatted the USB and tried again. Files are all on root, consist of BIOS.bat, COMMAND.COM, CWSDPMI.EXE, IMV-035.ROM, IMV-035.wph, IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, and phlash16.exe. Anything missing?

    As per the thread author
    Quote
the command line is simple, once you booted up your system under DOS type the following to backup your current video bios:

nvflash.exe -b backup.rom (it's important you have a backup of your own video bios)

then type the following to start flashing:

    nvflash.exe -4 -5 -6 "name of the bios here.rom" (example 7811.rom or 7805U.rom).

press "y" to confirm the warning messages and start flashing.
wait until you get a "successful flash" message then reboot.

do not flash it in any other way or you might corrupt your system.
    Unquote

Did you try backing up the VBIOS ? Even thats not working ?
    Doesn't nvflash.exe work for 7811 ? why phlash16.exe ?
Phlash16 is for phoenix bios flashing. all that you are doing here is flashing the video Bios using nvflash. Am i wrong or something?

allt he files u need are in the rar that u can download from the link i posted, however u may need to rename atleastthe IMV-035.wph to bios.wph. the only files u need are BIOS.bat, phlash16.exe IMV-035.ROM, IMV-035.wph, rename the last 2 files to bios.rom and bios.wph and u shall succeed.

ive tried with zolidznakes 0.95v and ONE_Js 0.9v, and so far ONE_Js is the one that worked for me, tho the volt 0.9v was to low and i got 3 sec blackscreens time to time.

Ok, I'll rename them both and try with zolidznakes 1v 9.17 bios.

Hey, that came close to working! It now says it can't flash if memory managers (e.g. Himim) present.

It said same to me too, you need to create pure boot DOS disk. No system or inf files cant be there. Follow this quide like I did:
    http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm

Then copy those phflash and bios.wph etc. into that disk/usb, should work!

Ok it worked, and I'll test it out in 3D mark, but I still don't know how to actually check the GPU voltage. GPUz and rivatuner don't show it anywhere that I can find.

Also, an insanely annoying problem showed up again, and now I remember why I never flashed up from the 9.10 bios. Now, whenever the GPU fan engages, something makes the most annoying ping noise in the world. I can't freaking stand it. Does anyone know what the hell this is or why it's happining. Happened with the 9.12 bios too.

Actually, in the 9.12 bios, it may have been the CPU fan.

Not sure if it worked or not. Temps were a little cooler than usual, and score was a little higher, but not by much. I'm going to try the .9v one now. Would be great if I could see the voltage though.

Edit: Actually, I don't even have the .9v bios. Can you send it to me forsaken?

Do you have any specific questions? Also, what model do you have? Shouldn't be too hard on a 7805. Can't really say the same about the 7811

You could try llynx's guide, as it has better step by step instructions and all the links you need and does the same thing. Just go through each step and post about it if you get stuck.

Dear Lord, I modded my bios to .95V, 3DMark06 went from a meager 7600 to 10545, 3DMark05 from 13800 to 17225!! Stock, only changed DDR from 799 to 800 MHz. NVidia's 195.62 drivers.

Now this is decent 9800 GTS performance. I must have done something wrong earlier.

E8435, roughly equivalent to X9100, but those results are with the same CPU, 3DMark06 score with the P8400 was ~6300.

Hey guys i got a p7805u with a p8400 and gpu UV to 0.9v and clocks at 700/900/1700 are there better clock/voltage combos u guys can recommend for better performance and im running on DOX 195.62 if ur wondering lol. I cant seem to install 3dmark06? But right now my gpu temps been idleing at 67C-70C which i think is a little to hot for my taste. I got Artice Silver on the gpu and cpu but still running warm. =P

Maybe its running warm because of the 0.9v is too low and is reseting to 1.12v? How could i tell if that is happening here? Ty guys

For those clocks .9V IS too low, and yes it's resetting to 1.12v. What I did is upgrade my previous drivers to 196.34 and leave Powermizer on. Then flashed the bios to .99V 720/900/1800 3d extra and left the other clocks alone. Now My GPU Idles @ 54-56 degrees and maxes out while gaming for a while around the 80 degrees area.

ok i tried flashing the new settings in and i just noticed that whatever i flash in it does not follow thru with. I see no changes with temp or with fps.

Could it be because i have the nvidia control panel (ntune) installed that i am unable to change voltage and clocks thru DOS flashing?

I uninstalled ntune before I made my volt mod, since I set 3d extra to be the max clocks that I would be using any way. Go ahead and uninstall it and set 3d extra to whatever you want to be your gaming and hd movie clocks.

Unfortunately this was short lived. After about 20 min of MW2 my Video kept crashing and recovering. I did enjoy the smoother FPS though so Im going to try .95v and then 1v to see if I can find the sweet spot for my gts.
